The VG-99 is only for guitars and amps modelisation, but you can use the GR-20 both, for string sounds and ...
The VG-99 is compatible to any midi-module. It has midi-output so you can use it as controller for any midi-synth.

does de VG-99 have a sound bank like drums or chelos? can u play drums without the GK-3? Thanks

You need the GK-3 with GR-20 for playing drums sounds, you can use the Guitams system too

The VG-99 has no internal sounds. You can trigger sounds from any midi-module or computer via midi connection.
The VG-99 has 400 internal sounds.
