@Mrinsane932: Your timing for this comment is exquisite -- Not more than 45 minutes after your comment on Sunday afternoon, Kurt Busch got into Elliott Sadler at the Pocono 500, turning him into the inside barrier in a crash so violent, it ejected the engine... And he walked away again.
ESPN analyst and former crew chief Tim Brewer said it was the most violent crash he's witnessed in 40 years.
i remember watching this my dad hated kurt and was cussing at the tv fiery mad and it was impossible for him to control his anger and i know kurt did nothing wrong. no one did
This crash was ok.......The most horrific crash in my opinion was Russell phillips in 95' at charlotte! I've seen a lot of crashes in motorsports since the 60's but Russell{rip} was sickening to me!!
i was front row when this happened.....almost directly in front of me....typically at talladega the front row is the worst seat in the house cuz ya cant see a lot of the track but i promise you i saw every bit of this. its as real as it gets. trust me. P.S. BEST THING ABOUT TALLADEGA IS THE PARTY THE NIGHT BEFORE. you havent lived until you camp out the night before the race. biggest party on earth. 200,000 drunk rednecks
what "theNERD1213" is talking about is a blowover cause the air got under the car and thats what fliped it, last year when micheal mcdowl hit the wall and fliped durring qualifying the air had nothing to do with flipping the car, but it was still a scary crash
Gotta have fans in the grandstands... And carry an insurance policy, too. Yeah, I know: 230 in IRL & 240 in CART are long gone.
Tony Renna's fatal wreck at Indy practice was the REAL tipping point: Car passed right through catchfence. Grandstands closed. Almost no news coverage, too. TG one lucky guy.
OMG this was the first full race I watched I was 12 at the time and I liked the cars cause I had a lot of toy cars from when I was like 7 and I found the race and scince then I have been a loyal NASCAR fan.... thanks for the vid.....
wrong. it was the spring race. i was there. "spring" is still a stretch. that weekend it was about 95 degrees with a heat index of about 500!!! barely a cloud in the sky for 2 days. and the humidity was insane! worst sunburn ive ever had but oh so worth it.
Dudes: Elliot Sadler walked away from the wreck! He was bruised and sore; but he raced the next weekend. Sadler was actually scheduled to appear on this same "Inside Winston Cup" show, but decided at the last minute to stay home. This was announced on the show at another point, i.e. not in this clip.
been fuckin awesome if he landed on ll 4 tires and kept going

well, at least we wont have to worry about those types of flips with the COT cars (although it takes some of the excitement out of the sport)
theNERD1213 3 years ago 5
bull, last year during practice a driver flipped a COT car

he ment a blowover not a flip from hitting a wall and there will not be a blowover from COT cars

Well, all of the excitement of the sport that once was is now gone because Brian France is a FUCKING IDIOT.
Winston2003 2 years ago
look up Micheal McDowell at Texas qualifying last year, hit the wall and flipped somewhere between 8-13 times.
roguelead72 2 years ago
why does everyone think its impossible to blow over with a cot if the situation is right there is still the chance of a blowover
NASCARExpert 2 years ago
I bet you changed you opinion about the COT after what happened on Sunday huh??

avroxdownliknonsenz 3 years ago
nooo, they didnt.. they are on avg, 10mph faster in the draft and almost 20 mph faster at the cookie cutter tracks.
1320crusier 3 years ago
k... that couldnt be farther from the truth. theyre slower on the cookie cutter tracks. by ALOT.

The good part and the bad part of restric plate:
Good part: They are slower... So it's made less G's and less domage to the car.
Bad part: Car are closes...

rickyruddfan88 4 years ago
these here guys should slow down to 75 mph!!!!1
Ballout2184 4 years ago
and did restrictor plates keep him from going airborne? obviously not. What has racing come to?
UH1Huey3113 4 years ago
thats not what its for just reduces speed to have to u hit wall at 190 instead of 210 the flaps on car are made to help keep the car down
Nascarfever 4 years ago
If there wasnt a restrictor plate on that car, it would have gone a lot higher and flipped way more viciously...
...Damn restrictor plates

he lived right? after all that...he lived!dale earnheart took WAY less damage and see what happend to him???!!!
chanjcw 5 years ago
Much harder impact that Earnhardt endured with no head restraints either... This imapct was reduced slowly but painfully.
bobolob 5 years ago
Exactly. All of Earnheart's inertia went right into the wall and into his body. So, in a way, Sadler was pretty lucky his car rolled.

O__O The car landed on its hood about 3 times and the driver STILL survived? That's just crazy. But it's a relief. O_O
