i got a question...idk if its just my kar or if its a all out problem for everybody.....sometimes when i shoot the shell will get stuck and i will have to get pliers to get it out...also LOTS of times the pellete wont even shoot out of the shell...ill have to get a handger and force it out of the shell.....so i need HEEELLPP ... it just pisses me off because i paid 300 dollars for it and it doesnt work right

ok gentlemen. the 1898 gewehr was copied by springfield to make the 1903, in fact it copied it EXACTLY so, mauser got pissed and sued them. the 1903 and 1898 mauser do not come with scopes. no rifle EVER should be made with scope only unless it is custom made.
well, to actually make a sniper out of the K98's you had to drill and tap the top where the sights were, so only so many were made like that, cause it wasnt truly convenient to do it if a infantryman wasnt gunna have a scope.
you CAN convert it, its just more difficult since the tapping and drilling
yes a normal battle rifle issued to ALL german soldiers, aside from those specialized in mp40, or g43, or one of the mg's. was equipped with scopes. learn some weapon information rather than playing COD WaW.

I believe that the U.S. Army during that tme stopped the using 1903s for the infantry. Only issued them to snipers. @KMCmasterpiece ok so i was hasty to say that no rifle should be made into a sniper unless its custom made, but it has its truths, the standard 1903's and K98's didnt have scope mounts on them. they had to be drilled and tapped specifically to have a scope put on regular soldiers couldnt do this in the field. so they were custom in that sense. also the 1903 saw quite a bit of service with the Marines in japan since the m1 garand had quite short production early in the war. so 1903 saw service
@KMCmasterpiece The two things wrong with the Springfield rifle in saving private Ryan is that it is a 1903A4 not A3 the A4 was a marine corps issue sniper rifle that lacked the iron sites US army used the A3 that still had iron sights. Two scopes are used in the film the small one is a 2.5 power Redfield used by the US army on the 1903A3 the big one is an 8 power Unertl scope used by the marines. So his rifle is wrong and he should only use the Redfield scope as hes an army ranger

No Springfield ever had a scope on it. Springfield only manufactured the M1903 which was an infantry rifle. The sniper model was the M1903a4 which was manufactured by Remington only.
Not ever sniper rifle is required to have a scope. The first generation Springfield, which was the primary weapon in WWI, didn't have a scope because I don't think that they could give out scopes to every single riflemen in the army. They just gave it to the talented sharp shooters who can hit a dime a mile away.

I agree with bubba. It was both. Mainly an infantry rifle sure, but it was also used as a sharpshooter rifle (though those models were distinct in some ways, since few kar98ks were capable of actually having a scope)
You can mount aftermarket scopes by replacing the rear sight, sure. But in WW2, there was distinct sniper variations of the kar98k that supported a claw-style mount, or a turret mount. As far as I know, there were no scopes that replaced the rear sight in WW2.
it's not necessarily a sniper rifle. it is accurate enough to be considered a sniper rifle, but there are select Mauser K98's that have been coverted to sniper variants. I own two of them. one has a standard scope and the other has a long-eye-relief scope
It was dubbed the Karabiner 98 Kurz, you being German I'm sure you know what that means, point is, it wasn't originally intended to be used as such. In my opinion it's a rifle. I share my opinion with many members of the Wehrmact and W/SS serving 64+ years ago.

Yes the kar98k was a shorter version of the kar98 correct me if im wrong. The
7.92x57 was a great round while shorter than the 30-06 it had a greater sized bullet and more foot per pound and it was both an infantry rifle and a sniper rifle.
EVERYBODY! It is both a sniper rifle and an infantry rifle. the more advanced soilders used them as med ranged weapons while the novices used them as snipers. it was incredibly effective with a scope in WW2 so stop saying it is one or the other.

After the creation of the Gewher Rifle the Kar98K was a Sniper. It was prefered because it was more accurate and had a better reliabilty. Do your research next time.

I think it's best said that it depends on the individual behind the rifle. Even the M1 Garand has been used as a sniper rifle, but only snipers can use it as such.
Anyone can fire a gun and kill... FEW can fire a gun extremely accurately from impressive distances and still hit their mark. That is what dictates the sniper rifle.

it's not necessarily a sniper rifle. it is accurate enough to be considered a sniper rifle, but there are select Mauser K98's that have been coverted to sniper variants. I own two of them. one has a standard scope and the other has a long-eye-relief scope

It was dubbed the Karabiner 98 Kurz, you being German I'm sure you know what that means, point is, it wasn't originally intended to be used as such. In my opinion it's a rifle. I share my opinion with many members of the Wehrmact and W/SS serving 64+ years ago.

Geez, I never looked into that bud. The gun is not mine, so I never had an interest in upgrading its internals.
If I had to take a guess, I would compare it with the M15A4 barrel. Don't take my word for it though, do research before you buy one.

You definitely need a barrel, the accuracy is way lower than a pistol :P I didn't found out what barrel is needed but I`ll put a comment here when I do.

I disagree. Have you seen Enemy at the Gates? It depends on the shooter. A sniper can do it with or without a scope.
Both ways are done in that movie.

Yes the kar98k was a shorter version of the kar98 correct me if im wrong. The
7.92x57 was a great round while shorter than the 30-06 it had a greater sized bullet and more foot per pound and it was both an infantry rifle and a sniper rifle.

EVERYBODY! It is both a sniper rifle and an infantry rifle. the more advanced soilders used them as med ranged weapons while the novices used them as snipers. it was incredibly effective with a scope in WW2 so stop saying it is one or the other.

lol, so many people who think they know what there talking about because they play call of duty world at war, i play it to (or used to) but the kar was used both as and infantry rifle AND a sniper rifle during ww2, mostly as a sniper when the gewer another semi auto weapons began to be used more frequently. i love this rifle and want a real one, but ill never be able to get one without some sort of mirical so this airsoft interests me :P

After the creation of the Gewher Rifle the Kar98K was a Sniper. It was prefered because it was more accurate and had a better reliabilty. Do your research next time.

As for the gun being infantry or sniper, it doesn't matter. It was used for both. It all depends on who was using it.

I think it's best said that it depends on the individual behind the rifle. Even the M1 Garand has been used as a sniper rifle, but only snipers can use it as such.
Anyone can fire a gun and kill... FEW can fire a gun extremely accurately from impressive distances and still hit their mark. That is what dictates the sniper rifle.
I called the gun a sniper rifle in my video, because it just resembles a rifle that a sniper would use.... I don't know why it caused such a debate.

only the police group and spotters had an m4 in that event and that was like 6 people out of 66 people. the most common sniper rifle there was the SR-25, and then the M24. the Kar98k is a WW2 gun, which the Germans did use for sniping back then, . Don't believe me? go search Google, watch some more of military channel(expesially weaponology because they have a good episode on snipers), go to fort Benning, go through the marine sniper program, and tell me I am wrong.
