  • a chubby billy corgan

  • I would love to see the original lineup, not in the present, but at thie time when MAIS was released. Billy sounded like a driven individual trying to work with slackers. I love the tension at the last part of the interview.

  • @murilava yes indeed.

  • billy simply is better than averyone, cobain, chains, pearl jam

  • @MURILAVA well he's certainly living longer than most of them, lol

  • Just listen to Jimmy hitting the drums, what a machine!

  • @JakZarok absolute fucking animal! What a legend, one of teh best drummers of our generation

  • Darcy=Sexy.

  • I love how Darcy explains anything.

  • Lol at Jimmy and the 007 hat.

  • hahahahaha.....arent you not suppose to eat during an interview, wats dat billy's having...crepes?? hahahahaha, its so cool for him to be interviewed then munching hving hi-tea or something like that.......

  • MCIS is one of the all-time great albums. I heard it for the first time high as a kite and let me tell you, it was an experience I won't forget.

  • I want to live in this song

  • @koko1282 I agree! Tis' one of my favourites =)

  • they don't make bands like this nomore =(

  • @blindingsun yup, yup - 90s Alt was the best!

  • Billy is definitely the most mature one in the band I guess that's why he can be disliked alot of the time

  • haha..u could feel the tension between billy and D'arcy

  • Lol Jimmy's hat XD So epic! 3:47

  • 4:15 i guess by dumb songs he means "we only come out at night" lol no but i love all of the songs on that album.

...makes me miss 90s era SP so badly...

  • I like how he said I'll wed thee true twice :)

  • 4:25 jimmy : " it's right" billy :" NOT AT ALL " lol

  • I was there, 12 December 1995 in the Melkweg Amsterdam. They played an amazing small 1000+ club show, just before embarking on the large world tour.

  • It's always nice to see "new" archival footage just when you begin to think you've seen it all. Thanks for this.

  • It's really interesting to see Billy's perspective and seriousness when it comes to music in comparison to the other band mates. He seems to take it quite seriously, which is great! It creates wonderful music.

But, I think it's great to see his creativity now, in 2009, that he's surrounded himself with others that share his same outlook. He seems way happier, and the music is just as amazing!

  • He might be happier. Maybe it's just the calm that getting older affords us.

Maybe surrounding yourself with adoring yes men/woman feels good but the flip side is he's sacrificed the friction and tension SP music was famous for. He's still a first-rate musician and songwriter, but there's a blandness, a lack of urgency in the music now.

Maybe he needs to put his heart on the line again ... personally or professionally. Either one.

  • I completely agree.

  • @galenaie well said. He just isn't angry anymore. The love and adoration of the fans is primarily responsible for his lightened perspective. His angry days ended when MCIS. Adore and Machina are much happier albums and everything he's ever came up with after that has been made with a light heart. a lot of the anger you heard in the first 3 albums, i believe, is teen angst he hadn't yet gotten over. Shortly after making MCIS, they completed everything they set out to do as a band.

  • @Deanobucko917 your points are so interesting, it's clear that the 4 of them made the band work and even if the cogs of James and D'arcy are taken out, however small they may have been the band broke down.I was wondering personally do you think that their reputation has suffered as a result of Billys obsessive need to make what are now thought of as sub par albums such as Zeitgeist or do you think that Billy wrecking the original lineup makes the whole Billy-James-Darcy-Jimmy lineup more special

  • @tdkcdrom The original pumpkins were notorious for not getting along, they all were very stubborn about things going their way. They disagreed and were in conflict all the time and that tension carried over into the music and made it what it was. During the Adore era jimmy was gone, you could feel it, it wasn't the same. And now that the other two are gone, the sound is even more disconnected from what it used to be. If the originals all came back, you would say , "OH YEAH, THE SP'S ARE BACK

  • @Deanobucko917 But just because he isn't angry, doesn't mean the music can't still be good? People change- Billy changed and so his music with it. I don't see why that's such a bad thing as you seem to make it.

  • @galenaie That's an insightful statement. There aren't that many when it comes to comments about The Smashing Pumpkins.

  • @galenaie sort of like comparing new order to joy division maybe ;)
