I think the reason he didn't use Dai Rangers is because they still only had one female sentai in the group. I read up on this recently and found that near the end of S1 of MMPR they used up most of the Zyuranger footage so Toei shot new Zyuranger scenes exclusively for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to due to it's sheer popularity. So It really wasn't a hassle for Saban to continue on with Zyuranger suits in S2. What screwed up the show is losing half of the original team.
Sadly I dont think MMPR would have been able to pull off the DaiRanger well. In Dairanger, the stunt doubles use Wushu (chinese martial arts) It takes years to develop the muscle memory to strike those poses on instinct so it was no way they could actually do it without the fights scenes to play off that they knew the actual styles.
I think I know the reason why these suits weren't used, Saban would have to explain how Tommy got smaller than the others when stock footage of the Dairangers & Kiba Ranger were used and why his attitude suddenly changed when morphed.
I like how people say the white ranger's suit was awesome and say the other Dairanger suits were ugly when the white ranger has the same design motif as the other five. Nostalgialol.
That would have been much better if they had changed the costumes along with the zords. Only thing, that would have seemed weird is how they learned an entirely new style of fighting in such a short time
It always really bothered me that their helmets still had the designs of the old zords on them. Like, it wouldn't have made sense if they just piled on a new batch of power coins when the dino ones worked fine, but I could never get over that as a kid.
I didn't even realize suit changing was an option until Zeo. But I'm sort of glad they didn't use the Dairanger suits, because that shishi zord is NOT GREEN. Seriously, Dragonzord is more green than that.
If they stuck with those suits (which look awesome by the way) then the controversy of Zach being the Black Ranger would have thankfully been put to an end! The problem with Trini would've remained though.

How they got away with making Tommy the red ranger in the same season they expanded his background to include Jason David Frank's native American heritage, however, I'll never understand.

The ironic thing is that Saban was so close to using these costumes for season 2 but he said the old costumes were still very popular with kids and the toys were selling well so he decided against changing the costumes

Fighting styles would be different from before (each Ranger has their own form of Martial arts) Trini would fit perfectly since she know kung fu (which is what the DaiRangers study). Several weapons back then weren't even allowed to be show in certain countries (remember the old Turtles cartoon, they had to change Michelangelo's for that reason). DaiRanger Yellow is also alittle to buff for a "good match" with Trini. Other then that, DaiRanger would have been good to see. Nice job on the Video.
@tigreduster it would have been better using dai ranger footage rather then mmpr footage for this season. it would have been great rather then that half assed mmpr remastered which was considered season 17 last year. the only reason i was glad it was remastered was so i can buy my own megazord. i always wanted that when i was a child and that was back in 1994.
@sngiggles there was no Black Ranger in Dairanger. Green and Black are interchangeable; you rarely see Green and Black in the same series (except for Go-Onger/ Power Rangers RPM).With new powers would come new colors.
It's not gonna be hard for Saban to do Gokaiger, all they have to do is reshoot all the scenes when Sentais appear that weren't Rangers. They shot pretty much all of the In Space and Lost Galaxy fights because they created their own "foot soldiers" so to speak, nothing is impossible if you have an imagination and some creativity.

@saiyinfox Yeah, especially since the Thunderzord switch didn't hurt merchandise sales, and since they had bought in Tommy in Dairanger garb and three of the originals were leaving. It would've been a hell of a lot easier just to take that chance to change the powers.
However, I think that because they underestimated the shows popularity at first, the toys had only just hit the shelves, and they were worried a massive overhaul might damage it's sales. Probably more trouble than it was worth tho

@BluntmanEXE We most likely won't see a Gokaiger adaption. It's pretty much impossible. That's why Saban has chosen to run Samurai for two seasons, so that Goseiger can be adapted next, in 2013, followed by whichever series comes after Gokaiger in 2014.
@HypnoSwag Is this set in stone? Some fans are calling the "two season" deal a rumor. I can see how Gokaiger is impossible to adapt unless Saban comes up with an original theme like he did with "In Space." But the action footage wouldn't be feasible.

@BluntmanEXE Saban is NOT & will never do Gokaiger. He is planing on keeping the Samurai team for a good 2 maybe 3 years before they move onto the next theme of rangers. He is really doing good promoting the power rangers though he sends off suited Samurai people to hospitals, charity events,parades, and even visit kids at there schools. That is something Disney never did or took the time to even consider.
@ItsFlapJack Just because the contract for Samurai got extended doesn't mean they're not gonna do Gokaiger. Hell, there have been rumors flying that their Goseiger adaption (currently named Power Rangers Vanguard) is already in the works. My guess is that the reason they extended it was so they could save Gokaiger for the 20th anniversary.

Everyone on here saying they should have changed the suits, I don't agree at all. Power Rangers was at its best throughout MMPR when they used the Zyuranger suits. The suit change was cool in Zeo but unnecessary for every season afterwards. They should have really used the Zeo suits for two seasons instead of one but whatever. If they did In Space for two seasons it would have been the better option too. Just saying.
@jlenoconel if that was the case then they would have to spend a fortune on shooting new footage. It's just cheaper to go with the stock footage from the sentai version.

There are two popular theorized reasons as to why the Dairangers suits were not used:
1. The Dairanger footage itself. Apart from it being a bit more violent than the usual Sentai fare, there's Kirin Ranger (Yellow) using Drunken Fist.
2. They felt that to change the suits abruptly would be a bomb for ratings. Since MMPR's ratings were at a huge peak, they couldn't change the suits. They only changed them in Zeo due to budget problems and declining ratings.
@nepomusik Man if the show was at the hieght of its popularity then its the perfect time to change suits. Because thats only going to bring in more merchandise revenue.Helloo CH CHING. PLUSSSS. @Planetvideogame I don't think that's the only reason. The Dairangers all look to be shorter, and the costume design is lacking. Even if you think they look cool, do you know how hard it would be to keep the white part of that suit white, when the chest is where everyone kicks?
And, anyways, they didn't film their own footage very often. They payed the original Japanese people to do it. That's why them being shorter matters.

