  • i hooked up a psu 218watt max 12v/14A to a 800w xplod amp (the same 1 u have but mine is 800w) and two 10'' subs the amp turned on but ididnt get no sound.

  • i got the same amp but mine is 800w and it turns on but i dont get no sound can u help plz?

  • @lopezchato88 That means you don't have the same amp...How didd you hook it up? What did you hook it up to?

  • Obey dats whats up

  • Why are you whispering

  • @computerdude556 shit I thought I said it was around 3 in the morning lol

  • or if u have one of thoes house stereo with the subwoofer out that works

  • Wow is all I gotta say im 31 and can't put a raido together :/

  • Talking quietly so you don't wake your mommy? Good job on understanding wires and what they mean....

  • im 10 and i put in a amp speakers raideo inside on a car raideo

  • @chickmagnet643 That's nice to know. I also know you're a chick magnet and that you should continue to go to school so can learn how to spell 'radio'.

  • @calvinblinkee And I know that you are a retard that should stop trying to insult 10 year olds to make yourself sound better. Just because he doesn't know how to spell a certain word doesn't mean he's stupid. By the way, what the fuck does him being a "chick magnet" relate to anything about radios? LOL. You sir, are retarded.

  • @chickmagnet643 Beast

  • @EllisEndye Well if you're putting a car amplifier and headunit into a car, then hook it up to the battery.

  • watch?v=vAkLSt3rsRY

  • Who said 13 year olds can't teach us anything?!

  • @bobalazs Adults

  • @calvinblinkee I'm an adult myself.

  • can someone please tell me why every time i turn the psu on the amp blows the fuse in the socket? but psu doenst blow just fuse?

  • What if I have laptop I'm hooking it up to, and when I play music. Both music and very little bass comes out through the subwoofers. Is there a way I can install a Hi-Lo convertor or some sort of workaround?

  • would connecting a 300w power supply to a 300w amp work properly and be safe? please reply, really stuck :P

  • @BonoBonoFon This question has been asked so many times. Just read around the comments. It should be fine but you'll probably not get the most out of the amplifier..

  • Hi me , I have a Psu 250 Watt And connect to my amp 800 watt Its ok Just i turn the volume up My Psu Stop working and i reconnect My Psu To Amp Its Again Just for the minimal volume its run , and i want to buy 800 Watt Psu Its good for the amp ?? Pls help mee fast!

  • Can i just rip one of these out from an old computer?

  • @SuperMrDwayne Yes but it might not have enough power if it's old

  • @calvinblinkee Well, thanks anyway.

  • @haakon09 That's another way that works. But I suggest you using more than just 1 ground from each psu to the amplifier. They heat up really quick if your amp draws a lot of power.

  • if i have two 500watt power supply's and i needed to power a 1000watt amp can i wire the yellow wires from both power supply's together and the black wires from both the supply's to get 1000 watt? or will that not work?

  • @subsonicFi15s Don't use the wattage ratings to see if it will power it. Look at the Amps rating on the 12 volt on the power supplies and look at the fuse rating on the amplifier. What does it say? Should be around 100 or 120A if it's a unregulated power supply amp. I have never used two psu's together so I'm now too sure on how to hook it up. You have to series wire the 12v and ground and you have to cut off the ground wire in the psu.. AnythingLoud on YouTube has done this so ask him for help!

  • @calvinblinkee ok thanks man

  • why did you do this in 4 am and not at 4 pm

  • @jk1567 Why did you not use any punctuation in your question?

  • u got the wires wrong ur have to use all the yellow and black wires and put em together to get more amps.....

  • @thesten99 Read my description ==" holy angelina jolie

  • you should get a new stereo to go with those subs...and i mean the one on your dresser that you turned around to show the spliter....that thing is dookie lol nice sub hook up tho just did one my self

  • @username1229 I'm using the Logitech Z-5500 computer speakers to go with the subs..

  • my pc wont let me do sub out and work do u know why >!

  • @jayholley123 You probably have to enable on your computer.

  • can i use a battery recharging while using it ?

  • WOULD IT BE BETTER IF USE THE FUSE GAGE WIRE WITH THAT FOR MORE AMPS

  • @mle2763 NO THAT WOULD NOT ADD THE AMPS UP IT IS ONLY TO PRODUCT THE WIRE FROM MELTING

  • my amp 40A

  • i only got one yellow wire and many black's and one green what do i do with the green wire?

  • HOLY SHIT U HAVE A MAD ASS SPEAKER SYSTEM !

  • he is whispering, hahahaha, when he is hooking something really loud up, hahahaha

  • 13 year olds these days.....

  • but if you want to know a much easier way to do this instead of having to buy power supplies to run it is just get a car battery charger up to it. thats what i did and mine runs great.

  • @PsiloCybinDreamX You'd need a pricey battery charger to power up a high power amplifier though. Most of them only give out like 15A+/- continuously.

