These crows are very calm compared to others I have seen. I know they can be quite timid and difficult to film. The video showed them in great detail.
Thanks! It kind of helped in this case to have a camera already out there, but crows are usually difficult to tape! I had a very cool time for about 2 weeks when I was taping these crows regularly, they don't come down to our yard very often, but for 2 weeks in '07, this couple decided to, so I tried to get as much footage of them as I could - I actually have a 4 hour DV tape filled with footage from that period, they're just such cool birds to watch - :)
It's cool to watch them do that! I'm sure there's other kinds of birds that do that too, but I've never seen any other ones do it as much as the crows do! On *that* note... they've left again... this year's been one strange one so far, at least I can say that! :)
Ravens are larger than crows - they look similar, but their beaks are longer and their heads look a little different. I've never seen a raven before, actually, so I'm just guessing from what I've heard from nature shows... :)
We don't have ravens around here, but I've heard their calls before (on nature documentaries) - it's more of a chartling call rather than the harsher crow call...
Thanks! I actually got it from 2 angles, so there's another shot to this also, but the other one isn't as good - but the sound's much better on the other one! So I'll fix the sound on a later version - I have to de-compress the source files, and that's going to take awhile - 5 min. of vids takes 30 to de-compress! It's worth it though to see the other versions! I've been getting a *lot* of great video of the crows lately!!
I got your message earlier this morning too - I'll get back soon! :)

how do you attract hawks bro?
Airsoftman67 2 years ago
Hawks or crows? In either way, not sure... if you've got a lot of squirrels, you're going to have hawks.

Isn't that cool? They do that when they're eating too - they do what looks like a little warble before they swallow which you can also see here!

Also, ravens have diamond shaped tail rather than the fan shaped tails which crows have. The call of ravens is a lot lower in pitch too.
