When you resize the image to a smaller res it is a good idea to select the option best for reduction in the resize window. Im not sure if you will see a difference at 16x16 but its good practise. Also thanks I never even thought of adding one of these.

quick tip: you cannot name the favicon.ico file as anything else (eg, fav.ico). It also didn't work for me when i put it in as "favicon.icon." I had to use .ico.

SOOO STREESED. trying to make a favicon and in the home php page when i put the head tags so i can put my link rel in the writing goes yellow to tell me somthings wrong but it doesnt tell me!!!!!! ahhhhh. been reuploading to my remote server and have my favicon in both directory and images folder of my local,remote and testing servers and nothing happens even though the coodes there and the ico file.. any help please?

I stand corrected, I've recently uploaded a website that I used Dreamweaver as part of the design protocol.... although, while i was testing the Site using Dreamweaver's in-house site testing option, this didn't display favicon's in all Browsers. However, after uploading to the host, and testing it with various Browsers, the favicon displays on every occasion... So food for thought, and a glimmer of hope :-)

Great Vid, I personally find that not all browsers will display my favicon. Firefox will, IE won't, nor google Chrome.?? Perhaps specific rules need to be coded to prompt HTML?? Who knows lol

Thanks for the video. I was able to get my favicon to appear. QUESTION: I was trying to change my favicon. I deleted my old favicon.ico file in my site folder, as well as the html code that made it appear. I created a new favicon in Photoshop, and no matter where I save the .ico file to, or how I insert it into my site's folder, it always shows up as the old favicon that I've deleted. Does anyone know what's up with that?

Thanks so much. I did want to note that when I went to check if it worked it didnt show up. However when I tested on another machine after uploading it was working. So my browser must have saved (as internet memory or cookies) the old image and wasnt showing it.

if you dont appreciate the fact that he is giving free tutorials then simply dont watch them. he IS giving valuable information to someone that doesnt know that the favicon needs to be saved at 16x16. or we need the special "favicon" software, etc.. stop complaining because he teaches ALOT of very VERY vaulable information.

Total beginner question, but you browse through bridge, and drag the file right into the local files pane. This does not work on the Mac. The Pane disappears every time I go to another application, even dreamweaver in compact mode with it floating over everything. Got any insight?

You need it on every page. Usually you'd make a page into a template then apply it to every other page. That way you only do it once and if you have to make a change to the template it applies it to all your other pages.
