I have faint memories of sitting beside my mum watching this. Sadly, she left us far to early and now the memories are really poigniant. Such happy days!
I used to think the opening flower was wonderful and couldn't wait for Patricia Driscoll to speak to me (as though I was the only person she was speaking to). Who was this woman? I remember her, but not her name.
@KT926 same for me ! i loved this program so much. Im only 22 but had it all on a tape from somewhere. I watched it till unfortunately the tape broke through too much wear and tear
i am so with you on this, after this, bill and ben, ragtail and bobtail, woodentops, and andy pandy, i was around 5, i'm now 53, this really brings tears to my eyes
@TheDisneygirl211 the original "Watch With Mother" is even older than I am, was looking at various episodes, and they were shown in 1950. I'm not sure how you managed to grow up with this, if you are only 20. saying you watched this at 5, which would be 1996?? are you sure you got the right programmes??
@redredreds100 yes i had this on video, my mum got it from somewhere, it had the picture book episode where they showed you how to make paper lanterns x
@redredreds100 OH, I see, I was confused there for a minute, picture book, haha, that's where she has a tray of various items, tells you to coseyour eyes, removes one and then you have to guess what's missig. "no peeping now" she'd say
This show is almost certainly the one Eric Idle was parodying when he did: "Rumple-Tweezer ran the Dinky-Tinky Shoppe down in Dingly-Dell...." and so forth...
Old nick the sea captan was a rough-tough jolly sort of fellow,he loved the life of the sea -and he used to hang out down by the pier... where the men dressed.. as ladies.....and....err...that's all for today children.
I'm 23 years old but when I was 3, my mother bought me the video tape, and I loved watching it, especially learning how to make paper lanterns. ^^

Such a lovely tune. Didn't the Fourth Doctor make a flute out of twigs & play this on the Power Of Kroll?

I remember the paper lanterns... I'm really into art and crafts and I've got to admit, the paper lanterns are my earliest arty memory. Good times (Y)
