NYS&W is kaput, no more, bye-bye, see ya now- too bad. There hasn't been a train from Binghamton since 2006 when the flood wiped out the bridges. They can't see the point of fixing it I guess.
Hey kj, excepted track is track that rates below class 1-5 standards which means 10mph or less as per say in the fra manual we have to abide by.. No hazmats or passenger cars with passengers on it can run on it... Susie q's track rates around class 2& class 3 track.. The southern tier west from port jervis is in farely good condition, and they can run at speeds of up to 30mph. It has to be for them ro run hazmats through there....
If I didn't know any better I would assume that most of the NYS&W's track just about "excepted". Parts of track now owned by NS between Port Jervis and Binghamton was supposedly upgraded recently after being "excepted" for many decades (with a 14 mph speed limit).
That be a es44dc loco the suck don't load worth a dam and takes forever to go into dynamics CSX Engineer on the chicago division Nashville Subdivision CG PM
Oh man, you guys want to see some bad track? Come to North Idaho, and check out the old WI&M, now PCC. The line was built in 1908 with 70lb rail from 1898, and it STILL has the original ties and rail.
sounds like the delta valley and southern railway at delpro,ar. i visited them twice back in 2003 when i drove for a long distance trucking company. took some photos.
Nice to see the GP-18 - I modeled them fro my collections

Iowa Chicago & Eastern's lines through Illinois are still terrible! And in Clinton Iowa, they're WORSE!!!
EVEN WORSE THAN THAT is a short-line in Arkansas where the trains can't go more than 4 mph on rail that was milled in the 1910's!

Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Really interesting to see the big modern units on crappy shortline tracks.
