  • Ei toi lausunta kyllä mitään erinomasta ollu.

  • the dudeson's made me interested.

  • Does anyone know a video or site teaches you how to construct a finnish sentence rather than just memorizing them?

  • @leafs121688 let me tell you something i`m from finland and answer to that is... no! in finnish you can construct the same sentence in about 5-6 ways so its not possible. but i can try to help you if you PM me. i hope ill be able to help :)

  • BBC helped you out didn't they.

  • Missä vitussa vessa on?

    Minä menen paskalle.

  • 00:34 - Text "Minun nimeni on..." but the woman says "Minun nimi on...". Almost.

  • @MrHiddenryu nimi is the correct form, so they probably made a typo.

  • @MrHiddenryu "Minun nimeni on" is the correct form in standard language. The basic form of the noun "name" is "nimi", and in a sentence "my name" there are "minun" and "nimi" plus a possessive suffix "-ni". The expression "minun nimeni" is actually tautological, because "nimeni" already means "my name" in itself. That's why in spoken language people often drop the possessive suffix and use the basic form instead after a possessive pronoun (like in this case: "minun nimi").

  • @TakenbyTolstoy Took the words right out of my mouth ...

  • @MHumberto Only that you would have explained it a lot better, being a sovereign expert in Fenno-Ugric languages (and only after two weeks of study!).

  • ok first i thought it was you speaking, haha i was like wow you really learned fast!

  • minun nimi on

  • Anteeksi, missä on WC?

  • Meidän suomalaisten ja norjalaisten pitää pitää yhtä, meillä on niin paljon yhteistä ja vihaamme ruottalaisia. We finnish and norwegian guys must keep company, because we have so much in common together and we hate swedish people.

  • @TheCaessar

  • jee suomi rules noot :// kuka haluis oppii suomee

  • NORWAY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    c.finland

  • @TheThePeLLe NOT

  • Lol @ The Finns and Norwegians comment-fighting.

  • miten voi olla noin vaikeeta

  • "Minun nimeni on" is spelled "Minun nimi on" lololol WROOOOOOOOOOOONG.

  • @KyoDie90 You are wrong..

  • EVERYBODY NORWAY IS BETTER TRUST ME

  • @gardenqueen12 NO NORWY IS BULLSHIT FINLAND FTW DUDE

  • @gardenqueen12 NORWAY sucks

  • @Pupusti you suck and finland SUCKS GO NORWAY

  • @gardenqueen12 and why finland sucks

  • Very good.

  • My biggest reason for wanting to learn Finnish is my pure respect for there musical talent. All the greatest musicians I've ever heard come from Finland they are so consistent with coming out with great music its unbelievable. Finntroll, Turisas, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Kalmah, Imperanon, etc, need i go on? Pure genius musical talent.

  • @Trollberzerk It's gonna be interesting to see what happens over the next few years as already much of Finnish culture is becoming a bit anti-immigrant and then all of us Finn-metal loving foreigners are going to arrive out of the blue wanting to become part of the incredible nation.

  • @Nightcreature12

Oh no, Finns are mostly amused and flattered by that. No biggie.

  • @Nightcreature12 ahhahah thats so true

  • Tip. Recite the same as written.

  • Sounds like Icelandic, haha :D

  • why i should learn finnish ?

  • @69Peopleshit Why did you click on this video?

  • @Freshbott2 arvaa

  • @69Peopleshit Okay so clearly you're Finnish which I didn't know, in which case, why would you ask why to learn Finnish?

  • @Freshbott2 cause finland sucks! its fucking stupid police state

  • @69Peopleshit If you came and lived where I live, you'd be begging for government intervention on everything.

  • @Freshbott2 where u live then?

  • @69Peopleshit The Kimberly, Australia.

  • I can't really explain why without being branded a racist.

  • @Freshbott2 ok

  • @Freshbott2

    lol, so true

  • @sekotauti lol so wtf ftw

  • "-Tarvitsen apua."

