  • The oh so talented Jessee Havey will be performing with members of The Duhks in Winnipeg on May 24th, 2011. Do a little Facebook search for "The Prairie Kitchen Party" for details! It's gonna be a boot-stomper!

  • @raininggently Wish I could see them again with her on lead! What a voice AND stage presence!

  • This made my terrible day disapear.

  • ok...who missed the like button? This is so good!

  • in a comment battle, everybody loses. such is the nature of the internet.

  • Shut yer fat mouth fool. I don't know where you got the idea that you could detect talent or good music quickly. Maybe you should try to detect when you sound like an idiot.

  • Uhh, if you've ever seen Tania... she's not fat. It's just the outfit she's wearing here.

  • lets just ignore the shallow end of the genetic pool that ended up as sluv ... the fat head

  • I never loved a song this much

  • @RamoSFTT

The fat girl playing the violin has a better voice than the lead singer. Check her out at 3:52 when she comes in at the end.

  • @sluv2600 ...you made a judgement on Jessee Havey vs. Tania Elizabeth's singing based on a few seconds of doing background harmonies?

And don't try to tell me you've actually listened to more of the music, or you would probably be able to cite a name other than "the fat girl."

  • @redjameskidd

What's your problem? You're right I never heard of this group before let alone their music. I checked out this vid because I like Tracy Chapman's Mountain O Things. I think the fat girl does have a better voice than the lead singer. The fat girl should be the lead singer of that band.

  • @sluv2600 I just thought it was funny that your opinion on who is a better singer than who was based on ten seconds of background vocals, consisting of nothing but the word "dreamin' " repeated a few times. I usually require a touch more than that before deciding who the better vocalist is.

And I don't think it should be difficult to gauge why someone might be annoyed by a douche calling one of the musicians "the fat girl" as a means of identification.

  • @redjameskidd

Well since I didn't know her name I thought "fat girl, playing the violin" was apt. She is a fat girl playing the vioin isn't she? Or should I say skinny man playing the flute? Which is correct to describe her? Or maybe she's a he-she...

  • @sluv2600 Oh I don't know, how about "the girl playing the violin" (since there are SO MANY violinists on stage in this video---one) while omitting the unecessary "fat"?

  • @redjameskidd

What do you have against the word fat? I gave her compliments on her singing so I was in no way trying to down her. I think you're just trying to create drama. If I was making fun of her, do you think I'd also say that she should be the lead singer of that group?

  • @sluv2600 If you'll look back, you'll see my initial comment is much more about the simple humor of deciding you know who's a better singer than who based on the barest, briefest scrap of music. As if there's no reason one of them sings lead in the group and the other rarely sings.

But thankfully a sharp listener like you discovered the hidden truth!

And as far as the "fat" thing, I was under the impression that most people don't like to be called fatties. Was I wrong?

  • @redjameskidd

Well I didn't call anyone "fatty" so I feel good about that. I agree the word "fatty" is derogative, but again I didn't use it - you did. Thanks for your compliment about me being a "sharp listener"; I agree with that. I can decipher great music/talent quickly. As I said that fat girl should be the feature singer of that group. You know it matters who is the front man/woman in a group. Probably if the fat girl was featured, more than 2 people would know about this group...

  • Lazy? No way, not a single beat! It's a beautiful interpretation of a great song. Although Tracy's awesome it is equally awesome to listen to how you made it your own. I love it!

  • This sounds like a lazy version of the original I've heard better covers I'm sorry

  • lazy? the arrangement itself is pretty nuanced...and they're obviously rocking out. how is this lazy?

  • The Duhks were at WNRN this morning. Check out the videos at my page. The version of Fast Paced World they did is smoking.

  • i hope they know what they are singing about.....
