  • This is the one I grew up with! It's so nostalgic it makes me wanna cry!!!

  • I love this intro, my fav

  • Chimes; children (sometimes big bird)

    Calyspo; multiple children and muppets

    Park; Big bird with children

Blocks; Big bird and children chasing blocks that bounce

Folding; a cityscape with children and muppets

Chalk; children making drawing from chalk that come alive, multiple muppets

  • 4 people aren't sexy

  • @TherealRNO actually there there are 2 verses of the hip hop theme: the 1st one from 2007-2008 (the one you're thinking of), and the 2nd one: the chalks from 2009-

  • best intros in no order:

    blocks/pop 2002-2006

    pop/country 1998-2001

    chimes 1969- 1991

    calypso beat 1992-1997/1998

    chalk/hip hop 2009- Present

  • @arcticfox6428: Actually the recent version began in 2007. But still...

  • best intros in no oder: chimes 1969-1991

    blocks/pop 2002-2006

    pop/country 1998-2001

    chalk/hip hop 2009- Present

  • This gave me chills. Takes me back to the 90's.

  • Sesame Street - Intro (1995-1998)

  • Most people don't like it? Excuse me but where did you get that idea? Anyone who grew up in the 90's would like this intro unless there was something wrong with them. That's a lot of people so yeah a lot of people like this intro.

  • How many episodes has the Calypsobeat Intro will it be 34 episodes? Does 3529 have the Calypsobeat?

  • @Miketheyoutubization based on my calculations, there were six seasons (1992-1998) that had the calypsobeat intro and each season had 130 episodes so that would make 780 episodes.

  • HI! BYE!

  • My little cousin was watching Sesame Street today. It was the first time I had seen it in a long time. I know it's not targeted towards my audience but the new format really sucks compared to 13+ years ago. They barely showed any of the other characters while only focusing on Elmo. And also much of the adult characters do not appear before the segments; it's only this new muppet saying what's coming up next

  • This theme was what I grew up with, when they changed it, the clouds that were kept away by the sunny days, came back.

  • technically u do hav the episode 4 this intro, they always show the episode number in the opening credits

  • THIS is the Sesame theme I grew up with! It's my fave! Except I prefer it Grover & Prarie Dawn.

  • So this is around the corner then

  • YEAH!

  • You do have the episode for this intro.

    episode 3480

  • @CTWPokeStreet

This episode aired March 15, 1996.

  • Yep. i remember this too. Not a favorite memory but I would rather have kids see this than the bull crap that is on TV now.

  • RIP Calypsobeat Intro

    November 9, 1992 - November 13, 1998

  • @TravisTarlton Don't you mean from November 9, 1992-November 15, 1998?

  • This is definitely the opening I remember best.

  • Just as good as the one with Grover and Prairie Dawn. But I still like that version.

    ;-)

Isn't Natasha cute or what? I loved her when I was little.

  • Me too

  • IHeartAaronLazar: Sesame Street age? You could not be too old for 123 Sesame, despite knowing that you're not the target audience anymore.

  • The Sesame Street Seasons Go As Follow:

    Season 27: (1995-1996)

    Season 28: (1996-1997)

    & Season 29: (1997-1998)

  • @Screech1920 Those were the seasons to have the 2nd Calypsobeat intro.

  • I'm the kid all the way to the right running! lolz memories =)

  • This video makes me realise how great my childhood was.

  • Sesame Street on ABC TV in Australia!

  • Elmo is cool but I don't think he needs his own 15 minutes at the end of every show.

  • OMG. I havent' seen this in year. It loks lie kit's from 1997. and I was like 5

  • When I grew up, there was no Elmo... When I was a teenager, they had some big dog named Barkley... It kind of pisses me off, cause my little niece adores Elmo, and Big Bird and Snuffy got the shaft. And when did they come up with a FEMALE count (countess??). Boy, you grow up, turn your back for just 30 years--and they screw up Sesame Street.

    : )

  • true

  • Personally I think the new Sesame is pretty great, Snuffy and Big Bird get PLENTY of face time, in fact on the 1993 tv special How Elmo Saved Chistmas even though Elmo is the title charachter Big Bird and Snuffy get atleast a solid 1/3 of the time devoted to them and Big Bird gets his own song and dance. The countess was just a one shot character, she isn't a regular so don't worry. Barkley's still around, bt he was Linda's dog & since she's gone its sort of hard to cram him into the plot.

  • stupid 500 word limit...

Anyway, Grover isn't around *quite* as much as he used to b/c he was a charachter whose personality really came from performer Frank Oz more than anywhere else, and he went out & got himself a fancy grownup job as a bigtime film director and Grover's been recently recast. The newguy is great but he's still new Give him a year or two. Elmo can actually be kinda cute, track down the episode when Zoe gets a pet rock & he gets all frustrated, hes too cute when he's angry =)

  • last installment I swear (this 500 word limit is killing me, you can't limit words for muppet fangeeks! ]:( )...

The newer charachters arent that bad, and There's always room for new neighbors on Sesame Street. The only thing I don't like is that Disney won't let them use Kermit as of their purchase of the classic Muppets in the year 2004. Them's the breaks I suppose... :)

  • @Gabrielle261

Yeah, I love those Rocko episodes because Elmo gets to show another side of himself. He just has NO tolerance for that rock.

