  • nice sleeper...1,000 hp

  • how much do you want for the 69 camaro and theres a guy i want to you race him hes has a mustage with a 351 with heads and a cam typ back

  • the jeep plus two beautiful cars love it

  • what mufflers do you have on your camaro? i have a 472 cadi engine with 3 in piping but haven't found mufflers to give it the popcorn kinda sound that this car has please let me know beautiful cars btw.

  • Im a mustang guy but that camaro is awesome. In fact, thats the only camaro i would ever buy. Dont like old vettes but ill take a new one lol

  • nice video...keep em' coming...

  • Haha i love ripping down hwy 1 too. I actually live in your area but I don't think i've seen you driving around. I'll wave if I see you :)

  • what is your job to be able to afford all those goodies......

  • aww virgin asphalt mmm.

  • its good to see Candians keeping classic American cars alive these are some bad ass cars.

  • @JsDs1020 Glad to do my part. And thanks.

  • Seriously, how do you run power brakes? My cam is a "small" 248/256 @ .050 w 640 lift on 108 lobe center, (320cc Canfield heads) consequently I get too low a vacume to run a brake booster, but the torque starts at 2800 and stays a fat 650-690 ftlbs to 5800 rpm. I just can imagine running T/A's anymore, I couldn't keep the car on the road, and thats w/ a 3.43 gear. I really enjoy seeing you beat on the Chevy's, thats what their for. I especially like your NOS camparo, that was cool.

  • @MrMesaDude I have a vacuum storage cannister and the power brakes are just barely adequate. I'm going to change to a hydra-boost system eventually.

  • I have a similar "700hp" 540 and has maybe 10 inches of vacume - not enought to run power brakes, thats for sure. So whats up? I can even imagine to run those BF Goodriches - their more like running on marbles w/ that kind of HP, you can spin them at any speed, even 100mph, so it's kinda futile to have that slippety rubber on a "700HP" car. Get some 555 nitto's or a D.O.T. slick w/ some grip, unless spinn'in n smok'in is all you want to do.....But I do love yer Chevy's!

  • @MrMesaDude Post some vid of your 540, tough guy! 69 Camaros look best with factory rally rims. They came in 14 and 15". The highest performance 15" tire is a Radial T/A. One day I'll go larger after-market rims and tires, but not yet. Not Yet. Btw, the highest speed I can start a rolling burnout is 70mph - they do get some traction.

  • i bet your neighbors love you

  • @oakley175 Some more than others.

  • Who ported the heads on that Camaro?

  • @stopthemadness99 Nobody.

  • you are my hero sir!

  • @fasteddy350 Thanks, but I seriously doubt that.

  • ok, i am going to give you several props. First, nice car, bet it is a beast. Second, I will give you major props for being respectful in your neighborhood. You would be surprised at how many a-holes dont respect where they live. Enjoyed the vid.

  • @lvgordo Thanks and thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • My dad had a '69 Camaro and said selling it was the worst mistake he ever did. I'll show him this video sometime and hopefully he'll enjoy it

  • @wingman123 Hope so. I have lots more vids of my Camaro.

  • @540merlin He loved it! He really enjoyed both cars and wishes he had the money to do such thing. His mouth dropped when you talked about the guy having a 1600 sq ft garage.

  • nice rides, i bet 800hp is hard to handle with a street setup like that though

  • @jcmknl2005 The only difficulty is traction. Life could be worse.

  • you must have a big gas bill being ur daily driver. awesome cars dude would love 2 have the camero

  • @skylinerbrbrb My mechanics monthly bill is 10 times my gas bill.

  • @540merlin haha no worries, Falcons aren't reputed as fast cars, it's just a neat looking cruiser, plus its just a 170, And thats ALOT cooler way to get gas mileage than a damned civic lol

  • That Camaro should leave more rubber than that on the road.

  • @philip21786 To get the most rubber, I would need to do the burn out in third gear. The car will spin the tires in third on nos easily, but I worry about frying my clutch, so I do smaller burn outs in second gear. One day I'll do a third gear burn out. Hmm, now you've got me thinking...

  • @540merlin The Camaro sounds awesome, but just seems to me like the tires should be spinning a LOT faster than they were during your burnout and putting off more smoke. How much torque is the engine producing? And yes, I bet that car is a dream to drive lol. I'd love to use that Camaro as my grocery-getter!

  • @540merlin Start your burnout in 1st or 2nd and just make your way to 3rd, that's what I would do hoping to keep my clutch functioning longer.

