I'm a newbie but here goes. I believe we have the capacity to enjoy life AND make the world better for everyone, especially those with little hope.
I'm 47, lost everything in a house fire 5 years back, starting over now and looking to bring hope to the world.
In that spirit, I made a nonprofit channel and a video. If you still believe in love and hope, check it out please. I know you're all busy so it'd be an honor for me if you do.
Just Google Google "DF Def Master - State of Mind 2.0."
wtf good did yoko ever do ? she should've been gunned down in a rice field , stead she destroyed one of the best bands ever created. DEAR Yoko, you sound like a dying possum , STFU and go back to hell succubus. put a gun in your mouth.
@rustfeind How dare you be so uneducated and so racist. All Lennon was trying to do was make peace a chance and apparently you didnt get it....nonviolent.....peace on earth. Rice fields....really who are you?
“He's a real Nowhere Man, / Sitting in his Nowhere Land, / Making all his nowhere plans for nobody. / Doesn't have a point of view, / Knows not where he's going to, / Isn't he a bit like you and me?” - John Lennon
Let's not waste the lives of those we have lost. Let's, together, make the world a place of love and joy and not a place of fear and anger. Very accurate and true words.
I love it, John lennon was one of theses people we ALL should listen to and try to stop WARS and cherish PEACE for all living creature in our wonderful world .
what is funny that on the end he became like the people he was fighting aginst, people that fight and he was for peace, and he started joining with black panters and he realy fought not much real peace there. sad but true
@smallpotatoes989 Not funny, not true and ur stupid. Maybe you should rename yourself "stupidpotatoes1". How old are you and where did you get your warped information?
@scizotts wow insult after insult and screaming like a woman: you are wrong!
man you are not at all pleasant peron, I like John and yoko but the fact is if you are not gonna fight, there are bad bad people in the world and if they come in to your country with tanks you can not give them a flower. there are people like me, you and John, that want peace but there are bad people.so take Malcom x advice: carry yourself in respectable way but if somebody lies his hand on you do not let him
@smallpotatoes989 No, you are wrong and you didn't answer the question. How old are you and where did you get your information? Yes John associated with groups who were militantly opposed to the repression of their cause, but he did not join in militant acts. Singing is not a militant act. Facing "fact" is one of the excuses of all war-waging peoples. John and Yoko were spreading the work and words of many religious and philosphical leaders throughout time: "Turn the other cheek".
@smallpotatoes989 Thanks 4 equating me with the noble woman - another of their high causes - even if she IS screaming. And no, I am "NOT at all a pleasant person" when facts are distorted to further one's OWN beliefs or hide their ignorance. U R a reactionary, and have the right to be so. We do not agree with you, and YES there are other ways to fight without hurting a soul. That was John and Yoko's way as it was Ghandi's & Jesus' & others for whom ''an eye 4 an eye" made no senese but to blind.
@scizotts I belived in John and peace, then I got a job, and people push you in a job, so you have to become one of them. make that go away and I will be the first one to follow you in your dream land of peace and love. Pacifist usualy get killed. they all did: jesus, ghandi, lennon, many other realy. sad but true.I am just a ordinary man and I do not want to get killed and if I do not do pacifist things and only write here how John is great but in life do something other I am not real
@smallpotatoes989 John was murdered by an insane person. He wasn't assassinated for his beliefs and actions. Persecuted, yes. He also admitted his weaknesses as a human being. The reality is that people of conviction or means are often the ones who preach the dream, and live it as best they can. We can do our part in our small worlds by believing and voting. No one asks sainthood or martyrdom from us. We can live in reality but make the dream reality with small actions that add up among us.
@scizotts but he was so right about society being run by insaine people. just look at bankers, and how the power elite is doing now with.so he had a point. but how are you gonna solve the bigest mistake in devine plan?
@smallpotatoes989 The biggest mistake was eating from the tree of knowledge !! (HA!) Again, it is our small actions (like voting) which can close the gap between the poor and "power elite". By containing our materialism - a task even George Harrison found difficult - we can make small progress. Philosophy is much easier than action, so the trick is to find the balance that leans toward the goal of our philosophy, setting an example for others. It's our choice every day.
Thank you for sharing such intimate perspectives with us now, and ever since you knew John. I see no better way, relationship or person for him to have shared his awakenings and freedom of expressions than you. We really can't 'stop' the pain, but as you said, it can be channeled into what John stood for - and with you. Thank you infinity and I'll start doing my best NOW. Now that I have seen and read this for the first time. Much Love, much Peace and much success in this and all your endeavors.
Where John explains, most clearly, what he and Yoko were aiming at-- I especially like, the powers are insane. A few steps left out in, 'we DO have the power, " but it's true we have the power if we figured out how to use it. “On what does the survival of oppression depend? On us! On whom must we depend for its demolition? On ourselves!” - Bertolt Brecht.
A little naive and over simplified. Maybe John is dumbing down his message so that the masses can wrap their minds around his ideas. But to simply state that the people have the power is insincere at best. The people have never had the power, the super wealthy people have always had the power and revolution, unless it is completely unified, will never wrest the power from the elite, because the masses will always be fractured along some lines.
War is over IF you WANT it. One must fist IMAGINE something is possible in order for that thing or state to come about, into being. Imagine a world at peace without war. Defy the naysayers and allow yourself your own thoughts. It costs nothing, could give you everything, and it's a great idea. Imagine it, then ACT to make it a reality. Stop concentrating on what divides us. It is that which all people have in common that will bring solutions to the worlds problems, peacefully.
