  • Sailing was never the problem for me. It was the, "you missed the spot by like 5 inches," kind of thing. Like you drift too far that the slow movement isn't worth the time and you have to constantly change the wind direction just to get the treasure spot. And if you miss again... DUDE. Otherwise, everything else about this game was alright.

  • i never really liked sailing in Phantom Hourglass it was just boring to me but i LOVED sailing in Wind Waker cus of this song :D

  • Some say that sailing in this game gets boring, but I disagree. Sailing with this epic music is one of my favorite thing in the game.

  • JUST A FEW MORE HOURS

  • The feeling of nostalgia I get from listening to this song is almost overwhelming. I have chills.

  • I'll admit the sailing was tedious-as-hell in this game, but slowly and dramatically adjusting the camera while listening to this mighty fine theme... it's something I'll ever forget.

  • @Joshawotter Playing Phantom Hourglass actually really made me appreciate sailing in this game.

  • That song is just perfect... It give me chills each time I hear it.

Damn god, I have to finish WW... Remains only 2 parts of the triforce...

  • I hope this comes out on the 3DS

  • my buddy races boats. I insisted this played, slowly eased in as we headed away from shore.

    Can die now happy

  • fuck, who doesn't love this song? this is the PERFECT theme for an ocean voyage song

  • Hydrophobia kicking in... nah just kidding. L:code74:kO

  • best song ever.

    that is all

  • The greatest song from the greatest zelda game. Ahh this brings back memories.

  • They some how caught the essence of the exploration, and the ocean in music form. Now give it back before all the fishies die!

  • Everyone always complains about the sailing in this game and how it took forever to get anywhere. But setting a course and jamming across the waves ahead of the wind was my favorite part of the game.

  • I want a sailboat. Link makes it look so easy.

  • My face when the sun came up while I was sailing: :D

My face when the sun went back down: D:

    The reason? This.

  • @616TheBeast616 Yeah, agreed. Me, being a girl, I didn't mind the colorful stuff, but I guess people hate change. I loved this song and the one leaving Outset. I played this game through so many times... OoT actually comes in second to this for me. I haven't tried the 3D version, though.

  • When a piece makes just staring at a screen barely doing anything with your controller feel awesome, you know the composer's really good.

  • if I was a pedophile

    I would molest Makar

  • I played this game from start to finish while I was sick. It was calming and wonderful sailing between islands.

  • o_o....SO many memories and broken controls cus this game just drove me nuts LOL xD

  • so nostalgic, a true song of a huge adventure

  • The whole score of this game is simple AWESOME!

  • lol i was scared of sailing...the fucking sharks scared the fuck outta me

  • Ah good times sailing to this song. :D

  • I loved the sailing in this game! =)

It's like driving between cities in San Andreas. Really gives you that "Wow, this world is huge!" feeling. Great immersion ^^

  • I remember bein' one of the people who thought this game was retarded because of the way it looked. Then you play it, an' it's like 'yeh, this is a Zelda game~' X3 I could sail on that motha-fuckin' boat ALL day~ >|3 they did SUCH a good job with the whole sailing aspect, it's absolutely beautiful~ :'3

  • @RadicalEdwardBK Yeah, Wind Waker is criminally underrated just because of it's graphics. The gameplay is epic though, my favorite Zelda game next to OoT.

  • I loved sailing in Wind Waker mostly for this music.

  • That's why I hate nights in that game.

  • @TheKastenbrot yup it's just not the same without this song..:)

  • I will say this much...the Legend of Zelda series has only really gotten better over the years (Not sure about the DS ones I got the sequal to Wind Waker for it, didn't like it too much but meh). However I still remember those late nights on OOT and LTTP and TP (Twilight Princess). The games always have a new twist on something or other, you never really feel like you're just doing the same thing you did in the last game. It always feels fresh and that's why I love Zelda. Even MM pulled it off

  • Amazing enough said!!!!!!! Do dodododo.....

  • @crystalnite

    @TheNintendonerd1986

Don't get me wrong, Twilight Princess was just as, if not more amazing than Wind Waker.

It's just, after 3 years of not playing any Zelda whatsoever (The DS ones don't count. I never had them), I just kinda forgot about it.

I'm replying to your comments because I feel the need to defend my Zelda fandom. :P

I don't usually do this, trust me.

  • @MrWhoopsiedaisy LOL i feel u

  • You’re sailing on, Link (repeat x8) Onward lad! O’er the briny sea! On you sail! Go... Bravely to… Uncharted… Lands far from home… Fearlessly! Fight evil! Like a giant squid! Or some imps! And… Big frickin’ birds! They’re no match… For your sword! Or your bombs! Go!!!
  • I had lost faith in Zelda, and I didn't really care about Skyward Sword anymore.

