  • Wouldnt it be nice to have this and an Octatrack rocking in parallel? Maybe if i hit the lottery one day lol

  • REFX do a cool emulation of this called QuadraSIDD, Timbalnd used the patch in WAYO-TECH-50cent

  • @digiwoo QuadraSID is fine, but it's nothing in comparison with the original

  • SID rocked! I loved my multish tasking C64. Commodore got so many things right and the other stuff wrong the hippies. Miss you commodore

  • I dig it man.

    I want one.

  • i've got an analogue erection now...

  • @cuntymash it's not even analog........

  • @boisbrut Wrong. The SID chip has technically both analog and digital - believe it or not. ;)

  • @crabber338

I would like to learn more about how the SID is both Analog and Digital...... could you perhaps link me to a page describing the different parts both digital and analog.... I love the SID and would LOVE to learn what parts exactly are digital and what parts are analog

  • @KaslarProductions

It's quite simple, the oscillators are digital, the control circuitry is all digital and register based. The filter is the analog bit, but that is a bit flawed but you can't really expect much for a sound chip designed in a hurry for a computer in 1981 or so. It's still better than any other "synth" chip in a home computer. By that I mean a chip using oscillators, not samples.

  • well that doesn't work considering I'm pretty sure it's digital lol

  • Sorry, I don't get it at all...............

  • That, thru a sherman filterbank and you got the rawest thing out there !!

  • well it's not a virus! It's a fucking SID chip! It sounds exactly like it's supposed to!

  • @Biopharmer: You mean like crap? Well, if you prefer that, good for you. I prefer good music though.

  • @Biopharmer well said

  • The full potential of the SID chip isnt shown here.

Check some newer C64 demos and see what I'm talking about.

  • watch what you say, Machinae Supremacy uses SID chips.

  • You'd think they would still offer the service to people that could provide SID's themselves. You know, people that still have a C64 in the closet...

    just a thought

  • could you make a video showing all the patches of the sidstation, please?

  • They should just start making them again because I'm sure there is a pretty good demand for them still.

  • They can't. There's no more NOS Sid chips to make them with. In order to make them, they'd have to start buying C64's and gutting them for chips, which would just make them cost more than they already do due to the labor involved in that. If you're looking for the SID sound and have access to an old Commodore 64, there are plenty of DIY projects out there.

  • There are definitely still rumors that Elektron has some more lying around and is just sitting on them to do a rerelease at even higher prices. Every issue so far has sold out quickly, and then eventually been followed by another final release. There's really no way to tell how many SID chips they actually bought.

  • Okay, so let me just run this by you from somebody else's words so that you understand just how retarded this sounds: Elektron admits that it has no more SID chips and in fact MOS Tech admits that it does not manufacture them anymore. Yet somehow, there's this big conspiracy on the part of Elektron to devalue the current Sid Stations and make a profit by releasing them again in the future with this stockpile of discarded chips. See how stupid that sounds?

  • wow aren't they ouber expensive? =|

  • now they are, cos nobody gots a sid

  • I want a sidstation they are the bees kness.

  • omfgs0001337! Machinae Supremacy!

  • sweet
