  • P.S.

DONT Forget to Clean ge Lint off the Lint Screen & WASH ur Dryer Lint Screen atleast 1 x a Month REALLY GOOD with Dish Soap & Water!!!!! • • Because Fabric Softener on the Clothes from the Washer & the Dryer Sheets Coat the Lint Screen so that Air don't Flow Thru it & COULD Cause a FIRE ! Just incase U didn't already Know. Be SAFE ! =]

  • 1 cup of Your FAV Liquid Fabric Softener to 2 Cups Water mix well & Soak a Sponge in it then Ring Out then Toss in Dryer with Laundry Load. Then just Reuse The Sponge again like Above for next Load. got this from another YouTube Vid. & it works good for me. Way Cheaper than fabric sheets.

    I actually did a 1/2 Cup Softener to 1 Cup Water =]

  • just keep reusing the same sheet until you can barely find it. i swear they last a minimum of 4 uses! (more like 6 to 10) learned that when we were young and dirt poor. and the cheapest brands are just as effective as the name brands.

  • Hi! Aliza, I use liquid fabric softener. You can control how much you want to use. Also, you can obtain dryer sheets or fabric softener at Dollar Tree. :)

  • i make vinegar during canning season from scrap fruit pieces and use the vinegar around the house to clean and add it to the washing machine about 1 cup per load as a softener

  • @moxielee The thing is that if you want to save money you automatically remove "Luxury"= Objects that make your life easier, it's just logical.

And I live in Romania. ( Please inform yourself first about my country first, until you reply about it ) Some westerners thint we are caveman lool, that's funny and annoyng sometimes.

  • @moxielee white vinegar...cheap environmentally sound.

  • white vinegar works brilliantly for fabric softener. No odour, very soft and better for the environment. As for using a tumble dryer?? ..........hmmm.......

  • How to save money, while living in luxury. Americans ha ha .

  • This isn't a frugal laundry tip. It's a very small cost saving for someone who washes in a very non-frugal way.

Try no fabric softener, cold water and a clothes line.

  • Static actually builds up in the washer not the dryer. I use 2 cups of vinegar in my wash and I don't ever have static in my dried clothes. EVER! Plus I don't want any scents to my clothing, vinegar will not leave any smell but the smell of clean fabrics/garments. And hopefully this summer I will be hanging my laundry anyway and heating for 10 mins only to soften.

  • @moxielee I live in Arizona. I do not use my dryer at all, the clotesline works if you do not put it on direct sun light. I dry mi clothes inside my home, the clothes are soft and produces a little bit of moisture inside my house being beneficial for our health in this dry weather; hope this helps.

  • great tip ... thanks

  • Just throw your clothes away and buy new ones. My laundry bill is zero!

  • I also clean the top of my washer and dryer with one of the towels I'm about to wash.

  • @misdelivery i do the same shit!

  • @misdelivery Me too. :)

  • You CAN live without dryer sheets. Is a little static such a hardship? Want to save more? Try a clothesline.

  • @kpeavey1

I don't know.. having lint all over your clothes, and having them cling to you, kinda blows. Hard.

  • @kpeavey1 - You can purchase dryer sheets for $2. It's hardly a luxury expense for the /average/ American. Yes, you can live without dryer sheets. But it's hard taking that kind of criticism seriously when you're online - a luxury in itself. We can make that argument about a lot of things we use in daily life; it's a personal preference on how you wish to spend your money. Personally, I like dryer sheets. Static + Plus skirts = constantly adjusting your skirt so no one sees your panties.

  • hay just hang your washing outside on a nice day.

  • Just hang your laundry up. Thats even more cheap!!

  • @YoungNMarried lol yes it is but the reason is because i live in a complex that shares the washers as most people do and if i get a washer or dryer that was used by someone who "smokes" lets say , the smell stays in the clothes, the washer & the dryer and the dryer sheets help get rid of the nasty stench left behind by nasty people lol

  • Another tip is to use a ball of aluminum foil instead of a dryer sheet. It can be used over and over. Doesn't smell as nice, but you never have to buy dryer sheets again, and it will cut down on the chemicals you put into your clothing.

  • i use a bounce dryer bar they last a really long time and i dont have to use my stockpile of dryer sheets at all

  • very good

  • good info. Frugality is more important now than ever.

  • Another frugal tip is to dampen a facecloth with a diluted mixture of (cheap) hair conditioner and water. Works just as well as the dryer sheets!

  • You can also buff surface scratches out of CDs, etc. with used sheets that have been reused so many times there is no softener left in them. We have also used them on fiber-optics at work.

*Practice on an old one first! AND! Do not talk on the phone while you are doing it...you may tend to 'buff' in one place too long- which is never good! ;o)

Nice video! I must check out the web site too!

  • The used dryer sheets also work great as tub and sink scrubbers. I just grab a few and get busy! Just enough abrasion to clean, but not enough to scratch & no washing of 'rags' afterwards!

  • Wow, I can't believe I never thought of this. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • damn i usually throw like 6 or 7 dryer sheets in my dryer per load... makes the clothes smell really good!

  • I've been knowing to do this for a long time, but for frugal beginners this is great info :)

  • That is such a great tip. Why didn't I think of that?

  • fantastic vid! Thanks for sharin....

  • There are quite a few ways of saving EVEN more money besides this. For one, a dryer sheet can be used 2-3 times, even AFTER cutting it in half.

save money and hang your laundry, instead of a dryer.

And you can save some, and be more earth friendly by using vinegar. Just as disinfecting as bleach, but safer, and if you use vinegar in the wash you don't need a dryer sheet at all!

This is a good simple tip though.

  • Being really frugal you wouldn't use the dryer at all.

  • lol agreed

  • This works, I've been doing this for years!

  • a goot suggestions!

  • Thanks Alyssa! Great, simple tips that would never have occurred to me!

  • I do this when I'm just about out of my dryer sheets it works well :) thanks for the tutorial with this handy advice!

  • Interesting!

I think I'll have to try that.