  • @Marbles471: Meh, he's just jealous that Zoe seems to care about a rock than him.

  • Yeah, recently Big Bird and Snuffy got a decent amount of face time in Season 39. But in Season 38, Snuffy appeared in only ONE street story (which was with Elmo, not Big Bird for some odd reason), and Big Bird was only like in 5 episodes. It's all a bunch of mess to me. If Elmo can appear in EVERY episode, then Big Bird, Snuffy, and EVERYONE on Sesame Street should be able too. Point is: Sesame Street shouldn't revolve just around one character. It's SESAME STREET, not Elmo's World.

  • "It's SESAME STREET, not Elmo's World."

Tell that to Kevin Clash, Elmo's performer. He's the director of the show now and since the new kids cannot live without Elmo hogging the spotlight--especially for the last 15 minutes of the show--he has to give them what they want.

  • @MathewRusso

Actually, the Countess has been around since sometime in the 70s. She's always been a very minor character, though.

  • Calypsobeat

  • savion94: Keep in mind that that's the way the intro had always been for 23 years BEFORE this one, too. (with kids and no Muppets, that is.)

  • I know, but that was probably before they cam up with this idea with making it with Muppets. And they got rid of The Furry Arms Hotel in that new season premiere with "Elmo's World".

  • Marbles471: Yeah, but remember...the 80's and earlier where when Jim and Richard were still with us.

  • Right. Don't you like this intro better?

  • savion: Well, I prefer the original (as a child of the 80's, I prefer the classics), but this is an improvement over the current one.

  • What about the one from 1998-2003 intro.

  • savion94: Too short.

  • Huh?

  • savion94: The opening for 1998-2003 was too short for my tastes.

  • I thought it sounded too flat.

  • @TherealRNO No, it's from 1998-2002.

  • @savion94 It's 1998-2002.

  • Fragment./ good morning .best years in my life. the 1990's. 60,422.

  • OMG I remember this intro when I was younger and man this brings back memories! :D

  • We didn't get this intro in Australia until quite some years later.

  • most people dont like this? y not?

  • That just isn't as good as the other 1992-1998intro. Just don't like it much. *shrug*

  • Zoe, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Count, Natasha, Elmo, Ernie and Bert, Telly.

I Love this one so much. I wish they returned to the past from the 90's. I hate sesame street today. all of that computer animatetion. 49,412.

  • I Love this intro. Best one ever.

  • When I watch it now, it is funny!!!

  • I know this!

  • This is the intro I grew up with. Best song!

  • I'd just like you put the sesame street friday credits in 1998

  • Put them in the dryer. Natasha is very cute.

I Love this one better 31,325.

    Right? E

  • I'm guessing that this is the 1995-1998 Version. Don't you think?

  • Yes! You are correct. I check Muppet Wiki and that is when they have this kind of intro.

  • It was and I Love this intro better than any other ones. and Zoe and Natasha r cute. Natasha looks so cute on the track.

  • Natasha and zoe are so cuite. I Love this one, 2.

  • Grover and Prairie Dawn are two of my very favorite characters; I don't mind Natasha, but how do you replace in the intro, those two great characters that have been on Sesame Street forever?

  • carrie: For the same reason they hip-hopped the theme currently and focus solely on Elmo, Zoe, "Baby" Bear, Telly, and Abby.

  • The ironic thing is, little Natasha isn't very popular anymore it seems! She doesn't appear ANYWHERE in the current Sesame Street intro. She must've been eclipsed in popularity by Elmo, Baby Bear and Abby Cadabby

  • wilek: Everyone and their dog's grandma was elipsed by them...Big Bird, Snuffy, Cookie, Oscar, Ernie, Bert, Grover...you name it.

  • @wilek209

If I remember right, Natasha was prominent in the mid/late 80s but then dropped out of sight for a few years until the mid 90s, when she suddenly became prominent again (and acquired parents that had never existed before). And now she's gone again. That's Sesame Street for you----and also, come to think of it, many long-running series with large ensemble casts.

  • zoe wuz 1 of my fave characters back when i used 2 watch this show. :)

  • Ha, I remember this one from when I was maybe 3-4 years old.

  • I wonder why people don't like this opening very much.

  • Hey I love it Natasha is so Very Cute!! It was a well right change. I'm sure they changed back to where it was varied from episode. but this is the one I like!!

  • This is my fav intro. I love it so much.

  • Wow, this is a long time since I saw this! I think they started this intro when I was born-1993. But anyway, here's to YouTube!

  • one of my favortie intros, but I perfer the one with Grover and Prairie Dawn :)

  • @teenangel93 Same for me ;-). That 's the opening I remember watching (plus the one with Grover and Prairie Dawn)

  • I'm one of the ones that actually likes this. I still wish they'd never changed the original to begin with, but things being what they are, this is nice in its own way.

It's still the second longest-lasting. The first lasted 22 years, this one lasted 6 years, the third lasted 4 years, and the fourth lasted 5 years. As for the brand-new one, who knows...

I find it interesting that in their 20 years, they didn't change it once, but during their second 20, they've changed it 4 times!

  • Huh. And to respond to my own comment of two years ago, make that 5 times now.
