I'm sorry, everyone. Even though this was a brilliant idea and the stage directions were clever, the acting and execution was below par. When you look at them, you just see them having fun; you don't really feel....much. I don't feel like any of dancers actually feel the music, but are rather just going through the motions of a waltz. I'm sure if they had more time to rehearse and prepare or got actual actors, this would have turned out amazing.

I haven't seen any eight-hour productions (I've seen real year-long rehearsal productions), but even with or without rehearsal, some of these students COULD have had some more emotion. They either weren't in the mood that day or maybe they're not into acting majors. I dunno; if that's the reason, then that's a good explanation.

But also, just because this is better than other productions doesn't mean it's super amazing.

this is what we call here in Greece "ancient Greek theater". Except from the same structure as a theatrical play... Drama, fight, hate, blood ties, and, at the end, the peak of the story, the purification of the hero's soul...is the appropriate elements for an ancient Greek tragodia (tragedy). what a brilliant writing and playing!!!

Looking at the lyrics from a Freudian point of view. It seems that the song is about him wanting to kill his father(see little hans experiment). He seems to want to kill his father for two reasons. The first being jelousy of wanting to be with his mother. The second being that his father caused his mothers death through stress from him drinking and gambling. The whale represents the cervix of his mother (they had both been in there). He also wants to kill his father for abandoning him.
