I went to NYC for the first time in my life on my 10th grade trip, we went up in the South Tower of the World Trade Center and went to the observation deck, it was amazing, I remember it so well.... I can still picture it all.....it was May of 2001, 4 months before 9/11.

I remember being absolutely terrified, (I am female, despite sign in name and really scared of heights!) but when I got to the top, the view from the Top of the Word was breathtaking. Truly amazing. I remember thinking wow, imagine if you fell from here and my stomach lurched. Little did I know for so many people, that thought would be a reality. Does not bear thinking about, and my stomach still lurches every time I do.
I wish I had the chance to go up to the top of these buildings before they fell but I was 10 years old on 9/11 and will never get that chance forever.
To think that all it took was a handful of hateful, islamic goat-shaggers armed with box-cutters to bring them down, killing three-thousand innocent civilians.

@habbomanish the north tower was slightly taller than the south tower by 6 feet. the north tower was the one with the antenna on top and its height was approx. 1368 feet and the south tower's height was approx. 1362 feet.
The arrow points down after it gets near the top just like any other elevator with directional arrows on the indicator. It is letting the people know that the elevator will be going down. On newer elevators it will be accompanied by a voice "Going Down"

Got married in City Hall 24/11/2000. spent the rest of the day in the cellar bar WTC. Just the best day! Had my kilt on Murray Of Atholl tartan. We dined at the windows on the world restaurant. I was there in 1993 and i perfectly remember the elevator! ... the guide actually let me press the button because i was the last one to get in :-) ... I kinda remember this wallsized picture of king kong as well... it was a very clear day but windy and the roof was closed but they opened it after about 45 minutes... I don't have words to describe what i saw... it was just breathtaking.. being able to see as far as the eye could reach... i felt literally on top of the world...
I remember being in that huge room sized elevator and my ears popping! And I still remember the red suit wearing bell hops! It's all just a memory I preserve now.

I was there in 1993 and i perfectly remember the elevator! ... the guide actually let me press the button because i was the last one to get in :-) ... I kinda remember this wallsized picture of king kong as well... it was a very clear day but windy and the roof was closed but they opened it after about 45 minutes... I don't have words to describe what i saw... it was just breathtaking.. being able to see as far as the eye could reach... i felt literally on top of the world...

it is said to have been the 'perfect' demolition... even though of course it would have been better to have not happened at all.. but when these buildings did fall, they fell vertically downward... Imagine if they had toppled sideways as they fell- how much more damage would have been caused