  • @540merlin I just watched your burnout compilation. I'll take back what I said, maybe it was just the road surface or something. lol

  • @540merlin i wish i had similar problems...

  • between those two cars thats lotta money spent, my taste is in European cars

  • @popz123 Probably more money than you think. Certainly more than my wife thinks!

  • hey man looking to adopt?

  • @30301500 I'm not certain, but I think you are the 6th to ask. Sorry, but no.

  • @540merlin atleast I tried ahahha

  • no one can hate on a classic thats fer sure, no matter the brand, dodge, ford, chevy, or dotsun.. they all did pretty good.

  • @theoldmew You are exactly right.

  • those cars are awesome. you sure no how to pick'em. sure as hell no how to drive'em too!

  • @jguth52 Thanks man. Remember, I only post the stuff that looks good - I delete all the crappy looking stuff!

  • @540merlin I drive a 64 falcon :(

  • @f0r3v3rl33t Fuck - sorry. I was not picking on Falcons, it was meant to ba a personal attack on that other guy! Falcons can be cool.

  • Verrrrry niiiice car!! WOOOW! This is coming from a supra guy.

  • @RICEFREAK I appreciate positive comments from guyd with names like RiceFreak. Thanks.

  • @540merlin u know how to drive right with that power!! nice man! :) greetings from Europe!

  • very nice cars keep them alive !!!

  • @kevinshere0485 Thanks, and count on it!

  • what is that annoying resonating sound in car? electric fuel pump? noticable as soon as u turn on the key 3:23 . stays constant(not changing with rpm) it kinda ruins sweet sound of engine. worse outside. nice care anyhow.

  • @nuclearwinterxxx That is the sound of horsepower. It's a 140gph electric fuel pump. I need a pretty serious pump to keep up with the fuel needs when I crack the nos. They don't come in quiet.

  • @540merlin You would think someone who supposedly knows so much about cars wouldnt say "nos".

  • @mathyu0179123232 Why would one think that?

  • @540merlin Why would one think what?

  • @540merlin haha, i know what horsepower sounds like. i was right on the money though with noise. gotta gimme some credit. i like the whine of gear drives, and roots superchargers, but anything electrical drives me batty.

  • You said it was pretty much a stock 540 in the camaro, but stock 540s don't run 800+hp stock, I believe you and all but my question is what all did you do to the engine to make it press 800+Hp? Please reply! just curious! also i HAVE to hear that beast with the cutouts open, make a video of that please! thank you sir!

  • @exoticlown I said "stock bore" in the video. There is obviously no such thing as a stock 540 in a Camaro. Some of the details on the engine are 10:1, 700 lift solid roller cam, single plane intake, rectangular port heads, 2" headers, 3" mndrel bent exhaust, electronic ignition set to 7,200rpm limit, balaced, blue printed, professionally built by the best in the business with no expense spared.

I'm working on the cut-outs video.

  • Sorry but thats more in the medium to high 300hp range. There is no way that car is

800hp. Get it to a dyno but you might ruin your fantasy.

  • @garmool 300hp? Its a radically high performance 540. 300hp? You, my good man, are an idiot!

  • @garmool im messin with u on the 300 hp but do a dyno and it will be no fuckin way next to the 1000 hp you are fantasizing about.

  • Ok, Great Video, but we need more In-car videos!

  • @trentwellman9615 Coming up, thanks for the suggestion.

  • just for your knowledge, most nitrous kits only put out about 30% of what they say, your 250hp shot is probaly more like a 100. and most 540 merlin are measured before they are put in so 800 is probaly more like 650 ish, still crazy badass, for a car that a old camaro your gonna have your hands full.

  • @coalandnuclear Thanks. I do have some of my own knowledge, especially about nitrous and 540's. The 540is 680hp at the crank, At least. the nice thing about nitrous is how easy it is to control the hp gains. A 250 shot puts out nearly exactly 250hp on any engine you stick it on.

  • @540merlin i dint think you understand what i was saying, a 250 shot is theoritical. meaning at 100% combustion rate will give you 250 extra hp.but the fact is engines are only about 30 to 40% efficiency. this is not my opinion, it is fact. the companies that sell these kits arent going to tell you what you will get, they are going to tell you how much you should get if everything was perfect. and nitrous adds more a shit load more torque than hp, so it will feel like alot more hp,

  • @coalandnuclear Have you ever watched a before and after nitrous dyno test? The gains are amazingly close to the advertised hp. It does not save nitrous companies money to advertise a higher hp gain than actually acheivable. I have a nitrous video coming out soon that may have some interesting tech in it. Stay tuned.

