  • I think they used the same house for Abbey Grange as they did for Stoke Moran in "The Speckled Band." At least for the exterior shots because they look an awful lot alike. Anyone agree??

  • @LeeKatherine20 Yes, I do. It must be indeed the same house. :-)

  • Jeremy Brett was /is the best Holmes ever!

  • @PianoLove1968 yes, indeed. Amen!

  • @iamjithu5 His expressions, intonation, mannerisms, poise, elegant style- just brilliant! I love the conversation he has with the chap about the goose in The Blue Carbuncle- that was hilarious! I prefer David Burke's Watson- as he was also funny and seemed to set Jeremy off- they played off each other with expressions and quips!

  • His reaction to hugging is much better than mine.

  • They should make posters of 31:35 frame

  • Holmes: "Come, Watson, the game is afoot!"

    Watson: "5 more minutes..."

  • "You have other injuries Madam"

"Its nothing, I got them falling down a ripping great hole when I was rock climbing cobber......"

  • so Captain Croker was friendzoned. :D

  • "..be frank with me and we may do some good, play tricks with me and I'll crush you"..way to go Holmes

  • aww, Holmes was embarrassed that a woman would throw herself at him! Kinda cute:) Or maybe he's thinking, Lady, PLEASE! your man is RIGHT THERE and could kill me just as easily! ha ha!

  • Lady Brackenstall is so cute...

  • Yes, this series was highly, highly commendable.

It allowed the absurdities and melodrama of the original stories to co-exist with the genius creation that Conan Doyle stumbled upon.

Jeremy Brett will always be, now, because of the high production values at the time of filming, THE Sherlock Holmes.

  • The game is afoot! Yay! He finally said it!!! And nobody has ever said it so well as Jeremy. Oh I love him!!!

  • this part was fantastic

  • 10:09 Lady Mary is playing a game of Clue.

  • That was a pretty intense fight at the end. Dang!

  • great!!!

  • I think she should have offed him herself. she married him. (not risk that poor man swinging for it.)

they'd be more likely to go easy on a woman acting in self-defense against a brutal husband then about a much poorer ships officer who was in love with her.

    justice is justice.

  • 48:41 Holmes's reaction is priceless!!!

  • the game is a foot :P

  • It's from a ballet, I think, but not sure which one.

  • Lady Mary Brackenstall is played by Anne-Louise Lambert...the mysterious Miranda of "Picnic At Hanging Rock"

  • What is the name of this music, I beg of you. The love theme leitmotif at the end that identifies the couple?

  • 48:45

Holmes: Gah! She's toutching me, get her off! XD

  • @BazilBentley that's so funny

  • Thanks a lot I was looking for this. The Abbey Grange is one of my favorites! Such a great story and great actors. Thanks again!!

  • This was the first episode that Edward Hardwicke and Jeremy Brett filmed together. I must say, it is also one of the best of the series I think. Both Brett and Hardwicke were in top form. Very, very excellent. :)

  • @Lyrictheac oh so the empty house wasn't their 1st together? thx for telling :) didn't know it until now hehe

  • @wincipoet Yup! I heard about it in an interview with Edward Harwicke. I think I could find the link for it if you want...
