@Ryantravisaol - The history of the English V sign goes back to the 15th century when England fought the French who threatened to cut off the two 'plucking' fingers of English and Welsh bowmen in retaliation of the superiority of the English in defeating the French from battles such as Cressy and Agincourt. When the bowmen met the French in battle, they would use this sign as a sign of derision to their enemy. I've no idea where the middle finger sign used by Americans comes from.

@EllysaE The idea of the episode was to find the best car for a first time driver, with a budget (car + insurance) of 2,500 pounds. they were pretending to act like teenages as part of the gag of the project. "Mom and Dad spent X amount on the car" "What's my mum going to say", sneaking home in the middle of the night. they did once drag their mom's in to test some small cars about 4 years before (S6 E 04)

Though, now that I think about, acting like teenages is normal for the three of them