  • @540merlin dont know what dyno your talking about, ive see 75 shots that make about 30 to 40, ive seen 150 shots that make about 60-80. these nitrous kits are based on what theoretical hp gains should be, not what they will put to the wheels. you see you lose about 50 to 60% from heat friction and transmission from the engine to the wheels. and it kinda shows that you dont know that much when you say it will add 250hp to any engine you put it on. i.e. its easier to add 250 to 1000 than 200

  • That burnout is almost as long as my di.............well its a long burnout

  • @Drokkers Impressive.

  • can you say a rich old man with way to much money ....... $200k yea and i spent 6 grand on a roll of tolit paper to try to clean up all that bullshit i got a go cart that will do a "500 ft bullshit burnout"

  • can you say a rich old man with way to much money ....... $200k yea and i spent 6 grand on a roll of tolit paper to try to clean up all that bullshit i got a go cart that will do a "500 ft bullshit burnout"

  • can you say a rich old man with way to much money ....... $200k yea and i spent 6 grand on a roll of tolit paper to try to clean up all that bullshit

  • @kawiprairie360mudder $200k was a joke. I only have 150 into it. Where did you find that toilet pper? I'd like some. Whadya mean "old"?

  • 500 foot my ass. That does not look like 1.5 football fields.

  • @joeyisfunny I measured it. It's 500 feet.

  • i am just gonna take it easy *drops the pedal and speedo in high speed wheelspin

  • @viirus35 Everybody seems to like that part.

  • sorry man, but for $200K it is all original, or an 5-6sec car, it is far from each.. lame.. you would think he would spend a dollor or $2 on some rubber, pathetic...

  • @TrenAman1 How about an all original looking car that runs 9's. Works for me.

  • @TrenAman1 I have a T-shirt for sale that says that. Check out my store.

  • @dmac5951 No problem, I have pretty thick skin.

  • MUSCLE CARS FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!

  • it's a beast - the 1000hp one

  • @xXEnkeixpressXx It can be a bit hairy to drive at times. Like when the back tires are trying there hardest to get ahead of the front tires.

  • You must not race them on the track due to the fact that I saw no roll cage or batt kill switch...N did you put a fuel cell in any of them? anyway Nice American Meanies!

  • @Tjpakadub Not yet. I'm getting there. And thanks.

  • @Tjpakadub he does not race them because they are nowhere near this listed HP rating... Even the $200K camaro.. what a joke. There is no such thing as a '69 800stock camaro. I have owner close to 40 sub 70' camaro',, via

  • @TrenAman1 i believe he was referring to the engin itself being stock as in no modifications made other than nitrous. i agree with others, he should have it dyno'd. that guesstimation seems a bit high. he may have missed the mark on true horsepower, but nice cars nonetheless.

  • What kind of mpg do you get with those cars? :)

  • @295mfk 5 to 10mpg around town if I drive nice.

  • why listen to a radio i n these cars

  • @68965 I bought the Vette in 1988. For the first 20 years it had no functional stereo. I thought the same way - I want to hear the exhaust. Then I made a lot of money and stuck a really nice stereo in my black 69 Camaro. That was the end of that. I put an even nicer one in the Vette. I don't always listen to music in the car, but when I do its killer sound.

  • i love the vids dave. im a 540 guy but i have a small block nova. ever had either car to the track ?

  • @pulitovr That is a killer Nova! Love your videos - especially the way you merge onto the freeway!

I made two passes in my Vette 20 years ago when it was still the numbers 454 in factory 390hp configuration. Ran 13.2 @ 108. I'm pretty sure I can beat that time now. I for sure want to take the Camaro down the strip, hopefully this summer.

I subbed ya, so you can post more vids now and I'll find out.

  • @540merlin hey thanks dave for the compliments. your vids are by far the best on youtube. its real . its in your face im out bangin the gears and sprayin nitrous and red lining all the way down the high way, then driving it back home with 0 failure !!! thats the same type of vids i like to post of my own cars.

  • @540merlin do you adopt?? haha

  • @dmac5951 First I never said I paid $200,000 for the car. Second this isn't a 63 Falcon POS, its a 69 Camaro - 69 Camaros cost more. Third, this is Canada, not the US. Fourth, WTF do you know about my car, or any 69 Camaro for that matter?

