Wow, a mechanical time of use meter- that's really cool! I assume it uses frequency of the line as it's time base, but how is it initially set? (and after a power failure)
@realvanman1 The time clocks have a 24 hour spring reserve in case of a power cut. or the tariff signal gets sent through the lines via a ripple transmitter and receiver by the meter.
Nice meter, and nice time switch :-) I have also few time switchs, maybe I'll make video with them :-) Does you have any electricity meter, or time switch from Poland ? Pafal, or Metron ?
@RODALCO2007, PAFAL produced electricity meters, Metron time switchs :-)
Your Landis & Gyr timeswitch is very nice, it is very sad that now Landis & Gyr produce only electronic electricity meters, these meters does not even look like electricity meter, more likely like a calculator without keyboard :D
We have brief power outages during heavy thunderstorms when the overhead lines clash. There is a lot of Sanagmo equipment about in NZ, Good quality and very reliable.

What's the deal about tariff time switches and what does it have to do about electric meters and measuring electric usage?
HoneycombAgent 9 months ago
@HoneycombAgent In NZ there is a cheaper tariff overnight between the hours of 2300 and 0700 hrs.

@elektro666tech No, I have heard of PAFAL, you see them sometimes on ebay ( postage is very expensive)
Metron, never heard off.
I have one Russian meter with Cyrillic nameplate.
Your English is very good

Here in the UK it is switched by a radio signal.Nice video

Thanks for your comment. This meter is controlled by a Landis&Gyr timeswitch.
We have these meters also controlled via the ripple system in the city network.

@G4MOF what happend if you tinfoil it, or in anyway block the signal?
hitachi088 8 months ago
@hitachi088 It would probably stop the change over it's sent on the Long Wave frequency..