    I listened to this song.

5 seconds later, I ran out and preordered the damn game!

  • @MrWhoopsiedaisy how could u have lost faith in zelda after a game as beautiful and entrancing as twilight princess?

  • @crystalnite Yeah! WTF MAN!!!! you ain't a true Zelda fan........

  • I loved the sailing. Made you feel like an adventurer on the big sea plus it was wide open whereas all other zelda overworlds are boxed in with mountains or hills. I still remember that part when the world is stormy and you have to go back to Windfall island and get the bombs. I was sitting on the sofa all wrapped up and looking outside to see it was also raining. So awesome.

  • I must say I didn't care too much for this song. I hated sailing in this game, so BORING! Thumbs up if you cried as much as I did during the final fetch quest?

That being said, all other songs, and aspects of this game, were nothing short of amazing

  • I could stand this song for like 2 secs then get annoyed by it

  • Oh how much I enjoyed sailing when the sun was rising. That beautiful morning jingle, followed by stunning graphics and THIS song.

  • i tried to make sailing more epic by always being like...."oh SHIT! it's getting dark, i don't think I can get to windfall in time for the auction FUCK!!"

  • My favorite Zelda games in no particular order:

The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker

The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap

  • @ChrisCa1601 Mine would be Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess.

Those are the ones I had the biggest connection with c:

  • Nostalgia level: over 9000.

  • i loved this music. and i loved this game, and sailing. everyone hated it. but i fucking enjoyed it. still never got everything

  • i would sail around just to hear this

  • Without this song, gathering tri-force pieces would have been unbearable. BURN IN HELL, TINGLE

  • I like to listen this song or any Zelda overworld when I'm on road trips or walking to class.

  • @Tenorsaxman3030 well listening to this would make walking to class seem exciting :)

  • @MulinaTheAngelWolf Ok, phantom hourglass was a pretty decent game on its own. I actually kind of liked PH, and beat it with 3 hearts and everything, but it just didn't have that spark to it that wind waker had.

  • TOT sniff sniff

  • favorite song from the game :D

  • Got so many memories, it was so exciting to explore new islands and stuff, it was a true adventure game.

  • Honestly, though, I kind of liked the sailing, It made it feel like a more open game than the others. I wish they'd make a GOOD wind waker 2. PH sucked.

  • @IWannaBeThePie

I love phantom hourgls... though we are all entitled to out own opinions. Though good point there sequel could have been epic...

  • @MulinaTheAngelWolf they were sorta meh to me, i guess that's because i always compare things... and spirit tracks, i've never played.

  • 1:24 to 2:17 ahh, nostalgia.

  • nautical win!!!!

  • dödödööööö dödöööööööö :D

  • Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda version, besides ocarina of time (of course).

  • LOVED this song! Made the sailing a lot more fun, can remember looking at the map and then sailing to this eipicness!

  • Anytime I'm windsurfing or sailing, i hear this tune in my head

  • Loved the art style. It's also akin to sprites, the graphics are timeless and will never go out of date like the graphics in OoT or Majora's Mask or any game at the time.

Cel shaded graphics won't ever be out of date because it's style over technical prowess. Likewise with sprite based games like the old Mario games or Metroid.

  • Im in love with them by far ^^ I loved them all I couldnt choose but...I guess if I had to it would be this one hehe thanks for uploading these your amazing brings back memories hehe. :3

  • its a great song. and thanks for posting it, but isnt tha track called The Great Sea?

  • this game = my childhood!

i remember me and my cousin would boot up the gamecube and spend hours playing through this just to find out that we were late for school! oh how i would love to be back in those times!

  • I loved to sail. But damn, thoses Big Octos... Everytime, I tried to sail somewhere I knew there wouldn't be any Big Octos...

  • I love this soundtrack. I love seeing the bemused and weird looks I get as I'm blasting this very tune from my car speakers as I'm riding down the 436.

  • @Kazeneko You are my hero.

  • @Kazeneko WHY didn't I think of that! Awesome idea!!

  • @Kazeneko They're bemused because they've never heard awesome before. It can be confusing for first-timers.

  • @Kazeneko Hahahaha, do you have a sail on your car? =P

  • @BrolySuperSaiyen LOL! Does the flag on my antenna count?

  • @Kazeneko Haha yes it does!!

  • @Kazeneko I just gigglesnorted so hard. You have no idea. Take my man card, I don't care, this is the best thing I've ever read.

  • I got this on Zune .!

