Man Cecil was an awesome player. One Shoe!?!? He torched that cornerback with one shoe! He just didn't have a good head on his shoulder. I know old timers that have been watching LSU football for 50 years and they still say he was the best running back the Tigers ever had. He was leading the nation in rushing before he broke his leg during his Soph year. He never played again for the Tigers. Sad story.

I played for Marksville from 94 to 97 and I got a chance to play against Cecil. He was an incredible player. I also played against Anthony Thomas from Winnfield. These were the best RB's during that period but in my oppinion Cecil was better. A-Train was a beast, but the Diesel was a special player.

Actually an understatement IMO. Cecil was hands-down the most incredible football player I've ever seen in my life. Remember, the times were K. Faulk at RB, Herb Tyler at QB, and DiNardo was running the FRIGGIN WB! It never really came to pass, having CC and KF in the backfield at the same time due to injuries to both, but MAN!! Cecil had Faulks speed and moves, but was strong enough to just blow you up, too. Helluva talent that will not be seen again in our fair state for a long time.

I respect your comment...but come on now. I don't think the mistakes I've made (like forgetting to study for that Finance test, or ordering salmon when I really wanted the steak) can be honestly compared to 1) A forced entry arrest; 2) an illegal dwelling entry arrest; 3) a drug bust; and 4) being sentenced to 15 years in prison for burglary. If this guy actually had the audacity to bring children into this world then, frankly, I respect him even less.

I was at his last game in high school: Championship game in the Superdome for Leesville High. Without a doubt, the single most distructive player I have ever, EVER seen. It was Cecil and 10 chumps playing against an entire team of quality players...and he DESTROYED them. It was truly awesome to witness. Then he threw everything away. Cecil was a monster RB no doubt, but in that championship game that you're referring, if I'm not mistaken, Salmen beat them(1995)?? with another fine louisiana running back Duane Woods who in the game before bested the almighy John Curtis Pats at John Curtis with two long 2nd half TD's to seal the game...great years of high school football no doubt, I remember though that he and Woods were the two top guys and all I kept hearing was this guy called "the Deisel"

Cecil went over 3,000 for the season in that game against Salmen, but it wasn't even close to his best performance ever(finished with 81 on the ground). And we had a ton of talent on the other side of the ball that year too. I would hardly call his teammates "chumps".

Wow, kid was a straight beast. But watch out for 2009 Running back Mike Ford. He's from Leesville as well. He's every bit as good as The diesel minus the behavior problems. He's already 6'0" 205 pounds with 4.5 speed and can bench press 315 pounds 6 times. He's a freak. He'll be better than Cecil. Hopefully, he'll be a tiger.

I've heard a lot of about Ford, but haven't seen him play. But I've seen Cecil play, and to say that Ford will be better than Cecil in terms of performance on the field is a mighty bold statement. Cecil didn't "play" football. Cecil ran people's asses over. And if you had strong enough fingers, he would drag you down the field.
