  • when did the rumours about paul being dead come along?

this to me is about a car crash and paul dying!!!! why would they have this sing with lyrics about that?

I don't get it, this song is spooky as well...

  • @doitanywayz and sometimes hearing his voice before 66 and 67, his voice sounds a lot deeper? is that advances in technoloy, different audio equipment being made or is paul really dead and they used a double?!?!

ahhhh i dont wanna believe it surely it cant be possible but why make a song about paul being dead??!!

  • 2:52 to 3:22 from Gods lips to your ears. Best #### ever.

  • Thanks for your reply, Vpmatt. I got that info from a late 1967 article of "Cheatah", a short-lived underground publication. I've a great memory when it comes to music, no matter how far back, but for the life of me, I can't remember what happened this morning!

  • John insisted that the orchestra wear the party garb. I remember that. It's exactly what Brian Wilson did when he recorded the landmark "fire" music for "Smile"! He had the musicians wear plastic fire hats. You've done a fantastic job with these videos--a lot of insight here I've never seen before. Incidently, does anyone remember what they said on the inner groove? I do.

  • @tas6010 I love any link between Lennon / The Beatles and Brian Wilson so thanks for your comment. "Smile" is also a work of art and thank God we finally saw it. It was a circle of creative rivalries that produced some of the greatest popular music of all time - Lennon vs McCartney vs Wilson vs The Beatles vs The Beach Boys and back again.

  • And now I finally understood that Yellow Submarine joke...

    *in the sea of holes*

John: This reminds me of Blackburn, Lancashire.

    Paul: Oh, boy...

  • "I'd love to turn you on" got it banned. WOW. music has changed drastically.

  • The single page with Lennon's hand-written lyrics for this song recently sold at auction for well over $1 million USD. Go figure.

  • i think you are right, "how i won the war" is the film he is referring to. The line "i just had to look, having read the book" kind of confirms it because the film was based on a novel.

Nice video, i would have never caught that!

  • I wrote my Ph.D. dissertation on how U.S. TV News covered JL's death. CBS used this track as an "audio clothesline" on which reporters hung images that worked w/the audio to report, & comment on, int'l reaction to the murder. The study argues that when the receiver is presented with such audio-visual blends, the meanings made can diverge markedly from those that influenced the composer or his "intention." Even so, this vid is a valuable "add" to our culture's lasting interest in this track.

  • actually this song was written as part of the great hoax about john lennon's death. as there where also very many clues on the sgt. pepper album

  • @idance4life17 it wasn't actually, but i think you are referring to the hoax about paul mccartney's death?

  • @AmonCOCO yes that... sorry for the mistake. and i just took a course in british innavasion, it is

  • The fact that all this was done on a four track tape recorder is mind blowing

  • I dedicate this song to my imaginary MF

  • I can't believe that not only do you find all these amazing facts...but also the photos and clips to go with them.

I heard my first Beatles song when I was in class 5 (Across the Universe). I am 38 now....I end every day by listening to them.

  • Best Beatles song ever, best song ever, the verses he's dreaming, the bridge he wakes up (at the sound of the alarm clock) then he dreams again... surreal music at it's best

  • the beatles are the best band of all time

  • @shatteredlamp12 MOST DEFINATELY!!!!!! i have every album (except yellow submarine, sadly) on my iPod, plus "1" and "Love" (2 "best of" albums)...and i never tire of hearing this song. it's so emotional and amazing...although if any of you have the actual album Sgt Pepper's, listen to the last 30 seconds which i only did once, because it scares me :) (they don't do it on this recording)...and @10shutt, i agree with you too. the beatles are HANDS DOWN the best band to ever have lived....

  • imagine these musicians had the equipments we have now??!!! artists nowadays are lazy, they do one album and get on t.v and radio and complain that it took a lot out of them to make.

  • lol on my ipod in the song it says "Oh shit"

  • Great fun to learn all this.....thanks!

  • @QuikVidGuy That parts called The Inner Groove a reverse speech song of the beatles saying "we"ll f**k you like we're superman" on the original British vinyls its listed after A Day In The Life, The Beatles were never informed of the addition

  • What about that high-pitched tone, and the repeating "Never to see any other wa-- Never to see any other wa--"?

  • Theres a good case to be made IMO that is the first song of our 'modern media era' : all the media preoccupations we are so familiar with today in popular culture are there . Obsessions with fame, reality culture, drugs, death & war, making up a very real part of our day to day routines.. all condensed into a beautifully timed five minute piece, that has become a legend in its own right .

  • How about the random noises after the song?

  • never could be any other way

  • hey vpmatt- youre a champ.