Why do people make such stupid comments?

  • @540merlin

Jealousy....they will never own anything that nice. You got a couple awesome cars you obviously put a lot of work into, be proud. 540s are a great BB and can take a lot of abuse. Enjoy

  • You have a dyno sheet of that 1000 hp daily driver pump gas Camaro..lmao

  • @Diehlsville No. I dyno'd an earlier 540 that I was running it peaked at 640hp 655ftlb. This one has way more power than that one, way better build with way better parts. It's easily 700hp. Easily. Plus I run a 250 shot of NOS, which is adjustable from 150hp to 400hp. So I'm pretty certain its 1,000hp.

That's probably 3 times the output of your smallblock, tuff guy. LMAO.

  • i dont like american cars at all , but this looks kinda fun to drive

  • @viirus35 They both are. That's what I built them for.

  • i have been watching car vids. for years (I love all makes and models) and this is the first time i fell into your channel :-) Im subscribing !!! At work ( I paint @ a collision shop) we are 80% finished with the owners 69 Copo Replica. There is just something about a 69 Camaro that NO other car has :-) Thanx for the vids. Merlin.

  • @6speedlover The 69 Camaro was exactly the right car at exactly the right time. It had the right options and perfect looks. It was the King of the Muscle Car era. And it was only available for one year.

I've heard it said that the 69 Camaro is the most desired car in the world. It certainly is for me.

  • your ss is very nice!

  • @tquest1 Thanks. Bernie is cool.

  • i LOVE YOU!

  • @loky6 No. You don't.

  • "Lets take it easy" *Floors it* hahaha XD love it man, great car!

  • @chaserr120 Everybody likes that part. I sell T - shirts with that on it, check them out at my CafePress site.

  • it was recorded by someone while i was at natl trail raceway-under 1970 camaro-mine is the tubeed daytona yellow one

  • go make a self interveiw video...again.arguing with someone on the internet is like the special olympics, win or loose your both retarded, and my camaro is already on here...wow i bet your wife is a VERY happy woman.

  • @sdy0174 Your Camaro is not on your channel. Where is it? I want to see this 9 second car of yours.

  • you obvousily have no expierance racing just read alot of magazines and stuck a big motor in a more or less drive train,if you like spinning tires thats your perogitive-but 9 times out of 10 the car that hooks not spinning, is the faster car even if it has less hp this is coming from a person with a 9 second all steel 1/4 mile car on pump gas.you must just pay somebody to work on your cars instead of learning to do it yourself.

  • @sdy0174 Post some vid of your 9 second car or get off my channel. I'm getting sick of guys like you.

  • @540merlin Dude you are one lucky fella. you probably go to sleep real comfortable knowing you got 2 beast cars in your garage. My dream car is a 69 camaro not a lambo or ferarri but if anyone has one to give away ill take em.

  • @dannyplants1 then you are not dreaming bro!

  • @TrenAman1 hmm, I have a REAL 1100hp DD 08 vette... you have jokes... but nice try

  • @TrenAman1 i mean i would like a lambo but. iv always wanted a sick fast and powerful camaro aha

  • great vid, awful sound. not your fault, just the device doesn't really capture or relate the rumble right.

  • @kenfo0 The sound is fairly accurate.

  • @540merlin My brother had a built big block chevy. didn't sound like that. might be my speakers?

  • @kenfo0 The sound is not perfect, but its close.

  • spinning the tires are why you need the gear, line locks are for to hold the front tires only so the back ones heat up while not having to do a 1/4 mile burnout,3.33;1 gear would make your problem of just spinning the tires even worse, but if you like seeing tire smoke and hearing the motor reving while the guy in the other lane is 1/2 way down the track, then keep that setup, and keep thinking your car is the hottest one out -make another video of you racing yourself if that makes you feel better.

  • @sdy0174 Common missconceptions. Heating up street tires does not help traction - only heating slicks helps. Shorter gears like 411:1 are great for high revving, no low end torque engines like a cammed 350 but don't do any good in an uber-block 540 that makes 600ftlbs at 1500rpm. The tallest gears you can launch without bogging are perfect, like say 3.31:1.

My car aint the hottest out there. There's always a faster car. And I am going to make another video of me racing me when the rain stops.

  • needs steeper gear and line lock,

  • @sdy0174 3.55:1 gears are just about right. 3.31:1 would be ideal, not steeper. I can spin the tires all the way throgh second (3rd with NOS), why would I want steeper gears? I have a line lock, but prefer not to use it. Line locks are for cars that can't really do a burn out, imo.

