I wonder what this excerpt was filmed for, Perhaps a news reel. This isn't from the telefilm, which may have come after this. Oddly, Ots is rather stiff and not at his best here, probably because of the awkward setup. Also, Tamara is silent here and gesticulates rather pathetically in a passage in which she is supposed to be singing. The telefilm, despite the crude production, is magical. What a shame that Rubinstein's operas are so neglected that there exist almost no recordings.
@MsKiraRose Ots is at his best here - he sang it brilliantly. As for his acting, he didn't have to move , because his character is not a human. Look at Mikhail Vrubel's painting 'Daemon'