2011 this Housewife is writing a poem as another boat of Afghan refugees has sunk off the Java coast. War is Over in some places. Happy Christmas Yoko and loved one - enjoy the present(s).xx
On December 15, 2011, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta officially declared the Iraq War over, at a flag lowering ceremony in Baghdad. The last U.S. combat troops left Iraqi territory on December 18, 2011 at 4:27 UTC
So true & 31 years later after John was taken from us he was so right the world leaders were insane & they still are today (maybe even worse). John how we miss you still & we need you now.
The problem is this; people listen to this song around Christmas and go "oh yeah this is such a great song, such a great message, the best Christmas song EVAR!", and then the next day they go voting for the same people who support the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
War is over if people want it, but most people in the West don't really care unless it affects them directly. True story. :/
@Malangyar pay attention to what you said; "most people in the west"? no one culture is all of anything. not all americans. not all anyone. there are intelligent people in the states just like there are intelligent people all over the world. sadly, there are people full of hate all over the world, too. and if you start judging or condemning, you are turning into one of those bad people. be careful what you say and think. remember all of us are going through tough times like you.
So very powerful and so true, even 40 years later. The Leaders are insane, we live in insane times, it would be so good if things could be different, and there was some decency in Washington and so many places. We got robbed Dec. 8th 1980, big time. We sure could use John Now.
Dear Yoko and Sean, Peace, and we all miss John. And thank GOD for The Beatles too. :) John will always live on in all our hearts and beings. I'm very proud of you Yoko for bringing up Sean to the man and the musician he has become. His Dad looks down from the heavens and smiles on him for this I am sure. God Bless you and have a very Merry Christmas Beatle Terry
The message of Love and Peace, John was striving for, is still true to this day, Miss you John and your message of world and individual Love, Peace, harmony and happiness and to treat each other and the planet with respect.
For those trying to go onto the link posted in the description, it's wrong. There's an extra i after is in the link above. Just wanted to clarify! Peace and Love to all. Link ends with: /warisover
When you hear the same song by Lennon and again you'll notice that every time you say something different, once you speak of love, one peace, unity, but never tell you the same thing, please, listen, take your time.
continuity between all the work that John did all his life, Peace This Christmas gift, we give unconditional love, tenderness and blue happy Christmas!
We should give Peace a chance. So when Iran kills millions of jews, Somali rebels kill innocent villagers, Hezbollah threaten the lives for their own agenda we will say to them, Peace! And then they'll stop completely.
There are those who love and those who hate, which is completely acceptable; but then there are also those who hate to love, and love to hate. If you are going to hate- hate sin, not the sinner. If you are going to love- love everything with a genuine respect. Be weary not to fall in love with falling in love, and be cautious not to be hardened and poisoned with hatred.
I made it a tradition starting last year to watch this video every year around christmas time, and I will continue to do so, it is a very emotional video with a great message, an eye for an eye will make us all blind
My feelings about the images of the injured, dead children turned from profund grief, to absolute anger. Moving beyond the anger is the only way to get to love. Compassion, loving-kindness, joy for others' happness, and equanimity for all. These are the things that will plant the sees of love.
Thank you. This short video is the perfect clip (for me anyway) to honor John's memory on this day; so appropriate. Just posted to FB. Thank you Yoko. Thank you John.
Music can do more for humanity with one song than a "politician" with twenty speeches. More power + influence in music than any mind-numbing "news" media combined. They don't make money out of peace, unity and love. They make money out of war, division and hate.. Lennon= the original real deal Truther. Before it became a govcorp controlled cia co-opted 'movement'..Humans like John are the ones who truly make a difference in this world.. _Real_ threats to the power structure never last long.
Hi Yoko, I woke up and was wanting to hear, War Is Over, It brought me here. I was 13 when John was murdered. Very sad day. At age 5, I brought a Beatles album to school, We had music class that day, the teacher said we do not play that kind of music in this school. The south here is a strange place. My heart goes out to you and Sean, I noticed you really stand with Sean and his music, that is a great bond u 2 have, Im sorry the trauma from that day haunts you. I Love you, and Sean. Peace out!
1963 John Kennedy assassinated, 1968 Martin Luther King assassinated, 1968 Bob Kennedy assassinated, 1960s-70s Latin America CIA sponsored military coups, 1980 John Lennon is dead. All people who represented equality and anything liberal and to the left were all wiped out. Ended freedom, liberty, equality, civil rights, and any decency in mankind. Good luck to the Human race, you are going to need it.
@ProjectRugged the army nowadays trie to make freedom and peace. so if you want peace, war has to be done first. think about north-korea and countries like that. but i see your point.
peace will be at christmas!
greetz from the netherlands and a merry christmas =)
We wont get world peace unless we have one currency, freedom too live were we want too and accept all as one.One world and even all religions come together in mass forgiveness too feed the world. lets live peace work together as one world.
This message has such power. When I first watched it I almost burst into tears. John Lennon standing up for a cause. Great. We do need peace for this generation. Our minds have to change. If only everyone could see this vid. What a difference it would make. Give peace a chance and let the children dance!

