  • i feel his pain cdl driver for 19 years.i was 14,000 feet above sea level and had to go down the mountain so i understand i drove 3 gear all the way down and i was in the clouds.4 was just to fast for me.i rather the engine blow then try to stop that bad boy.

  • I Drive A Truck Myself,And Belive Me Thats Not A Fun Ride.Thank God The Driver Is Still With Us,You Can Replace The Truck But You Can't Replace His Life

  • Then your an idiot....

  • To Trip123567 and DieselDog8912 I appreciate your comments, and although i never went into, As much detail as your good self's, I think we are all Trying to say, that with a heavy laden vehicle and a steep long down hill decent, that brake fad or brake part failure can not be ruled out, as what may have caused this accident, other then bad driving

  • that's right mr. driver. you're walking home after this lol.

  • oh my goodness , I hope no one was hurt , thats a tragic sight,

  • if you havent taken a cdl test AND PASSED dont comment on the legitimacy of the crash. because you have no fucking idea how air brakes work (or dont work). and are just speculating as to what could have caused the accident.

  • @Lonewolf6565 No cussing.

  • @Lonewolf6565 I know how train airbrakes work... which is pretty much the opposite of how truck air brakes work...

  • poor guy, but that was an unexperienced truck driver, always travle in higher gear soyou wont lose your brakes. even in cars. if your going down a steep grade, put youre transmition to #2 on your cluster if you have an automatic. that way youll use less brakes.

  • nerd

  • @musclerocker don't you mean drive in "Lower gear" would help save those brakes from fade. I am truck driver and I know that I seen alot of those rooky driver don't get train very well how to use lower gear on down grade hills.

  • really how do you know my mom?

  • bad driver, haha,

    or the road..

    XD.

  • not up on the acronyms........whats XD?

  • it means laughing bud..the ( X ) means both eyes are closed and squinting and the ( D ) is the mouth opened wide while laughing..if you tilt your head to the left u'll imagine what im on about

  • That would be an air tank and if it were a "gas tank" it would have had diesel fuel in it that wouldn't explode brotha.

  • @blak8819 Well...brotha... the aluminum tank on the drivers side is the fuel tank...looks like its got a huge hole in it -dumped the fuel

  • i was waiting for the tow wench to appear - figured she was some mean, ugly ass towie. i think winch was the word they were after.

  • Haha I was totally waiting to see some super haggard old bag right the truck in this one.

  • LOL I fixed it, but that was indeed a hilarious mistake.

  • @billyfever Lol, A winch is a hydraulic cable used to pull cars on tow trucks. It was what was used to tip the truck on it's wheels. They were not trying to say like "tow truck bitch" or anything like that.

  • @stackzmajormusic Originally I spelled winch incorrectly and spelled it wench, but I corrected it. They thought that was pretty funny.

  • Not the best spot to stand with a huge chain under so much tension.

  • Just watching this video again, and have to make you "intheshitter" people stand to close to winch cables, In years before winches had cut outs on them, and you had to listern to to cables sing with the tention that was being put on them, witness a lot of cable failures, and some was not pretty. but saw a winch cable cut through a tree truck 6 inches think, like knife through butter.

  • well so much for that truck and yeah i agree i drive trucks use ur lower gears dumbass

  • driver error brakes do i agree fade however the driver has a gear box to use his lower gears thoefore takeing preasure off his brakes i thoerefore say driver error not useing low gear in hills is just asking for this to happen

  • I agree with you on brake fade, the driver should have been in low gear, but as someone else has pointed out, these drivers, drive to damn fast, :-)

  • yeah thats what i always thought if air brakes fail, they will lock up the tires

  • Right, modern air brakes are equipped w/ spring brakes for safety. The same air pressure used to apply the brakes also holds a set of springs back-- if system pressure is lost, the springs are released and the brakes clamp down. Best case scenario... it happens slowly with time to pull over. The drawback... if all pressure is lost suddenly, it will cause wheels to immediately lock up during driving and complete loss of control. A possible cause in this video.

