The war in Iraq is nothing to do with safeguarding our way of life in America. Those soldiers are dying for nothing. They're interfering in the politics of another country, in a civil war. They're not wanted there, just like in Somalia, Vietnam, Korea, etc.... When will they learn?
I have thought about this war many times, and its not just in Iraq, its in Afghanistan too, but its not for me to decide what it is we must do. I dont understand most of it. MY SON is in the army and I do not wish to see my son deployed in July, but this is his career, neither of us have a choice in this matter. Please forgive me. I don't understand the relationship between death, distruction, war and Christianity. Christ was a pacifist, a healer and a very gentle person.
I have no problem with either Christians nor the military, I simply find putting the two together puzzling.
Have modern day Christian leaders in the US distorted the Bible so much to their followers that they have people believeing that death, war and destruction is somehow Chirstian?

@dac8555 No. They have not. Put simply there is a indisputable need for the military. And christians as well as otheras have answered the call. We do not fight for the sake of fighting, as many who are not in the military would believe but atleast in this case for the prevention of evil. Allowing those with the power to destroy the opportunity is just as wrong as doing it.

War is an ugly business. Death and destruction ensue. But so to does the good prosper out of the darkness. removing evil allows for the good to flourish. If you witness a crime and do nothing you are just as responsible for it. This war is serving to remove those who would do evil, who have done evil and will continue if not put in check. Allowing its victims a chance to prosper. No amount of political banter will influence me. I am a christian military man. God bless.

He also commands that we obey the local governments. If the government goes to war, and you happen to be in the military, under oath to obey, then, regardless of weather not the war is for a good cause, or not, your still under oath, are you not? God calls us to keep the oaths we make.

I do believe and fight for your right to free speech. I am in the military. I am also a Christian. Although I can not stop you making some ludacris statement I will not remain silent in your comparison of God and the Third Reich. I have heard enough of the baby-killing military. Take some initiative and look into the subject matter before ranting off on some illagitimate tangent. The military is trained to save lives. Take only when necessary and no more than to accomplish the mission.

I have thought about this war many times, and its not just in Iraq, its in Afghanistan too, but its not for me to decide what it is we must do. I dont understand most of it. MY SON is in the army and I do not wish to see my son deployed in July, but this is his career, neither of us have a choice in this matter. I can only hope and pray that the right thing is done by America. I dont have the time, energy or resources to come up with a 'better idea', I can only hope and pray it ends soon.

Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are now fighting and dying for the democracy that the coalition has helped them build. millions risk injury, abuse, torture and death in order to vote and have their voices heard.
After years of suffering and many mistakes they finaly in a position to hold onto the precious liberty that we have helped bring.

What you're saying might sound well but the truth is that prostitution is a source of a lot of bad things. I think we can agree on that. I don't agree with those laws however that made sodomy illegal. On the other hand it's also true that gays in general change their partners more frequently and it definitaly contributes to the spreading of stds... So I don't think that gays in general should be supported.

I think you're mixing up street walkers for regulated prostitution. Regulated prostitution doesn't allow human trafficking, enslaved women, and so on. Ironically, America does have a problem with these things since prostitution was driven underground by criminalization.

It's true, in theory. But in practice it does very much. Read more about prostitution in the Netherlands. It's one of the few countries where brothels are legal and "The Netherlands is a primary country of destination for victims of human trafficking".

What is illogical is coming to the conclusion that a few abuses in the system make the profession itself bad. the United States was not founded on religon, rather by economic freedom. dont believe me look up the virginia company of london.

This is just wrong. People forget how/why this country formed. People were escaping this very thing when they came here and started a freedom of religion country and gov't. I certainly don't understand his plan, but I do pray for everyone, including the people in Iraq. My heart aches for people anywhere, don't matter, race, religion, sex etc. Jesus said love everyone, even those that hate you. Only he knows the plan. He's coming back.

The bible is similar to the constitution. It doesn't outline every situation that will ever occur, it's a guideline. Sometimes a few must be slain to Save the majority.
