I love your presentation on Google voice and you do a fine job on your presentation. What I would like to see you do is more tutorials on the inner workings of Google voice exactly how to set up different voice prompts for different people. It seems like you have the complete inner knowledge of Google voice so would you give a complete, detailed lesson on how to work Google voice. Thank you
Does anyone know if - when you call and recieve the free calls, does it still count towards your Verizon minutes because it comes through your cell phone?? I need to know if I can save a lot of money by reducing my minutes to a much lower rate.
Ok I'm not an anti facial hair guy. I just prefer to be clean shaven. Not trying to insult you dude. But that beard Is weird. I look at it and see you saying in heavy accent "mr bond I must have that microfilm" :-)
so what if you change your phone number? what if you get a new gmail address? What if you have google voice and you move to another country? does google voice offer language support for Brazilian Portuguese?
@capoderra If you change your phone number you can add and remove lines for google voice to forward the call. If you get a new gmail address, well, I don't know about that one. I just got another google voice. I don't think I can answer any other questions. .. sorry.
Hey Chris, great rewiew! Is it possible to have my cell phone ring, and then have the call re-routed to a second phone if I don't answer it. I like the fact that you can have many phones ringing AT THE SAME TIME, but I'd like to ring one phone at a time. In my case, I'd like to use the second phone as a backup if I don't answer the first phone.
This is way too long! I couldn't bare to listen to the entire 19.12 minutes, so I don't know if he mentioned this one very significant shortcoming of GV - it has some real problems with latency. Everyone is complaining about it and GV is not responding to the issue. I do hope they fix it. GV is otherwise fantastic!

It seems you Americans live by the edge of google, or some other techno madness. I really can't be asked to be catching up; I still send letters, use boats, walk, kill my own animals, pay servants, and shit in a pit latrine. This message is being sent from a street wifi hotspot paid for by the council, and i'll trash this device i'm typing on tonight on my way from my hunts because I don't support this way of life.
I got $1.00 credit. idk why they charged you. To find out, you have to go to the History link on the bottom of Calling Credit amount. There should be deductions that appear.
I have a Question about it. I would love to be able to have it can my cell and work. (That is what it is for) But my work number uses an extension to ring my office. Is there a way that Google Voice can call directly to my office using the extension, or what can be done to get around this problem?
Just go to settings, and under Forwards to there is an Edit button. Click that and check the box that says Receive SMS on this phone (make sure under Phone Type you choose Mobile).
As of 9.5.09 IPhone does not support the Google Voice app. Unless you just jailbreak it (like you should have done long ago). All the more reason to have an Android phone. Android Market however offers a very well designed easy to use app. Of course since it's Google it has to be free. :-)
Here is my Question. If i have att service with my cell phone. Ok so if I call someone on my cell phone and then route it through google voice. ok so will I use my minutes on my cell phone.
Yes it will use your minutes. Since you will have to call your Google Voice # then enter the # which you would like to speak to. You can also go online and click place a call enter the # and your phone will ring then it will connect you to the person u called so if you recieve free incoming calls then it wouldn't use your min if you did it that way.
are there any US carriers that give you free incoming calls? I thought all the major mobile carriers knock off your minutes whether you call or receive.
from what i understand, with the GV app, when you place a call and you have a "my favs" plan and the GV number is on the "my favs" list then it's a free call. besides, when you place a call the GV number calls you , then connects to the number you wanna call through GV. so i think your covered.
Google does not recognize Canada as a nation, just as the rest of the free world doesn't, and therefore the service will not ever be available there. Sorry ai
Hi Chris, Thanks for your video. Being new to GoogleVoice I am unsure of setting up voicemails and other things you mentioned in this video. Do you have another video of how to use GoogleVoice or someone who made one already? Thank you for your video. Sherri
About privacy issues ... Most People dont know that most companies (including the phone companies) sell their call lists to telemarketers all the time, you just need to check to see if google does the same or if they keep that info private (how do you think you get on call lists anyways .... hmmmm)

The best part is, if you have either VZW from/TM's Fave5 you can call out and in for free without using any peak minutes.
Too many problems being reported now, so I'm not converting from Grand Central until I'm forced to. Plus, GC can forward calls to Canada, GoogleVoices does not. Boo!
I'm happy to say that I am "the voice" of Google Voice (and previously Grand Central). I have been recording for them for years and I'm thrilled GV is finally launching to the mainstream. I wanted to thank you for doing such a fabulous job explaining the service. I learned even more about what GV can do from you (always good to know what I'm talking about;). Thank you for your support and I wish you continued success in your show.

GoDaddy provides sponsorship for our shows, our company is Jupiter Broadcasting.
Sounds like Google Voice would be a great fit!

Too many problems being reported now, so I'm not converting from Grand Central until I'm forced to. Plus, GC can forward calls to Canada, GoogleVoices does not. Boo!

Hi Chris,
I'm happy to say that I am "the voice" of Google Voice (and previously Grand Central).
All the best,
Laurie Burke

great to hear google's bringing it back to life.. but I've still not been able to get in to GC :(
Anyone know someone or somewhere where I can get an invite? Or should I just wait for the public beta?

Cool - I was never a GrandCentral user, but am intrigued to see this service when it comes out invite only Google feature.
