  • Ok, so I did 12 instead of 6 and I then continued to do the same thing as you, but now I have a diameter of 20!!! So i have started to make the body part, but is it going to be too big for a newborn? Should I start again?

  • Thank you so much for sharing! I've made two cocoons so far and I'm working on my third..

  • So I should be able to use this pattern to make a slouchy beanie? Of course modified a tiny bit to fit..

  • @BaileyNicolee97 Yeah sure ! I would maybe not increase it as much :)

  • Do you have a written pattern?

  • @agarkeema Hi, I do not have a pttern for this one BUT it is very simular to the Crochet a Basic Crown for a Beanie / hat Tutorial. there is a written pattern for that one ... you just make the cocoon as long as you need it

  • @bobwilson123 ok thank you

  • I am trying you instructions, but the first part is really loose. What am I doing wrong? I am ready to start round 3.

  • @vtoriree If you think it is really loose then maybe use a smaller hook ?

  • @bobwilson123 yes, that helped! Thanks!

  • @vtoriree Excellent !!

  • @bobwilson123 I am doing ok I think; however, it seems like I am just making a large flat doily. I am working on the part with no increasing. Does it make a tube as I go further? Or do I need to do some decreasing. I started with the 12 stitches. This is my very first crochet project so forgive my ignorance.

  • @vtoriree Its ok to ask as many Qestions that you like )

Its starets to go tube likt after about 4 - 5 rows of the no increasing...at first it does look a little funny :) But it will have to turn into a tube eventually becasue that is what you are making when to do no increase or decrease :) Good luck, Im here if you need more help

  • @bobwilson123 -ok many thanks!!! I am hoping I can get it finished soon!!!

  • i'm so dissapointed i could cry, i've tried several times to make this but i couldn't get it to look right, finally i saw what i was doing wrong. it has the v look like your's , i stopped at 10 and i did the 1 1 2 in the beginning and the other, for the next set i'm doing the double crochet's for the length but it looks like a bowl. i started with 12 i didn't want the point. and now i see you counted the chain up as one. is there anything i can do

  • hmm i know i have alot of mistakes in mine but it seems if i go on with the doubles for length it just gets larger i went to your site and saw the hat you fixed i still have length to add, can i alternate sc and dc or just all sc, of course this is just a practice, and i'm using baby yarn

  • @myna102 are you up to the part where you dont do increasing? The fist few rows wont look right until you add lengh to it

  • can i post a picture

  • @myna102 yes :)

  • ok you know when you start with 4 and put 5 in the center i want to do 11 or 12 how many do i put in the center hole the same 5 or more thank you

  • ok but she does 4 to start i thing then dc around inside the opening, i want to do 12 so it's not so pointed, so how any dc in the opening would i put in thank you

  • @myna102 If you want to start with 12 DC in the middle then do 12 :) and then continue with the pattern

  • ok i see what i did wrong, if i use the 12 how many do in go into the hole with i'll leave this on incase someone responds before i go to work tonight. but i do have a nice doily da

  • oh for pete's sakes i've been doing this pattern and i'm at 5 and 2 and realized i'm making a doiley. what am i'm doing wrong, i started with 11 does that change anything. helpppppppp

  • @myna102 Hi, Do you mean you are up to the row that has 5 stitches then a increase? and do you mean that it is laying flat? It will become a beanie shat when you do the rows of no increasing :)

  • @bobwilson123 it's lying flat, i didn't go in the hole to start or double crochet in the second row, but yea i'm up to five and increase no there is no cone shape lol, do i do the a different amount to put in the hole when i start if using the 12 stitches to start thanks for the quick response i'll be up at 11 to check again thanks swo much

  • @myna102 Im not quiet sure what you mean. are you able to make a video responce?

  • I love the video! I have a question...a photography friend of mine is photographing twin boys and is wanting me to make her the cocoon for it! The only problem is the theme is 2 Peas in a Pod! So she is wanting one big enough for two babies! Do you have any recommendations on this for me?

  • @mhulsey1 Hi, ooo this is a tricky one .....So does she want it to look like this only wider at the bottom to fit the babies side by side? I will think about how to tackle this one whilst i wait for your reply :) Thanks for your question :)

  • @bobwilson123 Hello, sorry it took me so long to get back with you! It has been a crazy week! Yes she is wanting it like this just wider so that the two babies will fit inside together! I will be waiting for your reply...I am very excited about this one!

  • @mhulsey1 To tell you the truth i am really stumped on this :) I am thinking if you do 24 stitches for row 1 instead of 12 that will make it alot wider...because you will have twice as much stitches to start with and then continue with row 2 .. you will have alot more stitches but the increase should be the same...this is the pnly suggestion i have sorry.... after a few rows amybe 10 you should be able to see how wide it is going to be... just incease until you get the width you want..good luck

  • @bobwilson123 Thank you so much for the help! That does seem like it would help! Because one baby would fit in the size of yours, so I just double to number of stitches to begin with two should fit! Thanks, I wish I would have thought of that sooner! LOL! I will definitely let you know how it turns out and send you a pic with the finished product and one of the shoot with the lil guys!! This is going to be soooo adorable!

  • @mhulsey1 Yay cant wait to see a pic. When you first start it it may begin to ruggle up becasue there are twice as many stitches...but i think it may even up one you stop increasing and you need it wide to fit the babies :)

  • @mhulsey1 please let me know how you go and i would love to see it if you are succesful :)

  • At 2:32 (stitch 5 in the initial loop) there is a Half Double Crochet instead of a full Double Crochet. If this is being followed religiously thru the video, just make sure the 5th stitch keeps with the pattern! Just an FYI, not a complaint. These videos are wonderful! Thank you for all of them. Great video and great instruction. :)

  • @MsGin1969 OMG really ? Ill go have a look and put a note there to let people know ...sorry !!

  • @MsGin1969 Thanks for letting me know :)

  • @bobwilson123 You are welcome. :) Thank You. :)

  • How many yarn rolls does this take to complete?

  • @laurarsh Depending on the yarn that you use, I used 3 balls for this but they werent very big :)

  • @chinadoll401 Hi Chinadoll, a baby cocoon is used for photography for babies and also it is like a sleeping bag :O) Hope this helps