  • rails dont combine power

  • unfortunately the rails dont work like this i have a newton power 1000watt power supply in my alienware and it has 5 12v rails with 18 amps on each rail my power supply doesnt push out 90 amps of power its max load is 18 amps on each rail.they are seperate from one another. dont get that confused or you could really damage hardware like a video card thinking your pushing enough amps to it

  • @PsiloCybinDreamX Don't worry, my psu has 60A in one rail. LOl

  • @calvinblinkee the most i see is 30 amps on you 5 volt rail and 18 for the 12volt.just be careful you dont burn your house down or something.thats really not the best idea

  • @PsiloCybinDreamX I HAZ DE CORSHAIR TX750

  • @calvinblinkee single 12v+ rail is the way to go :)

  • This video was real helpful, thanks for putting it out their dude.

  • 1 rail does 18.0A, where did you get the other 20.0A to make 32.0A?

  • @atomdragon4 Where did you get the other 14.0A*

  • @atomdragon4 I said there were two rails so that would make 36A. But when you combine rails, they usually don't just add up. So I just said 32 lol

  • How many yellows and how many blacks do i use?

  • @atomdragon4 All of them if you can...just use most of them

  • Hmm, im trying to run a 600w amp off a 270w PSU, kept cutting out, combined it with a 230w and they both cut out as soon as the amp powers on, is this because its drawing too much power and the PSUs cant handle it? Because i've seen people run large amps from small psus before...

  • @LethalJizzle Your amplifier will draw a lot of power during startup like a car engine starting up. That has happened to me before when I had a 300 watt psu with a 28A 12v rating. What I did though was turn the psu on and turn it off RIGHT away. That will get the caps charged a bit. After 2 seconds or so, turn it back on and the amplifier should work. Good luck!

  • @calvinblinkee You absolute god, now bumping my tunes on it. Cheers man.

  • @LethalJizzle Congrats man! Enjoy the bass

  • How many volts are you using multimeter

  • i have a 920 watt kenwood amp and im getting a 600 watt psu ,so out of the 920 watts how many am i getting with a 600 watt psu

  • @CHRISLOGAN2010 Oh I didn't know you were the one asking me for help lol. Anyways, wire up your headunit to the power supply, and wire the headunit to the speakers. And why should I help you in the first place? You ain't paying me. But there you go.

  • hi calvin

i was wondering if i hook up a car battery chrager with 7.5 amps and hook up a car amp with 30amps should it work? then i would have a 10"400watt sub and yea i will do it tommorrow i tried it with a 1000watt 20 amp amplifier and it worked well by the way nice vid helped a lot 5*

  • @basskid4ever It will power it on, but you won't get the most out of your amplifier. You'll probably get around 80 watts... You could try it, but I would recommend you to get a AGM battery to wire to your car charger. Btw, I really doubt that 20A amplifier is going to produce 1000 watts LOl.

  • mine psu shuts down after 3 seconds whenever i powering up what up with that?

  • @Schwarzeneggerrr Check if any of the wires are shorting out. If they are fine, then it's probably because your amplifier draws too much power at startup and the capacitors in the psu have not charged up yet. This has happened to me before. One simple way to prevent it from shutting down is to flick the switch on and off very quickly. Once or twice will do. Then wait a couple of seconds and flick it on...

  • ok the Psu is an Sweex 650 watts 17 amps. now i have tried it on a Zalman 750 watts 20 amps. and it works yust fine ? is it because its a shity brandt or wat? cause i know that Zalman is one of the best brandt of all ?

  • @Schwarzeneggerrr I'm guessing there's more than one 12v+ rail? Or else it shouldn't be so low for a 650 and 750 watt amplifier. Even my junk 350 watt psu I had gives out more power lol.

  • I have a magnat traxx 300. i dont know how much amps it needs exactly, but the sweex is such a shity thing it keeps shuting itself off no mather what i do like some kind a security shit. however the zalman has a 20 amp 12+ volts power and no problems with that except it sounds like the amp cant take it at high volume, so i need more amps psu ??

  • @Schwarzeneggerrr When you say high volume, do you mean you turn up the gain? Because it's not a volume controller. It's to match the output signal of your pre-out as in your headunit or whatever. You would be forcing the amplifier give more than it can which will cause clipping.

  • Yeah that can be true.. but whenever i wire this amp to my car it doesnt clip at all at highest gain volume..

  • @Schwarzeneggerrr Exactly, maybe the signal in your car is lower and/or your voltage in the car is higher.

  • Listen my friend it's allll about the amps, the bigger watts your amplifier is the higher amps you need. a car amplifier needs 30 amps at least to work stable. in this case its not the volts what causes the problem an car battery is 12,8 volts. an Psu is 12 volts no big difference. but if you hook up an amp Magnat Traxx 300 with an 200 watts rms to an psu that has 20 amp? thats to weak to work stable..