Not to mention odd that they would suddenly change Zords without changing suits for the new season.
Why couldn't they just the Dairanger suits. They could have made them a power up. When Zordon gave Tommy the White Ranger powers, he should have said,"I also upgraded your powers so you can become Thunder Rangers"

Yeah. I'm mad at Saban for not using the DaiRanger suits. As for the KakuRanger suits, I wish they'd have used them throughout the third season instead of in just the last 10 episodes.
I think if they would have changed the suites Power Rangers popularity would have dropped tremendously. Only one year into the sires was way too soon to make such a change. So although season two (IMO) was weaker then the first, the correct choice was made by the producers to keep the Zyuranger suits.
Cound't they just change the helmets and keep the old suits? Though the helmets should match with their suits. Otherwise you have a black ranger with a green helmet:P

@HypnoSwag Is this set in stone? Some fans are calling the "two season" deal a rumor. I can see how Gokaiger is impossible to adapt unless Saban comes up with an original theme like he did with "In Space." But the action footage wouldn't be feasible.

@SpartanForgeWorld300 Well, that'd work for all the other past teams, but think about it. Saban used the Zord footage and Kibaranger footage for Season 2 of MMPR. If they include Dairanger in the Gokaiger adaption, they're gonna have to explain why they have the EXACT SAME Zords as the Mighty Morphers, as well as another White Ranger.

My bad, I thought Saban did the remastered ones. I don't understand why Saban didn't add a red candle to the "Missing Green" episode, LET them lose their powers and use that as a means to introduce the Dairainger suits though.

@BluntmanEXE Saban is NOT & will never do Gokaiger. He is planing on keeping the Samurai team for a good 2 maybe 3 years before they move onto the next theme of rangers. He is really doing good promoting the power rangers though he sends off suited Samurai people to hospitals, charity events,parades, and even visit kids at there schools. That is something Disney never did or took the time to even consider.

@ItsFlapJack Just because the contract for Samurai got extended doesn't mean they're not gonna do Gokaiger. Hell, there have been rumors flying that their Goseiger adaption (currently named Power Rangers Vanguard) is already in the works. My guess is that the reason they extended it was so they could save Gokaiger for the 20th anniversary.

Man those suits are ugly. I've never watched the sentai, but seriously, I am really glad they stuck with the Mighty Morphin suits, save for Tommy.

@SonicStantz Then White Rangers was just as ugly, not too mention looked extremely out of place among the Zyuranger suits since it looks nothing like them. And every kid back in 1994 was confused as to why there suits (and colors in Zack's case) don't match they're Zords.

Everyone on here saying they should have changed the suits, I don't agree at all. Power Rangers was at its best throughout MMPR when they used the Zyuranger suits. The suit change was cool in Zeo but unnecessary for every season afterwards. They should have really used the Zeo suits for two seasons instead of one but whatever. If they did In Space for two seasons it would have been the better option too. Just saying.

MAN I wish they could have went with the Dairanger suits I may get a lot of heat for saying this but I think Jason as the red dragon ranger is much better than Tommy as the green dragon ranger.Think about if they went with the dairangers suits they could have use more of the footage.

EVEN IF THEY DID USE THE DAIRANGER SUITS TEAMUPS WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE SO ITS MUCH BETTER TO GO WITH A NEW TEAM EVERY SEASON. I STILL THINK THEY SHOULDVE USED THE ORIGINAL ZORDS WITH ZYU2 FOOTAGE AND ENDED IT AND STARTED DAIRANGER AS A SEPARATE SEASON LIKE I SAY IN EVERY VIDEO. MAYBE LIKE TURBO MIDCHANGE. There are two popular theorized reasons as to why the Dairangers suits were not used:
1. The Dairanger footage itself. Apart from it being a bit more violent than the usual Sentai fare, there's Kirin Ranger (Yellow) using Drunken Fist.
2. They felt that to change the suits abruptly would be a bomb for ratings. Since MMPR's ratings were at a huge peak, they couldn't change the suits. They only changed them in Zeo due to budget problems and declining ratings.

@Planetvideogame I don't think that's the only reason. The Dairangers all look to be shorter, and the costume design is lacking. Even if you think they look cool, do you know how hard it would be to keep the white part of that suit white, when the chest is where everyone kicks?
And, anyways, they didn't film their own footage very often. They payed the original Japanese people to do it. That's why them being shorter matters.

@6t9dieselgino6t9 Even when I was little I found it strange that the White Ranger suit had such a different design than the others, and that it didn't have prehistoric animal theme to it like the others. Not to mention odd that they would suddenly change Zords without changing suits for the new season.

very well done man. Sometimes I do wish they would have changed the suits to fit their zords...but it probably helped keep continuity for me when I was 6 lol. I remember always wondering what it would of been like if green ranger had a thunderzord instead of turning white...now I know why they couldnt do it ;)

Yeah. I'm mad at Saban for not using the DaiRanger suits. As for the KakuRanger suits, I wish they'd have used them throughout the third season instead of in just the last 10 episodes.

I think if they would have changed the suites Power Rangers popularity would have dropped tremendously. Only one year into the sires was way too soon to make such a change. So although season two (IMO) was weaker then the first, the correct choice was made by the producers to keep the Zyuranger suits.
