Hesitation, I hate it when it overwhelms you, you think up many ways to strike and perhaps even score but when you're put in the spot, your mind and body work on two different levels. I know some folks can't even make a move because of that problem as others can just have an all day kicking and punching spree because they don't suffer from it. You even plan on throwing the kick at the precise moment but when that moment comes, your body doesn't want to cooperate.

@Datleco Yeah, it happens. For me it depends who i'm fighting. I ALWAYS hesitate against a taller opponent who prefers kicks over punches. I always sit back and watch to see when I might be able to get in because I dont wanna get caught with a kick while trying to move in to get the point. lol.

@32KarateGuy I remember when I was training for my black belt in TKD and when I finally decided to throw a side kick, I see one quick turn from my opponent and the next instant I was clocked in the right side of my head by a wheel kick. He is my Master and being knocked in the head just right by a guy like him... I was seeing tunnel vision and fought to keep consciousness. Let's just say I kept to myself while remaining on the side lines for the rest of the day, lol

@Datleco hahaha, The worst thing that ever happened to me was when I was fighting a taller blackbelt he's a little higher ranked than I am.. but not by much. I kept trying to get inside his long legs to keep him from kicking so much. As I came in he threw a spinning hook kick and nailed me right in the nose. Right away my eyes teared up and my nose started bleeding everywhere. That night my gi needed bleached, and my nose hurt for a few days. Thankfully it wasnt broken or anything. lol

@32KarateGuy I got popped in the nose last time I sparred a black belt that was 1 degree higher, it hurt like nothing else but luckily it didn't bleed nor did it break. I think my nose is one of the luckiest parts of my body, I know how that spinning hook kick is like, I got clocked in the back of the head when I tried throwing out a 360 on a different black belt. Timed it even better than I did... o.O

@Datleco hahaha, The last few tournaments I've been to have been going great as far as sparring goes. It seems like kicking and punching are becoming reflexes. Like I threw a kick and the kid took my back leg out and I drew back in the the chamber on the way down then shot it back out and caught him on the side before I hit the ground. I love how i've been doing things this past year. I wanna keep practicing so I dont lose that edge that I love so much. I love being in the zone.

But yeah kung fu is great, I being a karate guy haven't faced anyone using kung fu so I really don't know how good it is it all depends on the teacher, apparently my art is known also as a form of ninjutsu or something. But you shouldn't allow your style to bias you against others because they are different from yours. respect all things, and you will get it back one day.
