OH SNNNNNAP!!! I was beginning to think I was going crazy, like I imagined this show or something. I remember staying up late night on Fridays waiting for this to come on. YOU gotta love YouTube!
New York Hot Tracks was another hot video show on back in the day. They showed more R&B urban based videos. I remember seeing Cool and the Gang showed often
@MrMorningside125 It was more than that. I remember it costing that much in 1990. I think My mom paid about 800 for hers that really didn't work properly. Then there was beta videotape, which was hard to find tapes for.
I came across this show on a UHF channel we used wire hangers to get it to come in enough to see it. It was all I had in the midwest. I used to copy the style, and get breaking moves. Amoung a sea of Rednecks, it was all I had. God bless "Dicarts", I owe you one!!
I was looking for a clip of this show. I remember seeing it (not this exact episode) on KTLA ch. 5 here in Los Angeles. There were so many damn video shows in the 80s...got hard to keep up. Probably 2 or 3 most of us never even heard of.
I remember living in new york at the time. I was only 9 years old in 1985. I remember staying up to watch this and friday night videos. True essence of new york.
@joeybinky that's funny me too. Today everyone has too much and noone appreciates it. There is total garbage on tv and you can't even watch with your kids. I remember my dad would have the tin foil on the antenna and if anyone got up to get a drink the tv would get fuzzy and he'd get mad!!!
@tarmale Yeha, it's sad. I used to watch different strokes, facts of life, hulk, dukes of hazard with my mom or grandma. Shows were so much better back then, even better when mommy, or grandma watched with me. There's just nothing good on anymore. Tv just sucks now.
@joeybinky I thought I was the only one...it took me a bit to remember the name..thank god to whoever posted this...and thank even more for youtube!! lol
Man, my sis and I depended on New York Hot Tracks, Friday Night Videos, and U68! Cable just wasn't available in southern Brooklyn -- I didn't get to watch MTV until 1995.
Not that it matters, most of those videos you are/were seeing did'nt make MTV because they were "too black." Back in 1985, MTV did'nt play alot of black artists. Around this time, they were'nt playing Whitney Houston yet (her third video "How Will I Know" got her her first shot on MTV and that video was'nt released until early 1986).
lol...I remember Alexander's and A&S...I used to fall asleep in Alexander's all the time, something with the carpet and it was always stuffy in there...those were the days
Man, I feel like crying right now. NY Hot Tracks take me back to my childhood. We were poor as hell but great music and videos from the 80s to get us through
If you do then share, share share!!!! My parents use to tape videos from the shows and latter on artists' interviews (like The Jets and Lionel Richie), but I want to see some of the early episodes (my dad started taping New York Hot Tracks in the fall of 1984).

That Sale Of The Century promo with Don

been done as "Garfield & Friends" was
just taking off on CBS. Unusual combo of
announcers, even for NBC.
