That is some dedication! Cold temps for sure. I'm purchasing MacKirk and would like to see some more videos. How is the sluice working for you? Any issue when not classifying down?
@hoshnasi Hey there! Unfortunately it's winter time here, so I haven't used it since a week or two after this video was shot. As far as classifying goes, no I didn't have any issues, especially if you're into the larger gold. That being said, I did speak with Angus himself for quite awhile before buying, and he did say that any sluice ever made will ALWAYS perform best when preclassified to similar sized material only. It does make logical sense, but I haven't used it enough yet. :)
@halflife82 Appreciate the reply. I spoke with Angus yesterday to purchase an "Explorer" sluice. He gave me some tips and from the sound of it a really cool dude. He said there are instructions and if you follow the leveling guide and directions on feeding it, it should be a snap.
How often or buckets through do you gave to do a clean-up?
@hoshnasi Yep, he includes a quick guide for setup. If you're classifying then you don't have to clean out too often. I usually would every couple hours, more out of interest's sake. If you don't classify, I'd clean out more often as the larger rocks will cause strong eddies risking the emptying of the riffles.
@SolarSurfLeo Hey ElkGold! I've actually been so busy this week I haven't had a chance to pan down the cons yet. As soon as I do I'll post my findings. I don't expect anywhere near the gold count we get from the NSR, but you're right. Any gold helps keep the fever at bay! :) I'm still working on my finishing sluice to process all my cons from the long weekend trip on the NSR as well. Cheers!