  • cool ... brings back memories

  • don't know why people weren't too fond of the sailing...

plus, we NEED toon link on a consle zelda game!

  • @TheRealOtacon what do you mean "again"? Are you saying that you SOLD your gamecube/wii?!

  • I could be sailing all day just to listen this tune, and when it turned tyo night i would make it day again. After 1:25 its where the song gets me, and feels epic.

  • wish i had that game and a cube or a wii again this theme´s making me sad wind waker is propably the best game eva

  • @TheRealOtacon

buy it and play that game^^

wind waker is just a epic game

  • yea i mean i had the game before but i dont own a cube or wii now .... sad but true, lol

  • this is one of the best zelda themes IMO :P

  • Best overworld song in a Zelda game, and I haven´t played this one

  • Ok, now that I got all of the Triforce charts, now for the Triforce shards.

  • everytime im in a boat i hear this song in ma head xD

  • I loved sailing but everytime I saw the seagulls (so my brother says) I'd yell "Damn birds, leave me the hell alone!"

  • The seagulls actually mean that there is a giant octo somewhere near. it helps

  • with this tune, is not boring anymore to explore the great sea :)

  • so peaceful!! I hate looking for those triforce pieces under water

  • I forgot how much i love this theme, makes sailing epic. Even tough the sailing times where damn long, this song made it more enjoyable. This makes you want to play Wind Waker Again, but with a totally different history, like a mod or something. I have phantom hourglass but personally i didn't like it that much (I know it's a good game, but i prefer wind waker)

  • Still can't believe I got scared of this game...

Playing during the late night, lights off.

    Randomly Sailing, collecting Heart Pieces,

and suddenly seeing the fcking ghost ship pop outta nowhere. Does *Wtf? and Powers Off the GC* And hits the sheets.

When you sleepy, but still gaming, you start thinking about stuff. LOL

  • Same here I got really afraid of this game.

Those hands scared the shit outta me

and the zombies were very obscure

  • LMAO, but it is a good song once in a while, we all have spent days beyond end sailing the damn ocean.

  • This was a fantastic game. The music and gameplay were top-notch. The graphics...well, to be honest, the cartoon style...seeing the characters look like bobbleheads broke my heart. But that didn't stop me from enjoying the game, seeing as Nintendo went back to a more realistic art style for console Zeldas.

  • I was always so confused on why people didnt like this game. I thought it was amazing. Second best in the series after Link to the Past. Music was amazing, it always is.

  • loved the way this actualy had an amazing story! about six dungeons and tons of mini games,, especially that last part is what makes me love it so much, there's so much to do and explore!

  • Amen! :D

  • In my mind, this is the best zelda game ever. And I'v played both twlilight pricess

    and OoT

  • i like the split realms of zelda games, the cartoon style goes back to the roots of zelda with the childish imaginative style but still being deep and powerful, and the epic zelda style like twilight princess, where everything is real and tangible, zelda has it all.

  • I never minded the sailing, i enjoyed it very much. Mostly because of this song

  • action packed theme

  • @koosgrandi00s it felt nice when you had nothing to do all day as well

  • OoT had a special orchestra CD (search about Hyrule Symphony) but the music ingame was played by a computer. Even the orchestra version of Kakariko was just a virtual orchestra. (I own the European Soundtracks of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask and I can't see a hint about a real orchestra. All you can read is "Written & Composed by Koji Kondo")

  • I can't forgive the triforce fetch quest.

  • An orchestra version of this would be very epic!

  • To HamuSumo:

Not to be a asshole or anything like that, but isn't this "the" orchestra version?

  • As fas as I know the TWW soundtrack is completely done on computer.

  • Nah, even Ocarina of Time used orchestral music. The most zelda games from after the 64 bit age used orchestral music.

  • A lot of people don't like the amount of sailing in TWW, but I didn't mind because of this song.

  • Hmm, then I guess a orchrstra version be epic......as long as they slow down the tiempo.

  • I sense vibes from this one in Lake Hylia (Twilight Princess). Both amazing tracks.

  • This is my favorite song from Windwaker. I would just randomly sail around sometimes just to listen to it X3

  • Really love this track. Makes me wanna go out to the world and explore! Sailing in this game was one of the best things in the game for me.

  • I'm still stuck in this game. XDD

  • wind waker is cool but id have to go with ToS as the best game on the gc partly because wind waker gives u too much busy work. for example finding the pieces of tri force and other stuff like that.

  • Man i love the game, it's awesome

  • Ahh... For some reason, I always like being at sea. You sail waters, not knowing what'll happen, yet facing anything that comes your way.

  • Make your words my words man. LOVE THIS FUCKIN GAME

  • I played hours with that music on sea, and it was pure happiness, I'll go back to the game anyday.