  • thats why you see no skids

  • @robby844 He was sliding on his side from the intersection to the garage. The skids are at the base of the steep hill which isn't in view on the video, blocked by trees.

  • No fully loaded dump truck will ever lock the wheels.

  • I've locked my wheels up in a tandem dump truck on the highway weighing it at 65000 pounds. It all depends on the condition of the braking system, your brake adjustment and initial application pressure.

  • with a loaded truck the brakes would not have locked with only spring brake pressure..

  • Brake failer is caused by overheated brakes or Mechanical Failer, Brakes require friction to work, Brake pads or shoe's press on steel drums or disc's, Where there is prolonged use of brakes parts overheat, Steel brake brums expand with heat away from brake shoe's and brake disc's overheat and start to melt reducing friction, in this cause we have a large heavy vehicle and a long decent on a hill where prolonged use of the brakes may be needed.

  • The hill he had traveled is long, winding and quite steep.

  • @TidePools Most hills like that are off limits to big trucks. Wonder if he was riding brakes instead of downshifted...

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNameIsBEATTIE no, they dont melt...only in EXTREME situations, and not so much there... and as for the expansion of the steel, it is minimal compared to the movement that the break shoes have. the heat created by friction reduces the coefficient of friction, hence something called brake fade.

  • @TheNameIsBEATTIE actually if it was a smart driver he would of been using his jake brake most rig drivers know this and usually do not ride the brakes in the vehicle because of this plus the drums are not steel they are cast iron and if they did expand away the brake shoes would actually run them selves closer to the drum usually brake fade is the result of heat causing a smooth surface on the drum wich will not allow the shoes to get any friction or they crack and fall apart

  • Most American trucks have what is known as a "Jack brake" fitted to their engine to help assist heavy vehicles desent on hills, Back presure in the cylinders helps slow the vehicle, and reduces the need for prolong use of the friction brakes

  • Nice to see the driver was all O.K.

  • brakes failed ? how ? its air brakes if air pressure is lost springs come on to stop the truck !

  • Most accidents are caused by driver error. But, they blame the vehicle anyway.

  • IF the brakes are out of adjustment, They wont catch, Even though the spring brake will be released the slack adjusters will still be pushed in causin the tires to be roaming freely. Its still dirver error though.

  • That looked to be a really nice dump. Terrible waste.

  • he should have put blocks under the tires so the lugs dont tear up the driveway, he should have had roll prevention sticks behind and infront of the tires so it didnt roll into the house agian, his hook up point caused more domage to a salavgeable dump box and he never draged the causitly away form the house at the very start so it would not cause more damage to the house and not cause mor restiance while uprighting the causitly.

  • scrapyard0g, Listen guy I am sure you are a hero from your home town wrecker service but there are a few things very evident from reading your comment; 1) you used to coulda drive a wrecker and now you don't, wonder why? 2) you can't spell for shit 3) there is no where on Earth where a broke ass truck is a causitly (casualty) only a dead person is a causitly. Go back to scanning bar codes at the bomb shelter and reading grandma her bed time stories.

  • I used to drive a hd wrecker, why did the tow driver cause more damage to the house and have such a poor hook-up to the causitly? oh yeha, he didnt know what the hell he was doing!

  • Brakes failed. I don't buy it. I know alot of dump truck drivers. get paid by the load. more loads more money. faster driving =more loads. He was too fast.25MPG could be too fast.

  • Not to mention when air brakes fail.. the tires lock up.. not the reverse of that. when the air pressure is released the brake pads grab.

  • Pls visit comment again (1 month age)

  • dumb truck

  • did the guy live"?

  • He walked away. He's at the very end of the video. Amazing.

  • lucky ;p

  • UUUUmmm...Your load of sand is her, hope ya dont mind that i took the liberty to put inside the house :-)

  • now that the driver can see under the truck someone should probly show him what slack adjusters are

  • i see he crushed the lawn more so they have insurance for lawnmores

  • 17 times cars have smashed into vehicles parked in front of this garage in as many years. The hill is steep!

  • Nice too see the driver got out,

The insurance company can pick up the price for the house call.