    Niin tosiaan tarttetkin :D

Ja vika ; "-Anteeksi, missä on WC?) Hyvä päätös

    tollekin videolle :D

Ja ei enkkulaiset tosta opi mtn.

  • Minun nimeni on, eikä vittu minun nimi on. Opettele puhumaan miten kirjoitetaan.

  • What's up with the description? Your English is just that bad or is it some slang?

  • actually, these are all really bad examples. the weight of individual words is always on the first syllable, but this woman pronounces all of the words as a series of words (sentence), all separated by commas, putting the emphasis on the last syllable. big difference between how to emphasize words alone, and how they sound like in a sentence.

  • @Kanine11 There really is not meaning to it. It's more like that they just can't be in the same word. there is not really anything to it, they just aren't.

  • this is bullshit. all you really need to know is PERKELE

  • kiitos :D

  • oh yeahhh, hell yeaa finnish is easy! :D

  • Finnish is fucking easy language < 3

  • hauska tavata could be too nice to meet u. im from finland (;

  • Am I the only one who finds the Finnish language sexy?

  • @demonhunter35

Nope, definately not... im in *raises hand*

  • @demonhunter35 not at all ;D

  • The funny thing is I think I use Anteeksi, missa on WC more than anything lol

  • this may sound funny but i can talk english betetr than finnish and i am from finnish :)

  • @68akuankka Well I guess your finnish then really sucks if that's how you good your english is.

  • @68akuankka i dont belive you ! you made alot off spelling misstakes in this comment XD

  • @68akuankka Can you speak any language then? Your English is complete failure.

  • Kiitos.Good video.

  • I have a lot of Finnish relatives down the line so if I ever go visit these will be useful :)

  • "Minun Nimeni on" sounds strange on this video, it sounds like she is saying "Minun Nime on"

  • @Muirselgas She says "Minun nimi on" which is grammatically wrong, actually. It's partly spoken and partly written language. But in spoken language we usually just say "Mun nimi on".

  • @ADreamForTheDeath really? i gotta fire my finnish teacher...

  • @Muirselgas haha, don't :) Even all Finns don't know it's wrong. Our teachers have a difficult job to get some people understand it.

  • I'm learning a little of Finnish because I met an awesome friend from there, he's teaching me some words, but I almost learned the whole Alphabet and spelling.

  • For "WC" spelling just look for a Finnish Alphabet video, and they'll say the C and W names, and after that you just have to say the name of the letters like in English, you should say WC (Double u, ce)

  • vittusaatananperkele!

  • thank you!

  • Finnish is such a cool language. =DDD

  • Juu ei suomea näin kyllä puhuta... Possessiivisuffiksi puuttuu.

  • from this, its like german and spanish. to me at least

  • @AnubisEye009 But it has nothing to do with german and spanish. The basics of Finnish are totally different when comparing to most other languages. For example, theres none prepositions or articles in Finnish. Instead Finnish has tons of suffixes. Example: "puhua" is a Finnish verb that means "talk". "Puhutko" means "do you talk" "puhuisitko" means "would you talk" "puhuisin" means "i would talk" and so on. With adding suffixes you can spell many finnish words over 2000 different ways

  • @Supersomonerandom

I think that is because is is a Uralic language, not a Germanic, or a Latin based or anything. It is quite unique.

  • voi perkele!!!....

  • @keylllogdark

    Don´t use bad language :P

By the way, Perkele is the name of an awesome swedish band ^^

  • Good to know this !!

I'll be living in Finland for the next year so I'm trying to study it online :')

  • Haluan oppia puhumaan suomea! Kiitos!

  • omg im finnish and this helps me learn finnish kiitos~!!

  • kiitos :D

  • kiitos!

    Im from brazil!

  • Where are you from?

  • vähän oudon kuulonen toi joka lausuu noi jutut. varmaa joku ulkomaalainen? mut asiallinen poiketen edellisist mitä oon kattonu. :D

  • Oikestaan, jos suomalaine puhuu, nii sillon ei oo painotusta varmaa millään sanalla. Eikä kukaa oikeesti puhu NOIN.

