[[the father curses out the son then says something along the lines of, "i dont know what came over me." allow the father to stay in character. its a stronger statement. also, if the stylization was a key factor in the making of the film, then keep in mind there wouldn't be a laughing reel over the entire film, just the 1950s part. that would've helped too. otherwise, a really great film, awesome costuming and set design, and an interesting and witty concept used to exploit a real message. kudos
overall pretty good. some things, like the oral sex, were effective enough through implication. acting it out took it to a level of raunchy comedy that speaks to a different audience than the subject matter. imo. as far as the audience, ehh. it cues the audience in and doesnt allow us to decide for ourselves what the comedic irony of the situation. lastly, rather than have the adults revert back to the 50's style of speech, let them stay in present day character
thumbs up people! reminds me to be carefull with going in debt for cunsumer products (as opposed to for buying a house). In North America it seems to be a way of life, in Europe it was rare until a few years ago... it is actually pretty scarry...
Hey "VoteRepublicans", maybe you need to give it a second viewing. This movie is against bail outs which was Dem. legislation. It also seems to be against high taxes which is also usually stamped Democrat. Yes, it also bashes the Republicans, but it is HARDLY "Liberal Propaganda!" ... Want to see some propaganda? re read your own comment...
No. This is an attack on the American system. The only flaw is the money has Bush on the bills. Bush was responsible for the first two bailouts- the Tax Rebate of $800, and then the huge TARP. He has since stated he regrets making that decision. A decision made on false information that without the bailout, America would fall into the worst depression ever. And Obama is now like that crook who enters a store after someone already broke in. America hasn't seen the worst yet. Just wait & see.
What phony propaganda! Looks like "redandtan" is another bleeding-heart liberal, blindly throwing their "Hollywood" support behind any Democratic policy it can find.
My favorite line is "Hell yeah baby, I'll take your sloppy seconds any day." So is she a slut or just a powerful woman? And what of her whoring mother? Dirty.
This film puts everyone on the butchering block. No one is left to spare. You have the government misdiagnosing the problem, you have institutions that are leaning on people to get into unsound financial decisions and you have people who are not informing themselves enough to make the best decisions for them. Everyone can talk about big government and small government, what they didn't do and what they should have done - but at the end of the day what happened to personal responsibility?
Schmazing, you hit the nail on the head. Except the Americans aren't just complacent. They are just plain slow-witted and very far from reality. Watch the Food Network and then turn to 24/7 Haiti coverage on CNN. Then you can start to get it. Americans are like a bunch of dumb cows oblivious to the fact they are being systematically slaughtered. America... Ha! More like American't.
Maybe the Studebakers need to do a Health Care video now... Is it true that even democrats are against passing health care now? Why is it that when the republicans are in office, EVEN IF THEY DON'T HAVE A SUPER MAJORITY, they get anything they want passed. Then when the democrats are in office they get NOTHING even with a super majority... It's all lost on me.
I don't think its the fault of the democrats... or, for that matter, the republicans. Though I do think the republicans are barking up the wrong tree. I think its an issue with the system. Its too conservative. Ultimately, the system needs to change for progress to be made.
too conservative? more like too liberal. Liberals want big government. Guess what we have now? Pretty soon, the government will own just about everything at this rate.
First - Military is government and republicans love that.
Second - Republicans want big business and I don't know what's worse... Especially now that the Supreme Court lifted regulations on campaign spending.
Third - I'm not Rep or Dem. I'm old school. I want strong state government, but most people can't name their own state's senators... And almost no one can name their local US representative...
The people can still run the country, but unfortunately we're too lazy/busy to bother with voting.
Wry, witty, acerbic, irreverant, comedic genius! I have had the privilege of seeing this COUNTLESS times since R&T popped this on the Festival circuit. A laugh riot from start to finish. I want a feature!!!!!!
