I cant download the xp mode because when i click any of the other types of windows 7 types, like premium, the website makes me get a compatibility check and the download never stars. Can anyone tell me how to get past this? Its such bs that windows wont let home premium users use this function. I paid for it too, why shouldn't i be allowed to use this function?

To solve the hard disk problem: Go back to the VirtualXPVHD base file and right click it. Go to Properties, Security, Edit..., Users, and check Full Control. That should do it.

Everyone having the problem (Unable to write to Hard drive) simple fix right click the virtual hard drive select properties and then security and select edit and select your user account and let if have full control. YOUR WELCOME!

Hmph, thats what I get .. I have 64bit home premium. You are not eligible to download Windows XP Mode. You must have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate to run Windows XP Mode. To upgrade visit Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade.

I did have to activate XP after installation, but all worked fine. I installed it on Win7Home Premium x64 and activated XP with an OEM key from the same manufacturer of the PC. Look up the keys on the Internet for your manufacturer. I tried a couple until one worked and activated online. Thank you for your help.

thank you. people who are having trouble because VPC says can't write on XP Mode or something. you MUST cut and paste and once you change the file extension to .vhd, do it again to the same file and select it as the virtual hard disk when creating the virtual machine.

Haha sorry about this, but I think that the updates have been updated or something more because when I try to open either one of them, a message box pops up that says "This update is not applicable to your computer." I'm thinking it's detecting that I am running Home Premium, not Professional or Ultimate.