  • Noooooo, you have switched off the embed code. I wanted to see your video on the plane so I could learn Finnish. Too bad :(

  • Nice video thanks = kiitos. :)

  • Thanks for this, im trying to learn Finnish, too. :)

  • You know... "mä", "sä" etc. are 'slang' words in Finnish. The most Finns use them for their easiness. The correct linguistically language version would be: "Minä", "Sinä", jne. (jne - etc) (j)a (n)iin (e)delleen - (et c)etera)

  • is finnish spoken any were beside Finland?

  • @TheEcu27 yeah, estonia, sweden, minorities in Russia and places nearby.

  • Dude it's a tough language to learn for an American.

  • Hey, Anyone can help me translate this to english "mä en ees tiiä kuka sä oot?? "

  • @2828348

    "i don't even know who u are"

  • Comment removed

  • @2828348 It's something like "I don't even know who you are" :D

ja kuten näkyy, oon itekkin suomesta ^^

    asunu suomessa koko elämäni :D

  • niimpä

  • Hei,

does not it matter whether I say "Se on ihanaa olla suomalainen" or "On se vaan ihanaa olla suomalainen"? I thought there should be an object on the first place in finnish sentence...

  • @FieryHeart Not sure if anyone gave you an answer, but both are correct.. though the second one fits this situation slightly better, "on se ihanaa.." is kinda a saying, otherwise having the object on the first place is -well, usually- preferable (but definately not a must)

  • -.-

  • Great job! Keep on learning :)

  • suomi tasavalta

  • Finnish: Suomi on helppo kieli.

    English: Finnish is easy language.

    Finnish: Ainakin meille suomalaisille.

English: At least for us Finns.

  • @MetalHybrid if you are in finland and there is some nigger, go and say those words to him :) (don't do that, the police will arrest you)

  • it means "i love you"

  • @MrLokohack it means "i love you"

  • hahahha most important thing is knowing Puhutteko englantia (do you speak english) :D

  • Jos joku ulkomaalainen ei osaa paljoakaan suomea ja se menee ja kysyy suomalaiselta "puhutteko englantia" niin se voi esittää asiansa paremmin, käyttäkää vähän järkeänne. -.-

where are you going? = minne sinä olet menossa? / minne sinä menet?

how are you?= miten sinä voit? / mitä kuuluu?

    pretty=nätti

  • Haluutsä turpaan? = Mitä jätkä?

  • what i dont understand is the where is the toilet one WC are you suppose to say it like waysay? i listened to it so many times and cant understand it.

    minun nimeni on laakeri norsunluinen

my name is lauren ivory :D

  • i think it's like 'vaysay' but don't quote me because i am only english after all haha

  • @kiiittykaaat or you can say it "vessa"

  • You have to say it like 'Veesee' thats the finnish way to say it, but some people use words like 'vessa' and 'Paskahuussi'

  • in finnish it's spelled veesee but you can just say paska huussi

  • if you say paska huussi peoples may think that you are an idiot (if you say that aloud in public) .... it's bad variation...

  • @livor3 you do pronounce it "vay say" like in french because that's how you say "v" and "c" in both languages, and it's "vc" instead of "wc" because people are lazy and it' takes too long to say "w" in either language :)

  • @withjustatouch WC is pronounced more like 'veh-seh' in my opinion. :)

  • @livor3 wtf ''waysay'', im finnish and its spelled ''weesee''

  • @joeyjunior111 Niin jos lukija on suomenkielinen. Englanninkielinen kuitenkin lukee "weesee" samalla tavalla kuin "we see", eli ei lähellekään kuin WC suomeksi sanotaan. "Veh-seh" on lähempänä oikeaa minun mielestäni.

  • @bluesinkku In English no one says Weesee like in We see...

We say "Double u, Ce" the names of the letters.

Or, to avid problems say Water closet!

  • i am from finland and i think its easy. and english

    is too

  • Actually speaking finnish is really easy, well.. nvm, xD

its almost hardest language. i think

  • now can you do the same thing in english

because im from finland I understand every word
