A prominent Canadian doctor says the 5 year cancer survivor rate is significantly higher in the US than in Canada. The wait list to see a specialist is 3 months and another 2 months after that for treatment to begin. 10,000 Canadian women had a class action lawsuit against the system for delayed radiation treatment for breast cancer alowing the cancer to spread. The list of failures there is endless.

That is not true. Most of them can afford to buy health insurance, they just do not want to and don't. They do get liability insurance for their cars because the laws requires that.
The obvious solution is to pass the same type of law and require health insurance. Those who cannot afford it would be those who qualify for Medicaid if they are US citizens.
It isn't that simple. People can be unelligible for a plethora of reasons, some simply cannot afford the premiums which are rising unrestrained due to the lack of competition, and , like you mentioned, some would rather not pay for something that doesn't guarantee them coverage. That obvious solution is trying to be passed at the moment, but it doesn't look positive.
No doubt many, who could afford it, do gamble by not purchasing health insurance, but most may be too broad a brush. Many, most, nearly impossible to know the true figures. Mandatory insurance would be a give away to to an insurance industry, is already doing quite well for itself. Mandatory insurance will need a level of government involvement, that will make hr 3200 look tame by comparison.
You seem to equate no insurance to no access to healthcare. Fact is. It is illegal to deny care. There are lots of places to get healthcare even for those that are uninsured.

If memory serves me correctly, the diver who retrieved her body said that there was a large air pocket in the car. She lived for quite some time (several hours) after Teddy wandered off on a munchie hunt. Basically, she was still alive when he had the presence of mind to order food at the restaurant he ended up at. He could have told the authorities and saved her life, but he chose not to. It's pretty inexcusable, and he should have done time. You and I would.

Recent news says the Canadian socialized system is all but bankrupt and in deep shit. A prominent Canadian doctor says the 5 year cancer survivor rate is significantly higher in the US than in Canada. The wait list to see a specialist is 3 months and another 2 months after that for treatment to begin. 10,000 Canadian women had a class action lawsuit against the system for delayed radiation treatment for breast cancer alowing the cancer to spread. The list of failures there is endless.

No I live in Canada and we're very happy with our system. We're very proud to live in a country where poor people without insurance don't die. Even conservatives here are in favour of socialized medicine. It's high time the US joined the rest of the industrialized world and got their act together!

I would disagree. First off, the Canadian government spent much less of its GDP on health care. Secondly, I call bullshit on that part about a "prominent Canadian doctor". Even if 10 000 Canadians didn't get the necessary health care in time, it is irrelevant seeing as how more than 47 000 000 Americans have no access to insurance in whatsoever. Anyway, the Canadian way of doing things is irrelevant because it won't be repeated in the US. You guys should get a public option.

That is not true. Most of them can afford to buy health insurance, they just do not want to and don't. They do get liability insurance for their cars because the laws requires that.
The obvious solution is to pass the same type of law and require health insurance. Those who cannot afford it would be those who qualify for Medicaid if they are US citizens.

It isn't that simple. People can be unelligible for a plethora of reasons, some simply cannot afford the premiums which are rising unrestrained due to the lack of competition, and , like you mentioned, some would rather not pay for something that doesn't guarantee them coverage. That obvious solution is trying to be passed at the moment, but it doesn't look positive.

No doubt many, who could afford it, do gamble by not purchasing health insurance, but most may be too broad a brush. Many, most, nearly impossible to know the true figures. Mandatory insurance would be a give away to to an insurance industry, is already doing quite well for itself. Mandatory insurance will need a level of government involvement, that will make hr 3200 look tame by comparison.

You seem to equate no insurance to no access to healthcare. Fact is. It is illegal to deny care. There are lots of places to get healthcare even for those that are uninsured.

And he had said many times that it WAS his fault. However going forward that haunted him for the rest of his life. Maybe that's why he became the most effective legislator that ever lived.
