i did a track day yesterday at road america, and a ferrari f430 challenge series went off right before canada corner, and totally wrecked his entire getup. everyone had to pit in the session so they could get all the carbon shards everywhere...expeeensivve
I will repost this video in the future, when I originally posted it, we were limited on time. Also the editing software I used wasn't quite what I was looking for, I have another from SoCal here, "in car camera auto racing"...thx for viewing.
Really unlucky. I hope the car wasn't too damaged and was repaired. That generation of Corvette is easily one of the best looking cars ever made, and what an engine!
Thank you Top, this is an old video, we did have the car rebuilt for spring races in SoCal, and competed again at R.A. the next year. I haven't been involved for 10 yrs and miss it. The drivers' name is Doug Hooper, he has a very long history of road racing in virtually everything but always drove 'Vettes, he drove for Mickey Thompson and his car beat the then new Cobras in '62 at Riverside. Coincidentally, we also ran the no. 1 chassis Grand Sport for 2 yrs. before it was sold.
Youch! I see what you're talking about. Glad you saw my accident. Unfortunately my accident was on my own - my rear brake bias was screwy. I'm just glad I didn't take out the Porsche - it always sucks taking someone out for a silly reason when racing. Cool video - thanks for sharing!
I can take good criticism....lol...I am going to post another one soon, without so much music, I like adding the music when it "fits" I thought it fit in this case.
This video was shot around 1993, it was our second or third time there, we would go there from the Los Angeles area. To the best of my knowledge they still run these cars there..they used to call it the Chicago Historic Races.
Thanks for adding to my Video. I like the way it sounds like the driver is listing to some classic rock in his classic car. Good Video. Is that you driving? Sucks that the Porsche took out the Vette.
took me a minute to get your first comment.."tar racing". Just thought you couldn't type there for a minute. Anyway, promote what you like and admire what others do. Because something is boring to you is of zero consequence to anyone but yourself. Rock on boss.
Thank you for visiting, now go back and watch your football/baseball/basketball/or whatever it is you do like. People like you can never appreciate the effort of true sportsmen and their contribution to society as a whole....think car safety!!
Thanks for the vid. The B.R.I.C. has always been my favorite. Reminds me of my first trip to R.A. in 1968.

Haha. I think it sounds better to hear the engine and car- lets me know what the driver is doing.

What was it like back then by the way? I would have loved to see those races.

Depend on some crappy 911-esque POS to take out a 'Vette the only way it can. Craps.

It's what you make of it! Try driving one of those or better yet go to a race and it's a whole diffrent perspective. Just my 2 cents

Nice video and nice cars. I was there that weekend.

Thanx for your comment..you were there? as a driver? what were you driving?
totallygonegearhead 4 years ago
I was there as a spectator. It has been too many years since I raced there. I am currently trying to rectify that mistake. :)
