Five airmen at Scott AFB formed "The Unknown" later became "The Unknowns" & finally "Spur." They were frequently the opening act for the Dead and a lot of other "name" bands all around the midwest.
oooops , the pic of panorama is on Bob Kuban and the Inmen, needed to correct that, also Walter Scott had a devastating ending of his life, sad he was great

They changed the name to Spur for obvious reasons their name ,They had a lot of fans who would go where ever they played , most of the shows with the Grateful Dead were in St Louis this recording is 45 yrs old , they had a sound like the birds before the Birds//They where from Belleville IL, u had a pic of Panorama on their song Why Girl it not there now ,also they played with a group the Acid Sets which did Cream WhiteRoom etc, also look up Bob Cuban and the Endmen. they were a great group
I can give u a lot of info on this band ,myself and some of my friends were great friends.. I was with them when they recorded the first time in St,Louis and was with them when they played with The Greatful Dead and much more
Actually, they recorded a total of three singles and two albums in the sixties. One of their tunes was featured on a compilation album out of Germany and in 2010 a new release was issued by Drag City Records.
OMG/ they're playing in San Diego tonite, and I just realized who they were/ I'm from St Louis and saw them, mostly as Spur, many many times!!
