it is not light enough for zebra wood. and the grain doesn't show enough contrast. if it has a lot of sap I think what you have there is teak..I good test of teak is how hard it is to glue and if it quickly dulls your cutters...teak contains a lot of silica...just an observation. Type of wood aside..this is a very good project. I have just started doing segmented turnings....They are very demanding but a lot of fun to do.

@Buzzsawman Thank you. The wood does contain a lot of sap, but it glues easily and doesn't dull tools any quicker than other woods.
