Those stairs go down one deck to the Viking Deck. When I went in 1994 they had skeet shooting from there. When the ship was the France the Viking deck was much bigger outside. NCL extended the pool deck almost to the end of the ship. This is one thing I like better that NCL did then the original SS France. I loved standing at the back of the pool deck, look forward and see each of the upper decks terraced up.
That was Viking deck and part of the original SS France. It is the longest passenger deck, that is why I choose to film it instead of one of the other decks. Check out the video by psari call "A Groovy 60's girl" It shows a women walking out of the Hair Salon that is on the same deck. Not much changed between the France and Norway in that area of the ship.
This is great! i was there for that journey working in the theatre. was on that ship for nearly a year .. honestly the best of my life, so many wonderful people and great memories.. sad to see her go
great retrospective of this beautiful lady. sadly, i missed my chance to sail on her. what a beautiful testament to the reteo-glam/art-deco era, she is sorely missed.
OMG.. was on that.. My first voyage on Norway.. What fun we had.. I wasnt so technologically advanced with video then, but had some great shots throughout the voyage.. Ah sweet memories.. Cheers Croix
I spent 3 years working on the Norway as a casino dealer. 1991-1994. Seeing her demolished is like seeing your childhood home razed to the ground. Very sad. So many good times. I can remember it just like it was yesterday.
Me too. I loved sitting at the back of the Pool Deck on the Norway. Looking forward the next several decks each terraced up giving the feeling of space. The only new ship that is simular is the Queen Mary 2. Most all the other newer ships the top deck goes all the way to the back then down 12 decks.
man this ship just seems to glide through the rough seas. what a great liner she was. sad to see her go.

I sailed on this ship from Florida to Spain and it was quite dated but it was a classic beauty and a grand ship. What a shame to end its life.

The aft stairs at 8:47:50 look like they lead right off the stern! What a shame this legend is now little more than heaps of scrap metal.

was that a lower deck in the original ship, or one of the suitcase decks hideously added in the '80s?
