@jemmer23 wait a minute, the downrange is usually 600 miles at MECO, wouldn't it be over the Atlantic or did you see after MECO and they both went over Ireland?
apologies for delay in responding, I only check comments infrequently.
Yes, I'm sure it would be well after MECO by the time we saw it over Ireland but the tanks are still following a similar trajectory although they are losing altitude while the shuttle is still climbing.
Wonderful capture. Shuttle less than 100 miles above your head at this point -- in full sunlight and coasting (at five miles per second) towards orbital apogee over the South Pacific. Reddish External Tank already a bit lower and slower and headed for its fiery re-entry break-up over the Indian Ocean. Great work. Thanks !!!
@charlieiscool1000 Because it flew over ireland as it got into space and it only took 18mins, plus it was night time so u would see it on a clear night sky. I often seen the ISS fly over ireland at night and in the morning as the sun was just rising.
Nice one,me and me mate were having a drink in in the phoenix park and we spotted it although we hadent a clue what it was,at least it wasent the drink.
Again all, thanks for the comments, pity the shuttle is retired but hopefully there will be other events to watch and film.