  • 540merlin is the most condescending loser i've ever seen. And look at how he responds to every post, I wonder what you'll have to say about this one, Your Royal Highness.

  • @Nomah99 Hey Nomah, I'm just sharing and trying to be friendly. What exactly are you doing?

  • @Nomah99 lol if you had such a beastly fleet of cars and worked hard enough to earn them youd prolly post some shiftin vids too, just go cruise another you tube channel with slower cars, more your speed

  • Eh, I'm more of a Chevy guy. OH WAIT! :P Those are some sick cars, man. My friend lives a couple streets down from me and he has a 502CID Crate for his 1971 Stingray. Great job, sir!

  • @HemiCuda666 Thanks.

  • Adopt me?

  • @SuPrAmAd101 Refer to one of my other videos: 540Merlin Interviewed by Dave - FAQ's.

  • Damn it now I have to reseam the front of my pants.

  • @lurch6stringsdown Bragger.

  • @540merlin hahahaha. That Camaro sounds like it eat Ferrari's and shits Lambos. I'd like to see a punk in a mustang pull up to it just to see a painted pony cry.

  • @lurch6stringsdown I am obviously a Chevy guy. But with all due respect, there are a few pretty fucking fast Mustangs out there. Not most, but a few.

  • i want

  • @jspesh Can't have.

  • @540merlin :(

maybe one day i'll import one of these beasts to the UK

  • @540merlin what if i say i want,..? can i have..lol didnt think so had to try

  • @MrJsowa Sorry.

  • simply amazing. good work man

  • @rotten86cj7 Thank you.

  • @540merlin how much yo think you have in it

  • Damn, i love your camaro... good work

  • @Erogerk Thanks. The Vette is nicer...

  • i swear to god i can smell the exhaust just watching the video

  • @hmt227 I can smell it too, but the cars are in the next room.

  • Currently modifying a pair of 'A'-Body BBC headers to fit my 81' Malibu to clear my mechanical linkage is quite fun, lol. Mine's a 468, ST-10 4spd, 9" w/4.11's, notched, mini tubbed, caged & 29x10.5 rubber. I'm so anxious to finish it & your vid's just lite my fire!!! Your cars are sweet!!!

  • @motleyphuckincrue Thanks. Post some vid when you get that BB running.

  • Those two cars are a tribute to American Muscle! Would have liked to have seen the Stingray doing a little peelout though. great cars bud

  • @chrisbarlow01 Watch "Dave's Smokey Burnout Compilation" - there's lots of burnouts from both cars.

  • nice cars lovem

  • @WatchingQQ Thanks.

  • I wanna see one on a track with corners - that'd be good for a laugh!!!

A tight little 1-1.5 mile circuit - and an austin healy sprite as a challenge

  • @tomview1 I think maybe you're missing something, Tom, perhaps I did not explain it well. These are just daily drivers for to and from work. People seem to like seeing videos about them (660,000 views so far) so I post them. These are not racecars or claimed to be anything more or less than they appear to be. A couple of old chevy's with 540 bigblocks. I'm just sharing, not bragging.

Enjoy the videos for what they are. Thanks for coming by.

  • @540merlin Again - apollogies for the assholery.

  • @tomview1 No problem.

  • @tomview1 The AH spritw would still get its ass kicked. When you are 3x's as fast on the straights, you can afford to be 2x's as slow in the corners ; )

  • @gregmacknass Just depends on how far it is between the corners hey.

  • @gregmacknass Just depends on how far it is between the corners hey. or a good hill climb, all corners.

  • he took it easy alright

  • @SgtSellz102 Taking it easy means no nitrous.

  • One hell of a fuel pump, waaaaaaaaaa.... luv it

  • @honda2363 That would be the sound of horsepower!

  • And what do you do for a living? :)

  • @IMmoreRANDOMthanYOU Engineer. Watch one of my other videos: "540Merlin Interviewed by Dave - FAQ's".

  • Whats the gas mileage like on those things?!

  • @oakley175 Not great, but cheap compared to repairs and maintenance. Watch one of my other videos: "540Merlin Interviewed by Dave - FAQ's".

  • @oakley175 Gas mileage? Um, less than your Prius there fella! haha

  • @motleyphuckincrue I don't even have a car yet... it was out of curiosity jackass.

  • Hell yeah man, an 800hp daily driver... I like it
