question: does the piece finish in a B flat or did he miss it? (I've never heard this piece before) I have just heard THE child prodigy. I think his interpretation can truly be described as prodigious. I heard this piece in the right moment, since I'm working right now in a piece for cello and piano.
lol nathan did u get a new cello? this isnt the same one as in the debussy vid, is it? btw, nice emotions and phrasing in ur playing--makes it sound real nice. :)
something on tv with this kid last night. he played something i guess he wrote, he was slapping the strings like you would a bass and it sounded really cool, anyone seen it and know what it was called?
Wonderful! I was lucky enough to have a front row seat at The World's Greatest Musical Prodigies concert during the week where he played Dvorak and a new piece by Alex Prior. One of the best musical nights of my life. I met him at the after show party. One of the nicest little guys you could ever meet. And pretty funny too.
yup he's pretty funny - i went to a concert that had him as a special guest today and the conductor called him an "interesting dude" and asked him if he wuz watching Family Guy again cuz he wuz saying so many insane things lol...
the cello itself ts amazing. the sound its producing is so full and almost woody. no disrespect to the player, who is very good, but i would kill to have such a high quality instrument.
ummm..how shall i say this without being offensive?
well, I now go to high school with Nathan (and yes, I really do, he is a sophomore and I am a freshman) and let me just tell you, he really is a prodigy
1. he had his own hbo special
2. he filled in for yo yo ma on a Roberta Flac album
4. he has music on itunes
have you done/had any of those? i don't think so!
i've listened to him play his electric cello live at our jazz concert, and it really is a spectacle, and in my opinion, he is a prodigy.
he could very well be a prodigy, but if he is, this video doesn't show it because the piece is not very technical. it was an absolutely stunning performance, and his tone and ear for tambre is awesome, but it's not significant evidence for him being a prodigy.
youre a disgrace to the human race. this is a boy that hasnt even started puberty yet that can make adults cry with his amazing abilities. go back to your middle class blue collar job and lament the fact that you are 44 and have a quarter of the talent nathan chan does.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually, I'm 13. I just picked a random age when I made my Youtube account. And I said he was very good. He's just not quite a prodigy. And the talent thing--I'm not as good as he is, but I'm better than you think. For goodness' sake, a disgrace to the human race? Please.
so youre telling me that his talent is NOT natural? that he is this good ONLY from practicing constantly? music is more than hitting the right note at the right time. Chan's musical voice and passion alone are astounding, not to mention his mature interpretation of what he plays. he IS a prodigy
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I didn't say anything about his talent, stupid. He's very good, and he does understand what he's playing, and he's passionate about it. But I know lots of kids his age who can play like that. He's not a prodigy.
im going to call your bluff and say you dont know a single person directly that has his musical ability. you probably couldnt even describe timbre without going to look it up. your musical knowledge is non-existant. you fail at life... goodbye
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes, I do! I do know what timbre is (the quality of a note aside from dynamics and vibrato speed), and I know kids his age who are just as good as him, two in particular. You don't even know me, so you can't tell me who or what I know and who or what I don't know.
