Why would it matter if there arent any black people in this show? People nowadays dont care about history nor do they care about helping others. All they care about is money. Common thinking/knowledge, hard work, honesty, hand writing, English skills etc are lost.
@txcountryboy01 This is one of the dumbest comments I have read on a video I posted. I mean, HAND WRITING? I see, when the young apply for a job the first thing they are asked if they know how to write in a cursive hand. Oh, for the record old salt, it's spelled handwriting, not hand writing. No space. My lord!
@ggreenwi My apologies for putting a space there. No its not a dumb comment. Im serious. Those values matter to me and thats what made this country. The fact that people cared and worked an honest living unlike today. For the record Ive been working an honest living for 5 years now. Why the heck does that bother you so much?
@txcountryboy01 Consider thinking about your glass house before throwing stones. Punctuate there buddy, that would be a good start before casting dispersions. Let's take a look at your spew: "People nowadays dont care..." That is "don't"not dont. I'm serious, not Im serious. "that's what made this country, not thats what made this country. My point is, if you are going to condemn an entire generation as being morally lost and then talk about English skills you should at least get that right.
Hilarious, great show, probably the best on TV ever. Black or yellow, red or white, they should laugh at this show's sight, Andy Griffith is the geatest show to me!
umm would u rather have barney tell us what it actually is, and make the show boring or would u rather see him be funny which he was good at, its not a history show,
We are talking about 1960-63 here. Take some time to read up on The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and put this film into context. Also, keep in mind that we are dealing with ONE scene with four people, sitting a breakfast table. I posted the video so take some time to figure out who I am, read the endorsement on my blog, and then let's move on. I don't want to open a dialog about race over The Andy Griffith Show that first aired in 1960, four years before my country got serious about race.
This clip is not funny at all. It is shameful and embarrassing that any adult American in the 1950s, 1960s, etc. would not know what the Emancipation Proclamation is.
JHP19531953 you make the best point. It sickens me that anyone would infer that we "adults" in the 21st century do not know that The Battle of Manila Bay took place on 1 May 1898, AND during the Spanish-American War. I mean Really!
Maybe Barney doesn't know what the Emancipation Proclamation is because he has never seen a black person. Barney doesn't seem to get out a lot. Even I know what the Emancipation Proclamation is and I'm not even American. It's when Lincoln freed the slaves.
The interesting thing about this video clip (other than the humor) is that in another episode, (Class Reunion) Andy was a member of the history club. Shame on the continuity people. This is just great writing and acting!
What episode was this from?

This is a good episode. I like the part when Andy tells opie and his 3 friends about Paul Revere's ride when the British were coming.

Where did all the black people go? I am not familiar with this country. Do only white people live in this area?

It was about a small town in the 60's so it was mostly whites, but I've seen at least 3 black people on this tv show.

You're aware this was a comedy, right? About a fictional sherriff and his lame-brained deputy? "FICTION" is the operative word here.