@rg2027x Oh yeah? Gandhi was a politician, he did a lot more than Lennon...throwing political ideas into songs is complete bs, music is not rational, it appeals to our emotions...and emotions should have noting to do with politics, cause that's how a government becomes 'insane'...Politics inside music is always just a way persuade the weak by strong emotions, while speeches usually try to convince through arguments... there's no pb in being a dreamer, but it doesn't mean you have to talk bs
@AnomiEj Yikes! What a harsh "response". You sure took personal offense to my lil comment. I wonder why? Music is the ultimate form of truth that transcends any political bull shit. Speeches are written by script writers for puppets to parrot. You claim govt becomes "insane" due to emotions. LOL! you kidding? They have no emotions. They have no soul. No concern for the human condition. It's all about money, power, control. This world is run by creatures who don't listen to music anyway.
@rg2027x Since "Music is the ultimate form of truth that transcends any political bull shit.", nazi music makes nazism is great, right?Don't you understand that music can be used by anybody, and that the message it conveys can be either good or bad,and that in this kind of music, music becomes a simple tool...which1)is dangerous cause emotions are stronger than reason for 'weak' people 2) denatures music: it's the music itself we should listen to, not the ideas inside, even if they're 'good'.
@AnomiEj The problem with music today, it has no meaning. It's (ab)used as a tool by establishment to dumb down humanity, not to unite+ empower. Result is society is more divided, apathetic than ever. Politicians run amok committing crimes to no concern. People don't care about anything important, as they did in days of socially conscious music. If we had artists like Lennon writing songs with message & meaning that empowers the People over politicoid criminals, our world would be much better.
nope.If people need music to "care about anything important", then they're just dumb fucks, and democracy has no meaning to exist.Plus, you're saying general stuff like "politicians are committing crimes" but you don't give any examples. Even if it were true, don't think it was different before.
You're saying the music today has no meaning, wrong again. Most of music today exists because it's a good business.I have to admit it's even more disgusting than engaged music.
@AnomiEj Just cuz music became "good business" doesnt make it meaningful. Just cheapened into vapid corporate product. $ over substance
examples of politicoid crimes. LOL! Where u been? the jig is up on your troll attempt
What does someone like u consider "valid' to get ppl caring about anything important, TV? School? Books? Yet to u, music doesnt qualify, u consider "dumbfuck" anyone gaining enlightenment from music. But if they got same values from books, that be "intelligent" right
@gordogreat74 My point was that you hating those things is actually what people should focus on if they want to get rid of war. It's not about removing hate; it's about focusing your love on peaceful activities, and focusing your hate towards the evils of this world. Love and Hate are just opposite sides of the same coin, and you have to effectively use both if you want to change anything.
Great video, hard to watch at times but this is the world we live in, people need to understand they have the power like john & yoko said. Give peace a chance.
Very nice. Yoko & John were so young here. An inspired artist that cared about other people. Yes John Lennon was a beautiful person. No one is perfect but he cared. I never seen these video's before so it's quite cool. Must have been cool to be there and know him or be his partner at the time.
What a great video; I love to see this kind of footage. He (John) knew how to speak so well and was such an awesome leader even after he has left us he still speaks to us through great footage like this.
