Thank you so much for this informative video. I never really explored art before (outside of coloring books when I was a kid) but I had the urge to try out pastels this morning and wanted to do some research before going out and blindly shopping. This was very helpful - thank you again!!! (:
Happy New Year! (I want to remind you this 'short' is from my Instructional DVD "Painting Water with Pastels"... available through the Cheap Joe's website link above. It's 2 hours of lots of great info on pastel painting:-)
@DritonGusia Instead of Fixatives, use a professional pastel paper or surface. It has a sand paper like tooth that will hold the pastel in place. (I also knock off loose pastel when I am done with painting... otherwise, it will fall during framing.) My favorite pastel surfaces are Richeson Premium Pastel Surfaces... especially on Gator Foam. I can rinse off bad pastel paintings with water and use again! Also, try Colourfix... excellent product.

Excuse me, I was wondering if there is anything that can be used insted of Fixatives!
I dont spray it because its too unnatural, and I wont let anything that artificial touch my work, but yet I need to save it from fragility
I wanna work layer upon layer, is there any onther way I can do that?
Thank you!

@DritonGusia idk... anything that you would need to coat will be "unnatural" and don't be so picky if you are trying to preserve your work,
