@EctoplasmHD Although this is not nearly as useful as Etho's solar sensor, solar sensors are useful for more than lighting. I have a house with a grid of modified sensors, which work better than etho's sensors (although I used etho's great idea as a base). I use these sensors for all sorts of things; drawbridges raise at night, shudders close, skylights seal with iron, and lights come out, all automatically. This is all obvious stuff, I am sure there are tons of other uses.

Interesting idea. So you could have it attached to a redstone signal AND a piston, which moves and allows the next one to have light...for as many of these as you set up, so it could detect as many days as you have supplies for. That would only need reset after however many days you made it last.(Granted, you'd have to delay the piston activating by a whole minecraft day, but if you did that somehow (with a minecart?) this would work).

to reset the mushroom auromatically, u can place 4 of them in diagonal (under the pressur pads), but i know that mushroom spawning is very long and random so u can make an output that is relied to another solar detector that will be triggered the next day and so on until it gives enought time for the first mushroom that popped to diseapear. i know that u'll need to make a lot of them but that would be very nice (btw the usage of pistons and a lot of delayers will surely be necessary)
