Not too mad on the car but to make electronic cars more appealing they really need to have gears/gearshifting and made to replicate what we have been ingrained with mentally over years. You just can't beat a gearshift for feeling the drive and people like to do just that, drive. Replicate the fuel octane experience electronically and you'll have people more interested. Not forgetting the affordability and facilitating of such a vehicle, e.g., powerpoints, quick charging, etc.

The idea of the teensyweensy car is to facilitate transport of one or two people in the most economical way possible (don't forget that japan is a horribly crowded place, so small cars are what they need).
