@TherealRNO actually there there are 2 verses of the hip hop theme: the 1st one from 2007-2008 (the one you're thinking of), and the 2nd one: the chalks from 2009-
Most people don't like it? Excuse me but where did you get that idea? Anyone who grew up in the 90's would like this intro unless there was something wrong with them. That's a lot of people so yeah a lot of people like this intro.
@Miketheyoutubization based on my calculations, there were six seasons (1992-1998) that had the calypsobeat intro and each season had 130 episodes so that would make 780 episodes.
My little cousin was watching Sesame Street today. It was the first time I had seen it in a long time. I know it's not targeted towards my audience but the new format really sucks compared to 13+ years ago. They barely showed any of the other characters while only focusing on Elmo. And also much of the adult characters do not appear before the segments; it's only this new muppet saying what's coming up next
When I grew up, there was no Elmo... When I was a teenager, they had some big dog named Barkley... It kind of pisses me off, cause my little niece adores Elmo, and Big Bird and Snuffy got the shaft. And when did they come up with a FEMALE count (countess??). Boy, you grow up, turn your back for just 30 years--and they screw up Sesame Street.
Personally I think the new Sesame is pretty great, Snuffy and Big Bird get PLENTY of face time, in fact on the 1993 tv special How Elmo Saved Chistmas even though Elmo is the title charachter Big Bird and Snuffy get atleast a solid 1/3 of the time devoted to them and Big Bird gets his own song and dance. The countess was just a one shot character, she isn't a regular so don't worry. Barkley's still around, bt he was Linda's dog & since she's gone its sort of hard to cram him into the plot.
Anyway, Grover isn't around *quite* as much as he used to b/c he was a charachter whose personality really came from performer Frank Oz more than anywhere else, and he went out & got himself a fancy grownup job as a bigtime film director and Grover's been recently recast. The newguy is great but he's still new Give him a year or two. Elmo can actually be kinda cute, track down the episode when Zoe gets a pet rock & he gets all frustrated, hes too cute when he's angry =)
last installment I swear (this 500 word limit is killing me, you can't limit words for muppet fangeeks! ]:( )...
The newer charachters arent that bad, and There's always room for new neighbors on Sesame Street. The only thing I don't like is that Disney won't let them use Kermit as of their purchase of the classic Muppets in the year 2004. Them's the breaks I suppose... :)
Yeah, recently Big Bird and Snuffy got a decent amount of face time in Season 39. But in Season 38, Snuffy appeared in only ONE street story (which was with Elmo, not Big Bird for some odd reason), and Big Bird was only like in 5 episodes. It's all a bunch of mess to me. If Elmo can appear in EVERY episode, then Big Bird, Snuffy, and EVERYONE on Sesame Street should be able too. Point is: Sesame Street shouldn't revolve just around one character. It's SESAME STREET, not Elmo's World.
Tell that to Kevin Clash, Elmo's performer. He's the director of the show now and since the new kids cannot live without Elmo hogging the spotlight--especially for the last 15 minutes of the show--he has to give them what they want.
I know, but that was probably before they cam up with this idea with making it with Muppets. And they got rid of The Furry Arms Hotel in that new season premiere with "Elmo's World".
Grover and Prairie Dawn are two of my very favorite characters; I don't mind Natasha, but how do you replace in the intro, those two great characters that have been on Sesame Street forever?
The ironic thing is, little Natasha isn't very popular anymore it seems! She doesn't appear ANYWHERE in the current Sesame Street intro. She must've been eclipsed in popularity by Elmo, Baby Bear and Abby Cadabby
If I remember right, Natasha was prominent in the mid/late 80s but then dropped out of sight for a few years until the mid 90s, when she suddenly became prominent again (and acquired parents that had never existed before). And now she's gone again. That's Sesame Street for you----and also, come to think of it, many long-running series with large ensemble casts.
Hey I love it Natasha is so Very Cute!! It was a well right change. I'm sure they changed back to where it was varied from episode. but this is the one I like!!
I'm one of the ones that actually likes this. I still wish they'd never changed the original to begin with, but things being what they are, this is nice in its own way.
It's still the second longest-lasting. The first lasted 22 years, this one lasted 6 years, the third lasted 4 years, and the fourth lasted 5 years. As for the brand-new one, who knows...
I find it interesting that in their 20 years, they didn't change it once, but during their second 20, they've changed it 4 times!
This is the one I grew up with! It's so nostalgic it makes me wanna cry!!!