Do you think people saying that Mark David Chapman was a government assassin is valid...? I almost feel like it's a way to blame the gov't. I don't really see a difference between an angry madman or a hired murderer. John...died...either way. It still created the same effect. Tore apart some lives. Instead of blaming, I think we should go on carrying his message of peace and love, to prevent the worst of what mankind can offer from emerging, whether it be gov't corruption or senseless killing.
@James76TV No actually it was a mentally insane man who thought he could be just as good as him,if you look it up there's a documentary on him and he says some pretty strange things.
How ironic that the United States declares peace through killing ...it's now the American way! Come invest in the war machine wall street blood suckers! You're guarenteed a stock that won't drop! I pray in my lifetime that the power shifts back into the peoples hands, tyranny is almost 100 % complete in this country, the window is closing if Americans do not wake up.
Great John and Yoko, brilliant idea to use advertising for something (really) useful.
They using their money for peace, for something not profitable and beautiful, that is quite rare now a days... but maybe is not impossible. Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much for the invite...I had been meaning to ask you about the chocolate cake--why'd you put it in a bag first? But all I could see then was the neck of the giraffe as it went by the window...The meaning of it all seems so much clearer now...but it's easy...
Love the song and the video. Have embedded it on my site greatprotestsongsDOTcom/anti-war-songs/ can you check this is OK with you? Click on the War is overl thumbnail below the feature. If not then leave a comment at the bottom of that page and I will remove. If you do like the site then please leave a comment and LIKE it on FB :-) Love your work - thanks!
Have a look at this people type in truthcontest in google click 1st link-The Truth Contest|Universal Truth of Life
Then click on the link The Present and read the section titled The Beatles.I really think beatles fans especially need to look at this site. There is lots other really interesting info on the site which got my attention.
The gift of our present collective knowledge is that those with the intelligence see Peace has to be the path to sustain humanity. To continue an escalating state of shock and biological trauma is to put our species at risk of collapse. It's not just other species. Humans should not be so arrogant or in denial. We've all played a part in tipping the scales and we all have to take a part in supporting a natural life with less stress and no tolerance for violence against nations or people, now
I wish getting peace was as easy as saying, "I want peace." Unfortunately, I don't think that's the way it works. It is a good message, but I think as long as there are people on this earth, true peace can never come. We all just have to make sure our own lives are as peaceful as we can make them.
It is so true what John said in a way.. WE me and you and each and everyone of us makes a difference.. Because even the biggest President or king.. is just ONE man, and have NO power if he stands alone!!!!!! So we ALL are able to make a difference in this world if we WANT to!!! GREAT and Very Touching video! Thank You for putting it up for us!!!
I keep finding my way back to this specific video, when I browse the world of YouTube, so I suppose something's telling me to leave a comment at long last. This is a beautiful video and I very much love the beautiful words you've left for your husband. I feel the love all the way from Sweden. Oh, and I watched the musicvideo "Happy Christmas - War is over" and I remember the song from when I was a little girl. Mom played it so often, sang and cried - and I burst out in tears listening again...
And the delicate point of feeling is love, not love in the ordinary sense of term, but this sun inside which condenses and collects in its ardent focus all the superhuman aspirations and disclosure.
The law of love replaces the personality by the fusion of beings, extinguishes the social miseries.

