agree, it's so sad. I was so excited when he went to Miami, then... sigh... what a waste. they shouldve asigned him a babysitter (and mental health professional), we knew it was bound to happen.
I'm with mikehicks83. For truths sake I am going change "chumps" to assbeaters, and then you may mentally exchange it for whatever you like. If you seriously thought the other 10 were chumps, it's only because Cecil was that devastating. Anywho, sup mike.
15 years does seem pretty excessive for not having any violent offenses. Guess it was some sort of repeat offender deal. Guy just needed a teddy bear!
No, truthfully he was some kind of predator. His deviant behavior was getting worse. He was a repeat offender. I loved him as a player, but we just can't have guys like this running around within society.
@RomMechEng FUCK U U PREDATOR DICK SUCKER WAT ABOUT THE BOYS WHO KILLED THE LITTLE BLACK GIRL IN THAT PUBLIC BATHROOMAND GOT OFF WITH A WARNING WAT U GOT 2 SAY ABOUT DAT.
Man Cecil was an awesome player. One Shoe!?!? He torched that cornerback with one shoe! He just didn't have a good head on his shoulder. I know old timers that have been watching LSU football for 50 years and they still say he was the best running back the Tigers ever had. He was leading the nation in rushing before he broke his leg during his Soph year. He never played again for the Tigers. Sad story.
I played for Marksville from 94 to 97 and I got a chance to play against Cecil. He was an incredible player. I also played against Anthony Thomas from Winnfield. These were the best RB's during that period but in my oppinion Cecil was better. A-Train was a beast, but the Diesel was a special player.
Actually an understatement IMO. Cecil was hands-down the most incredible football player I've ever seen in my life. Remember, the times were K. Faulk at RB, Herb Tyler at QB, and DiNardo was running the FRIGGIN WB! It never really came to pass, having CC and KF in the backfield at the same time due to injuries to both, but MAN!! Cecil had Faulks speed and moves, but was strong enough to just blow you up, too. Helluva talent that will not be seen again in our fair state for a long time.
JenkBigQ, I am from Leesville and played for the Wampus Cats. Kept up with LHS and can tell you your cousin could play. I fault the people around him for not seeking help for this guy b/c obvious he was mentally ill. Not stupid, so don't listen to fans putting all this bs here. Take it from the people that knew him.
wow thats crazy 2 top flight runningbacks from leesville in a decade (Cecil Collins & Micheal Ford) wut do yall eat down there? i mean im from denham springs ( 2 miles from baton rouge) so i kno la talent but producing those kind of backs in that short amount of time from one city? crazy
Sad story indeed, I played with the Diesel in high school, "freshmen", Coach Smith along with the school failed this young man, he needed help badly. I miss watching the MOFO...LV
Bigteddystyle98 I'm sure you made mistakes in life and may make more. Ease up on some of the comments b/c Cecil has family and kids that may look him up. Thanks
I respect your comment...but come on now. I don't think the mistakes I've made (like forgetting to study for that Finance test, or ordering salmon when I really wanted the steak) can be honestly compared to 1) A forced entry arrest; 2) an illegal dwelling entry arrest; 3) a drug bust; and 4) being sentenced to 15 years in prison for burglary. If this guy actually had the audacity to bring children into this world then, frankly, I respect him even less.
I was at his last game in high school: Championship game in the Superdome for Leesville High. Without a doubt, the single most distructive player I have ever, EVER seen. It was Cecil and 10 chumps playing against an entire team of quality players...and he DESTROYED them. It was truly awesome to witness. Then he threw everything away. He is the Earl Manigault of football (Google it)
Cecil was a monster RB no doubt, but in that championship game that you're referring, if I'm not mistaken, Salmen beat them(1995)?? with another fine louisiana running back Duane Woods who in the game before bested the almighy John Curtis Pats at John Curtis with two long 2nd half TD's to seal the game...great years of high school football no doubt, I remember though that he and Woods were the two top guys and all I kept hearing was this guy called "the Deisel"
Cecil went over 3,000 for the season in that game against Salmen, but it wasn't even close to his best performance ever(finished with 81 on the ground). And we had a ton of talent on the other side of the ball that year too. I would hardly call his teammates "chumps".
Cecil still being in jail is an abuse of the justice system. I worked as a Probation Officer, i have seen far far worse people do far less time. He needs to be freed
The Diesel was one of the most talented RB I've ever seen in my lifetime(28 years), so big and so fast and shifty. I agree he was one of the biggest wastes of talent ever maybe.
I have that 1997 lsu vs auburn game on tape. After watching that I thought this guy was gonna be a hall of famer.Too bad he was a bonehead that couldnt keep his head on straight
Wow, kid was a straight beast. But watch out for 2009 Running back Mike Ford. He's from Leesville as well. He's every bit as good as The diesel minus the behavior problems. He's already 6'0" 205 pounds with 4.5 speed and can bench press 315 pounds 6 times. He's a freak. He'll be better than Cecil. Hopefully, he'll be a tiger.
Mike Ford is good and will probably be a 5 star next year, but you are crazy if you think he is better than Cecil. Cecil Collins may very well be the best back in Louisiana history. Dude was in a league of his own physically.
I've heard a lot of about Ford, but haven't seen him play. But I've seen Cecil play, and to say that Ford will be better than Cecil in terms of performance on the field is a mighty bold statement. Cecil didn't "play" football. Cecil ran people's asses over. And if you had strong enough fingers, he would drag you down the field.
I don't understand how this dude is SUPPOSED to be one of the greatest ever when he played 4 COLLEGE GAMES. AND DIDN"T DO SHIT IN THE LEAGUE.
Don't get me wrong I respect the "one of the best talents" BUT gimme a fucking break