  • AMAZING info Vpmatt...this my favorite track from them. I'm a 47, black brother who's heavily into Classic Soul/R&B, Funk, Disco, and Classic Hip-hop, and yes, I am a fan of their music. I'm also a mobile DJ, and also have done some radio work, and I love behind-the-scenes stuff like this. Can't wait to check out the others in the series, thanks for posting!

  • @DJBiggieSpins Thanks for your comment mate. Enjoy the rest of the series!

  • @DJBiggieSpins I agree bro...possibly the Mozart and Beethovens of our time no doubt

  • do some people think tara browne was paul mccartney cause people who think paul is dead connect to a 1966 car accident that i guess paul was in?? i dont think paul is dead but it makes sense cause that picture of tara could resemble paul

  • I like this song especially that part wear it sounds like a tape being fast-forwarded. Amazing music I must say im only 26..........

  • The 3 people that disliked this video like red colour. That's the only explanation.

  • I am amazed of your info in this beloved song. However, I think you forgot to mention the shhhh sound at the end of the song when accidentaly someone drop a piece of the sound system.... Anyway it seems is not here!

    Good job!

  • Great job. As a Beatle lover these are priceless!

  • Nice Vid, but you didn't talk about the dog whistle at the end or the restraunt gabber at the fade out. If you record it into sound forge, it says "...never could be any other way". As well as other stuff layered over the top.

  • can anyone tell why I cant hear the squeaking of rngo`s shoe or the shuffling of the papers?? or the ac??

  • @1lundun I'll tell you. Because this recording comes off a CD which for starters is lower fidelity, then compressed into a WMV file which is then further compressed by YouTube when the video is uploaded and processed. Go and buy a vinyl copy of the record, play it on a record player, turn the volume right up and stick your ear next to the speaker.

  • @Vpmatt thank for sharing. i learned something today.

  • @Vpmatt lolumad?

  • a 4 track recording , says it all..

  • You should have explained the "Never could be any other way" part of A Day In The Life, a lot of theorists would be pleased :3

  • Very informative. Very nice video, thanks!

  • no it was based on puals death part of the hoks

  • ok, the part where it reminds me of an insane asylum, seriously scared the shit out of me. Like, i was actually frightened that something was going to attack me. That is a great song...

  • This is such a great job..

    song and video.

  • Absolutely brilliant! I was a child when I liked this album ! Now I see the attraction'

  • thanks so much for uploading these awessome videos! :)

  • Both John and Paul were great, and it was the chemistry of their combined abilities that made the Beatles what they were. No point in saying one was better or worse.

  • please make more videos like these !!!!!

  • do here comes the sun!

  • Really nice video, just 1 question...why did you not use the Sgt. Pepper version?

  • I think the Love CD was closer.... and I liked the way you can hear Mal Evans a bit better...

  • @Vpmatt lol same here~

  • I think that the beatles is the best music I've ever heard in my life

  • THE GREATEST SONG IN ALL OF HISTORY.

  • Awesome

  • Excellent video and lots of cool information.

  • I hope you will soon do I am the Walrus

  • Thank You Beatles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Vpmatt--SPECTACULAR videos!

The Beatles are a part of my DNA, so you must know that what you're doing is important to a lot of people.

I was listening to them last night and already today...Then I ran across your collection.

    Amazing info!

    Thanks, Vpmatt!

  • Wow thanks very much. I appreciate that. There will be more.

  • Definitely the best Beatles song, and my favorite written by Lennon..all of your videos on the Beatles songs are great so far, please do I Am The Walrus..thats my 3rd fav. song behind this and Strawberry Fields Forever

  • I hope you eventually do "I Am The Walrus," which you said you might do on one of the 5 that you've already done. That and A Day in the Life are my two favorite Beatles songs. Love all five that you've done btw, as well as the "In My Life" John Lennon Tribute.

  • Which you said you might do on a comment for one of the five that you've already done*

  • Thanks for the feedback. Yep stay tuned for "I am the Walrus".

  • Cranberry sauce is a current event ??? I'll remember that next time I'm eating it with my Thanksgiving dinner.

  • Guys named Tara, Kim, Courtney? This ole world just gets more mixed up by the decade!

  • Absolutely Amazing song. Lennon was on a different level to anyone else. Best composer of all time, impossible to top him.

  • Amaziingg! thank you for this! and i agree; this is THE BEST SONG EVER!