  • until it turned quickly to night and your boat would get rapped by krakens and huge ass whirlpools, lol.

i never was able to find the ice island to get the iron boots...so i still havent beaten it.

  • zelda has the best soundtrack ever!

oot is the best : D

  • Oh man, Wind Waker had such great music. The Dragon's Roost Island theme is another good one.

  • I love this music so much, and it fit the ocean perfectly. I only wish that the islands in the game weren't all cut and paste of eachother. >_>

  • This song is soothing enough that it always used to make my wife fall asleep if I was playing Zelda. She would actually suggest that I play GameCube so that she could take a nap.

  • I love this music, it makes me feel good, Phantom Hourglass's was good but I think Wind Waker's is better.

  • This song is amazing, with its epic and heroic feel, combined with an almost sad quality to convey that this is a destroyed Hyrule and the "final" adventure.

  • This music is impressive and so encouraging when using the sailing boat. I love it.

  • This is my favorite rendition of the Zelda main theme, also my favorite overworld music from any Zelda title. It actually made sailing those tremendous distances bearable, which is saying something.

  • I love the hints of the original Zelda theme in the melody.

  • great song brings back memories :D

  • it's...so...big!!!!!!

This brings back so many memories of the game!

    Also, the sea wuz huge!!!!!!!!

  • So true. The entire overworld was nothing more but a 7x7 grid.

  • Oh most definitely. I feel like playing WW now. Great choice.

  • I prefer this one over PH's. I've heard PH's so much now that I'm sick of it :X

  • Perfect traveling music!

  • This is such a cool song!

  • This game is my favorite Zelda because of the art style and because of how satisfying the combat was.

  • Truly a beautiful piece. My favorite music in the game.

  • Nintendo will never release any Philips CD-I crap on the VC!!!!! There will be no Hotel Mario and the 3 horrible Zelda titles! That is a rumor and it needs to die!!!

  • O for the love of all that is good and pure in the universe PLEASE TELL ME YOU JOKING SLIQ!!!!!

  • I bet I hold the WR for the number of hours spent hearing this tune, and I still love it. Every time I hear it I want to play the game.

Is this my favorite videogame tune?

  • Worth favoriting this song a second time...

  • This is my favorite Zelda Game.

  • First time I played this game, I HATED it. WAY too easy, it pissed me off.

Ironic it is that now it is my favorite as well. With a second playthrough, my old hatreds fell away. The game is quite charming and I love the seamless sea exploration. NO LOAD TIMES! And, despite it's more gritty look and lengthier story, Twilight Princess was even easier than Windwaker making me prefer the cartoony masterpiece.

Perhaps I'm just too good at Zelda games at this point...

  • If you started playing from like, the first ones, you get used to how most of the puzzles work, so it ends up getting easier and easier with each new Zelda game. =P

  • My only real beef in this game were a couple of the music choices. Xylophones? In a dramatic battle? Shoot me now.

Other than that, it was nice to see a Link that actually new swordsmanship (swashbuckling, not fencing) and it quite a few good music scores to make up for the abysmal. Go Molgera!

  • Oh, and my favourite Zelda is A Link to the Past. The puzzles just got too easy after that.

  • Best one!...I wish I hadnt stoped playing this..But it got old..Fast..I miss this music..Faved. 5/5

  • this is my favourite Legend of Zelda game

Even if u dont like the fact that it is cel-shaded (i luv it), u still have to realize that it is some of the finest cel-shading of a game ever

  • Agreed. The cel-shaded graphics are still amazing today.

  • orcarina of time is my fav

tbh the cel-shaded graphic werent to bad

the game play makes up for it by far

    in fact

i think im going to go play it right now

  • I'm not sure I could name my favorite Zelda game to be honest! I pretty much loved them all except (and don't hurt me!) Majora's Mask and Phantom Hourglass.

  • Whoah, wait what? Megaman ZX and Pokemon are the ONLY games that excelled on the D.S? I must be missing something Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Sonic Rush Sonic Rush Adventure Final Fantasy III Final Fantasy IV Civilization Revolution Phoenix Wright etc. -shrug- I guess I was wrong when I thought those were some of the best selling DS games...
  • @DracXBelmont you are forgetting one very important game seriessss

  • @DracXBelmont not to mention TWEWY, zelda, mario kart, and many others

  • @SupraDarky majoras mask is really good!!

  • @SupraDarky same here in my opinion majoras mask seemed repetitive and phantom hourglass i easily finished in one day.this game however took me 4 weeks

  • why can't they make a cel chaded old link or an realstic looking young link?