  • @VideoUploaderr Yepyep

  • tried this. psu doesnt even turn on :(

  • @L1LJO3Y1313 LOL FAIl

  • or how bout get a car put your set up in it, then get a house amplifier/ surround sound system but just a suggestion

  • @SteveFrench306 That has been suggested many times, but it doesn't work for a 13 year old. Anyways, my dad won't let me cut the subwoofer output wire in his $65,000 vehicle. =(

  • Hye great VID! man, just would like to know I have a 250 watt power supply which = 14.0A. My amp and subwoofer is 500 watts RMS, does that mean need a 500 watt power supply or the 12v will do? Please help

  • @MrKuGaa If it's a real 500 watt amplifier, I'm just going to guess it will have a 60A fuse. So you would need a power supply giving out 60A on the 12v or whatever fuse your amplifier takes lol.

  • what do i do if my subs are doing a constant "drone" when i turn the power supply on and there isnt any music going through the amp?

  • @carolina2137 You mean that humming noise? It might be because your RCAs are too close to your power wires or there is a loose connection somewhere.

  • @Blogdude87 Just to be on the safe side. Sometimes if your speaker terminals are near your power terminals, it isn't impossible to accidentally touch them or short it. You can definitely leave it on but make sure not signal is getting through or the amplifier's protect will just come on.

  • and tape the wires together if u want ir to be neater! check my vid out i have an alpine 400w on my logitech sub

  • guys ive also done this to. but remember always get a psu thats atleast 100watts more then the total rms on the amplifier. u want to open your psu cut down all unessesary wires, grab the yellow 12v rating wires.. also if u need more of them look for the 12v rating print on the actually psu board and u might be able to get a few more wires that u ddnt know where 12v. u will know because they will all be solderd in the same area. then just link up the 2 wires that start it inside the psu, close it

  • calvin i got a problem, my wires are overheating and start smoking after a few minutes, what can ido to stop this? can i wire more than one yellow into the +12v?

  • @YousufBayoumi Um yeah if you read the description which is right below the video, exactly what you need. lol

  • @calvinblinkee when i connect more than one yellow the amp goes to protect, this is really weird because on my old amp the psu ran for ages without the wires heating. This amp causes the wires to heat up even if it isn't running any speakers, 20 secs and smoke starts coming off them :(

  • @calvinblinkee nice vid, but u can get mor epower if u shortend the wires down but like u said about taking them back.

  • @L00peey The wires for the psu I have right now are only about 1.5 feet long which isn't bad. The voltage doesn't drop much since I have used most of the wires

  • @calvinblinkee yea but wires have resistance, if u had all the wires short u would probly get no volt drop

  • @L00peey I would because my amplifier takes 90A and the psu gives out 60A. Anyways, I'm only using it to power a 10" that takes 250 so it doesn't drop at all now lol

  • At 7:22 you said "If you only have a 2.1 sound card, then you can get a headphone..." Well, if it's a 2.1 channel sound card, then there should be one 3.5mm output for your L+R Mains, and one 3.5mm output for your subwoofer, or something like that... I know you made this video almost 2 years ago, but you know.

  • @americaneagle791 I knew I made that mistake. I kind of meant 2.0 soundcard because a 2.1 speaker system only requires the green 3.5mm connector. lol o well

  • Cheers mate, it kinda helped a lot.

  • 0:52 worst noise ever.

  • @AKIROCKS151 Haha I just noticed..

  • calvin, where are the rest of your vids you had loads of them

  • you commented on my vid ages ago n i just came 2 check ur uploads, u got a nice system mate! btw i have a 650w psu with 32amps across dual 12v rails, and 0.8 amps on the -12v.. would this be enough for a 1200w amplifier?

  • @YousufBayoumi No it won't be enough lol. What amplifier do you have?

  • @calvinblinkee Its an american legacy la890.. pretty shit i no lol its around 350rms though just right for my pioneer

  • @YousufBayoumi lol yeah then it should be alright..

  • @calvinblinkee dam i just burnt the fuse on my amp lol, 3am over here tho guess ill buy a 30amp fuse instead, thanks neway

  • @YousufBayoumi Lol cool. I never said anything about psu wattage with car amplifier wattage. What 1600 watt amplifier do you have?

  • @calvinblinkee its a soundstorm ev2.1600 pretty crap but does its job, im thinking of getting two 15 inch alpines in a double box, should it be ported or sealed?.. and do u have any idea how thick the mdf should be? its for my room :)

  • @YousufBayoumi Does its job to power speakers but it doesn't do the rated power. Type R's pound hard with ported boxes. At least 3/4" thick and should be braced. 1" would be great

  • thanks man this actually helped i'm gonna have a badass sound system but the sad thing is i drive a shity honda crx oh well

  • @rp94cobra I believe some people say that CRXs are good for bass. lol

  • @calvinblinkee they are cause there so small but since there so small theres hardly any room to move around

  • So I have a power supply with dual 12 volt rails. Is it okay to run them parallel? Would I need a diode for this? I know for two separate psu's you need a diode for each yellow wire.

