@maceuz Did I say she was THE BEST? I said one of the best. Both Freddie and Steve are like Gods to me. Both are all time faves on my list. But Steve's voice is gone and has been for a long time. He was still one of the best in his time though. I'm just saying that Ann Wilson is overlooked as being one of the great rock voices. Examples (not complete): Freddie, Steve Perry, Robin Zander, Paul Stanley, Sammy Hagar, Steve Walsh, Geddy Lee, Paul Rogers, Ann Wilson, Phil Lynott, Robert Plant, Ozzy.
As a young child this was on the radio and my favorite music. Special thanks to HEART for this performance. Such pure rock in a profound and unique time for rock music. For those of u not around back then, this music is magic. It changed and affected many lives.
They blew ELO off the stage and when ELO did go on, they dubbed their sound and got caught in L.A. and got beer and everything else tossed at them, and they said :FK you LA" and walked off.. Then Heart came back out and finished the album.. It was spectacular!
Mike Fisher talks about those speakers and the dry ice on Roger's web site. They designed and built those speakers themselves. The full mix of instruments was present in all the speakers and they could all hear themselves anywhere on the stage (that enabled them to run around, which they did a lot). Unfortunately, I think the Midnight Special under-mic'd Ann for this performance. Ann practically has to eat her mic to push herself high enough in the mix to hear herself.
@ponata3 Cheated on Nancy, Nancy dated drummer, tensions in band caused him to freak out on stage, was fired by Ann shortly after. Was part of crappy ballad band 'Alias' in 80's, then didn't really do much after. Too bad, the original lineup was by far the best.
I prefer the studio version vocals on this one...it's fun to watch Ann start out with that cartoonish voice and then let her self to into her trademark WAILS...
Whenever I'm in the car, and I got dibs on full radio rights, I always switch it to the local classic rock station. And if hearts is to begin playing, I get to serenade all my friends with my... er... beautiful voice.
This bad was so hot in the 70's and these sisters burned a hole in the world they were so hot. Once of the best voices EVER. I love that I was in college these years!!! Still they rock in the 2010's
Anne has the best female rock vocals of all time, nobody can belt it out so clear and loud as she does and her sister sure plays a mean guitar. Is there any girl duo today that can match their awesome sound...NOPE!
MORE! MORE! MORE! I live in the Northwest, and Heart rarely get play, even on classic rock stations. Sad, sick and wrong. This band is a national treasure.
Nice. One Question though. Did Burt Sugarman impose a time restraint on them? Crazy on You was full length but not Magic Man. Would have loved to see a full length performance of this song.
