  • I've always pondered. How the heck said "Let's start ripping arcade games !!"

Or how on earth did arcade emulation come around ? Still boggles me.

  • Well it has OpenGL ES 2 shaders as well, which are pretty modern. The original Pandora games might have per-pixel lighting and cool stuff like that. Maybe the XBox had that, I honestly don't know.

  • Yea i would really like to see what the Pandora is truly capable of. Apparently its a bit more powerful than the xbox so I guess that xbox graphics is about what we can expect the Pandoras potential to be.

  • I... don't think it's that powerful. It's more like a PC from... I'm not sure how far back actually. At least 7 or 8 years back.

  • @eyeball226 You can't comparet them.. This one has a ARM processor.. That ones aren't comparable to Intel processors.. Intel ones have a higher clock rate, BUT.. Are they faster? Not necessarily.. Clock speed is all but everything.. And this one has a second processor (430 MHz)

  • @nanderv

Yes, I'm aware of all this. It was a reply to the guy saying it was as powerful as an xbox.

  • what is needed is net emus, what is needed are native games...

  • Yeah. Emulators are always several times slower and they limit you to the original hardware specs.

*sigh* But they're easier to make. Eventually the developer community will make some good native games. It's a matter of time.

  • Zeq2Lite is coming to the pandora.

  • Dinosaurs and Cadillacs looks slow!

  • Will this be more powerful than Ipod Touch 2g?

  • Yes, the Pandora will be far more powerful than any iPod Touch.

Mostly in software and input devices, but the storage and hardware are considerably better, too.

  • And yeah you need to find a surplus of cheap but high end cpu's also!

  • Introducing the Texas instruments Texas Instruments OMAP3530 System-on-Chip with ARM Cortex-A8 superscalar microprocessor core.

Plus PowerVR SGX 530 OpenGL 3D hardware.

It's based on freely available chips that are in use in all kinds of devices already.

  • What do you mean slow? Its fine.

  • And my guess is that the guy above enever even played FF7. XD

Damn fanboys. Come on. He's 12 years old and dropping the F-Bomb. Basically, grow up people.

  • how long have you been waiting exactly??

    did you say years???

  • Dude the PSP can handle emulating PS1 games because the "emulator" is made by Sony, but that is putting it simply. Of course Sony could make the best possible emulator of there own product.

But lets look at what matters, technical specs. Both the PSP and PS1 use a MIPS based processor, there is probably less "emulating" the game and more "running" the game. But the Pandora running a PS1 game is another story. An ARM processor emulating another CPU architecture is a completely different story.

  • rofl

  • If it's averaging 100-150, you still have plenty of room for other sorts of games. Necessary FPS should be at least 70-75 FPS before the human eye can even begin detecting it (Human Eye = about 60 Hz. Varies from person to person.) Can't wait until Pandora is released.

  • Wow. Just wow. Have you guys seen it running Funal Fantasy 7? Holy shit. That's just amazing.

  • I loved the music the most!

  • the music ruins the video

  • Guys, also remember one thing, check the description. cragix says the prototype PCB is running at 500mhz, they said since months ago the final unit will run at 600mhz! also, if it's true that it can be overclocked to 900mhz (without overheating or anything?) then imagine!

  • I want one so badly it hurts. Can't wait man!

  • is this device good for taking notes at school? like in a speech/ english class?

  • yes, think of it as a netbook with less ram and a shitload of games

  • This is looking really great. I am so glad to hear that there were so many pre orders and interest in the Pandora that the server could not even cope (bad for the server of course).

  • @craigix: please visit us at nexgam (de)

(one of the biggest fan based gaming communities in Germany, host Planet Wonderswan, Gizmondo, Gamepark etc.)to report more about your great device. I think it could be a great way to advertise your device (i think the Pandora surely has to reach as many people as she can) and nexgam is the best place to do that.

  • fuck I could run firepro G on this

  • There are many hardcore gamers on the forums which are not only interested in Xbox & co but also in MsX, M2, Neo Geo, PC Engine and all other gaming devices.

Maybe you could inform Evildragon too (I think he s from Germany?)that would be great.

Thanks in Advance and greetings from Germany benzin

btw: I hope you had a great time producing the Pandora and thanks for bringing us this awesome device.

  • Where do you insert the coin? XD I cant wait for it to be realeased

  • You just press 5 to simulate the insertion of a coin. Have you ever used MAME?

  • DO-do-do-do-do-donpachi!

    kick ass!

  • GROSISIMA!!!!!!!!

  • yeah but over twice as fast with a better LCD same as the archos which those who own one seem to think is nearly perfect ... the differences are endless...

  • With a screen thats 3x the resolution, a faster CPU, dual analog sticks, an amazing homebrew scene, runs emulators like a dream. Theres nothing about this device that I don't like.

  • Got a bit carried away there, the resolution is almost double of the PSPs.

  • You know I understand why you might think that.

480 x 272 vs 800 x 480, you must've thought because 800 is less than double 480, and 480 is less than double 272, the pandora screen was less than double the psp screen, its an honest mistake.

But people that passed pre-algebra know that you're doing it wrong

    480 x 272 = 130560

    800 x 480 = 384000

    384000 / 130560 = 2.94 (which I rounded to 3)

    You see now? :)

  • thanks for the save craigX, you convinced me not to buy a gp2x.

  • ein dickes need...

  • Uh, that's just the emulator. Of course it can be changed. It's not hard-coded into the hardware. *rolls eyes*

  • Same as ejcrashed, I am sold. This kicks the PSP's ass in terms of homebrew.

  • @TweeterMan287 you couldve stopped at ass

  • Woa! DonPachi!, i'm sold. It's great to see the hardware working so flawlessly.

  • its like they invented a mame walkman I want one prob run the PS 1 games on it tooor anything made upto 2001 for an y console or PC

  • i just came.

  • *uhhh* same here

  • I just came again.

  • ROFL

  • Great video, and always love those stalker songs. :D

  • can someone tell the name of the song

  • It's by /passenger and is called "Night time Binoculars" =)

  • Schweet, nubie here ;)

  • Well i need more a laptop right now... But maybe for march of 2009. Don't Worry i'm buying only a Classmate PC -like laptop.

So the pandora will be only for games an the laptop for reading and light writting

    Thanks, Great Job!!!

  • Craig, Sam Fisher here, banned on GP32x as you probably know. I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to put this together and collectively apologise for all those ungrateful new folk who are making frankly unjustifiable demands.

Oh, PLEASE do not sell one to Chad78, save us all from his ever lasting torment!

  • Whee! Thanks for the upload craig! Can't wait for it to become available. :)~

  • Yeah. I'm selling my mp3 player for this.

  • So do I ;) Selling my PMP and my GP2X...

  • selling my eee O_O