Yoko, you speak kindly of him and with a great deal of respect for him.

On December 15, 2011, U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta officially declared the Iraq War over, at a flag lowering ceremony in Baghdad. The last U.S. combat troops left Iraqi territory on December 18, 2011 at 4:27 UTC

Merry xmas Yoko & Sean.

True story. :/
Malangyar 1 month ago
@Malangyar pay attention to what you said; "most people in the west"? no one culture is all of anything. not all americans. not all anyone. there are intelligent people in the states just like there are intelligent people all over the world. sadly, there are people full of hate all over the world, too. and if you start judging or condemning, you are turning into one of those bad people. be careful what you say and think. remember all of us are going through tough times like you.

My feelings about the images of the injured, dead children turned from profund grief, to absolute anger. Moving beyond the anger is the only way to get to love. Compassion, loving-kindness, joy for others' happness, and equanimity for all. These are the things that will plant the sees of love.

Peace out!

AnomiEj 4 months ago
@AnomiEj Yikes! What a harsh "response". You sure took personal offense to my lil comment. I wonder why? Music is the ultimate form of truth that transcends any political bull shit. Speeches are written by script writers for puppets to parrot. You claim govt becomes "insane" due to emotions. LOL! you kidding? They have no emotions. They have no soul. No concern for the human condition. It's all about money, power, control. This world is run by creatures who don't listen to music anyway.
rg2027x 4 months ago
@rg2027x Since "Music is the ultimate form of truth that transcends any political bull shit.", nazi music makes nazism is great, right?Don't you understand that music can be used by anybody, and that the message it conveys can be either good or bad,and that in this kind of music, music becomes a simple tool...which1)is dangerous cause emotions are stronger than reason for 'weak' people 2) denatures music: it's the music itself we should listen to, not the ideas inside, even if they're 'good'.
AnomiEj 4 months ago
@AnomiEj The problem with music today, it has no meaning. It's (ab)used as a tool by establishment to dumb down humanity, not to unite+ empower. Result is society is more divided, apathetic than ever. Politicians run amok committing crimes to no concern. People don't care about anything important, as they did in days of socially conscious music. If we had artists like Lennon writing songs with message & meaning that empowers the People over politicoid criminals, our world would be much better.
rg2027x 4 months ago 4
@rg2027x
nope.If people need music to "care about anything important", then they're just dumb fucks, and democracy has no meaning to exist.Plus, you're saying general stuff like "politicians are committing crimes" but you don't give any examples. Even if it were true, don't think it was different before.
You're saying the music today has no meaning, wrong again. Most of music today exists because it's a good business.I have to admit it's even more disgusting than engaged music.
AnomiEj 1 month ago
@AnomiEj Just cuz music became "good business" doesnt make it meaningful. Just cheapened into vapid corporate product. $ over substance
examples of politicoid crimes. LOL! Where u been? the jig is up on your troll attempt
What does someone like u consider "valid' to get ppl caring about anything important, TV? School? Books? Yet to u, music doesnt qualify, u consider "dumbfuck" anyone gaining enlightenment from music. But if they got same values from books, that be "intelligent" right

@gordogreat74 So do you HATE commercialism, religion, and power struggles?
Greed and hate are human emotions - anything short of drugging ourselves into complacency will not remove hatred or greed from the human psyche.
Bulldog22031 6 months ago
@Bulldog22031 You're right, I do HATE all those things & I didn't say it would be easy or even possible in this world.
gordogreat74 6 months ago
@gordogreat74 My point was that you hating those things is actually what people should focus on if they want to get rid of war. It's not about removing hate; it's about focusing your love on peaceful activities, and focusing your hate towards the evils of this world. Love and Hate are just opposite sides of the same coin, and you have to effectively use both if you want to change anything.

This is a beautiful video and I very much love the beautiful words you've left for your husband. I feel the love all the way from Sweden.