  • You can just parallel them

  • Do you control how much bass this amp

  • All amps can be controlled by changing the gain

  • Ok thanks I have it hooked up, but when I turn the volume of my input all the way up my PSU or amp shuts off. I'm using a Real Power Pro 750 that I had lying around. My amp is a JL 500/1. Is this caused by not running enough ground and 12v wires?

  • Wires might be overheating if you don't have enough. Is your gain turned really high causing your amplifier to clip making it draw a lot of power from your psu? What does the psu give out (Amps) at 12v?

  • @calvinblinkee It;s 4x19 so I assume the amps are allwoedto add up, so I have 76. And i have the gain slightly higher than it was when turned off completely.

  • They don't actually add up. Don't remember where I got that information though. You're lucky though. That amplifier does 500 watts even at 11v. JL is dope!

  • If I only have one rail, do I take the yellow and a ground from that, or an SATA power connector?

  • "Forget about what I said on using rails and whatever. Use ALL of the 12v+(positive/yellow) wires and ground (negative/black) wires you can to sustain a stable voltage and to prevent from heating up the wires." Taken from the More Info section on the right.

  • if i sent you all my amp information do u think u could find a psu to use for my amp? thanks alot

  • Fuse rating

  • are you really 13,

  • @rotel1080man 15 now

  • cooledge, i'm 15 as well!!!! cheers dude

  • hey is it all the ground wires too?

  • yaea

  • whats with the whispiring.. Speek up! :P

  • 4 in the morning is the problem

  • ok, now which yellow and which black wires? there are like a million. which harnesses

  • Read description...

  • quick question. I have a PSU and an amp and subs and everything, and im pretty sure its all hooked up right, but my amp isn't turning on. any ideas what it could be?

  • Does your power supply turn on? Is your remote wire hooked up?

  • may be a dumb question but i don't give a shit so witch plug is for sub woofer on computers

  • Any on your soundcard that is a 3.5mm output...

  • god,, that's a very pretty amp you have there,, wow!!!!

  • yeah 900 watts rms for $149 is pretty.

  • calvin i have a pcu and it says 18 amps and does each yellow rail have 18amps or alltogether =) thanx

  • It's all together

  • on those 2X12v rails ur using, wats that third wire on it? like there is a clear wire, also your using 2X grounds instead of ur recommended 1X

  • Actually I'm going to recommend you to use as many positive and ground wires as you can to achieve a more solid connection. I am running a 60A power supply right now and with like 3 positive and negative wires, they heat up real bad. So I used every single wire and I have a much more solid voltage and no heat!

  • also can i just hook this up to my house stereo? i have no computer at my place.

  • well if your house studio has a subwoofer out or something like RCA outputs it'll work.

  • here are specs on my amp

    Kenwood KAC-624

    110wrms

    180wpeak

    i think 20 or 25 amp fuse

can i use a power supply with more amps than my fuse can handle or do i need to match it exactly. amd is a 350w p.s. too much for my amp. i am a big enthusiast but i have never had car equipment in home. i feel like a noob like i did a few years ago. your 13? wow i am 17. teens get alot of crap from the elders huh!

  • You can have a bigger psu for your amplifier or even less but less will give you less power obviously. I'm running 60A to my 90A amplifier. Yeah I learn this shit from the internet and I get this shit part of it from my own money.

  • i have a kac-821 :)

  • "Dont forget to unplug your power supply"." Mines pluged in because i dont give a shit" Hahaha.

  • do they need to be short if u put a farad cap on it

  • Be as short as possible unless you have can modify your psu with thicker wires.

  • hey i got a cheap woofer on my tv eny tips on how i kan make it louder

  • so u put the dual 12+ together? and 1 black wire for ground?

  • Put as much as you like...

  • haha thanks man

  • AND WOW!!! Someone knows what REAL power is.... I'm beside myself... I tried to tell people SOME sony ams are actually really good. You have one of them. CEA aint playin!!! Those are REAL WATTS!!!!

  • What's awesome about this one is that it's not made in China!! Thailand haha. Well your Alpine setup is real sick man.

  • Sweet! I never thought you could use a computer power supply to power an amp! Have you ever had problems with tripping the current limiter on the PSU itself?

  • The power supply I have right now (not the one in the video) gives out 60A. But my amplifier takes 90A so.. it does shut off when I force it, which leads to of course, clipping.

  • Well you also need a toggle switch and make sure the psus have surge protection built in. Click on his L7 videos and he should have a link on the description