  • These "inside" videos are great. Keep them coming if possible. There would've been no end to Lennons creativeness. He was one of a kind>

  • bits and pieces of this song is on''revolution no.9''

  • this song is not one of the best songs ever............ITS THE BEST SONG EVER

  • they didnt explained tha very end :/ ... the weird repetitive acid trippy sound xD

  • Kind of understates McCartney's role. Lennon had a nice tune and vocal but it wasn't going to be much, until McCartney provided overall structure, including not only "his" middle section but the orchestral idea was primarily McCartney's as well.

  • I disagree completely. The "nice tune and vocal" is brilliant and is the heart and soul of the song. Not the middle eight or the orchestral climax.

  • Very nice primer for those out there who may not know their Beatle history.

    Excellent job and kudos.

  • damn, the alarm clock was accidental? thats an awesome coincidence

  • make one for penny lane!!!

    this was great!!!

  • Fabulous, just fabulous!

Thank you for all the insight into what took to record this song.

  • John Lennon was a genius, and Paul McCartney still is.

  • this is a great clip about the indisputably greatest rock and roll band EVER

  • Best. Band. Ever.

  • I give you an A for content but a an F+ for punctuation

  • 3:58 I could not stop laughing. This is a fantastic addition to YouTube, thank you so much for posting this gem!

  • this is awesome! Thanks!!!

  • heart for you love !

  • Wonderful !!!!! Thank you for the info Wonderful !!!!!

  • the "aaaaahhhhh" part is just perfect.

  • I think its hilarious how people like the person below feel they have to comment on a band they obviously dont like just to try and get a cheap rise out of people. Its pretty pathetic.

    Kriss.

  • naw naw naw, "the shit" is a good thing, "shit" is bad.

  • The Beatles were the SHIT !

  • they shoudve played what 1:53 if your iterested

  • Did you ever come across anything that might corroborate a thing Phil Collins said regarding the drum riffs that alternate with the vocals on the verses?

He had never heard anything like it anywhere. He interpreted it as being a "conversation" between singer and drummer. The riffs, each one distinctly different, giving a sense that the drummer is responding emotionally to each lyric line.

Thanks for taking the time it must have taken to put this together.

  • nice video

  • yeah agreed great my brain is slowing down its 1:11 am

  • Dude please get your facts straight before posting the..especially to this song. This song is well documented....Maybe you should look it up sometime yourself...I realize you are trying but get some more info...

  • You are a wonderful person!

  • I swear I hear a bit of minimoog in the final chord. I think it was available at that time, at least the Beatles could have gotten one if it was anywhere near completion.

  • brilliant could you do any more 'inside a beatles records' ?? That endless chord = genius

  • Actually, it was the opposite. They couldn't find a ryhm for for "Small" until paul suggested "Albert Hall"

  • one of the best songs ever written in the history of music

  • @marcodicapriotv indeed timeless

  • Is the Love-version playing?

  • Yes.

  • Actually, I'm pretty sure the car accident thing was about Paul... Thus, creating the whole "Paul is Dead" scheme...

  • No, it was about Tara Browne the Guinness heir. He was a friend of the Beatles.

  • fascinating! i have been a beatles fan since i was 10 (1974) and would listen to my albums constantly and knew every song by heart.i love seeing the back story on these songs

  • it kinda sounds what i would relate to dying/.. or floatin away as a spirit, or maybe the gates of heaven opening///closing. ne one digg?

  • thanks for this- that "endless chord" is intense.

  • Greatest song ever written

  • The panels go by too fast. I can't read them, so I have to keep pausing the video, which is really annoying.

  • A great look into an amazing song! Thanks for putting this together.

  • SURE!!! The alarm clock at the beginning of the second verse was a mistake...! I call BS.

    So much transparent trivia.

  • Who said it was a mistake??

  • "Big Mal also let off an alarm clock...which Emerick could also not get rid of..."

"happy coincidence, as it fitted perfectly with the first line..."

B.S. The alarm clock was obviously recorded specifically to be placed where it was in the mix. It's brilliant. Why do people need to make shit up?

  • I can't see the word "mistake" there.... a "coincidence" is something different. The clock was put there on purpose. It wasn't a mistake. Noone said it was. McCartney's middle section hadn't been decided on when the clock was recorded. Why would Geoff Emerick make it up? He was there and he recorded the song!

  • The 24-bar bridge section ended with the sound of an alarm clock triggered by Evans. The original intent was to edit out the ringing alarm clock when the missing section was filled in; however it complemented McCartney's piece well; the first line of McCartney's song began "Woke up, fell out of bed", so the decision was made to keep the sound. Martin later said that editing it out would have been unfeasible in any case.

  • More More!!!

  • great job, very much enjoying this series

  • More please!!!

  • This and the first are absolutely superb. I can't wait for more.

  • Thanks! It'll take a little while but stay tuned.
