  • Beautiful costumes!

  • It's much harder to tell a story with difficult elements, than tweak familiar elements common to a familiar style of music which provides it's own mood. I am not wowed by those who choose to embody moods rather than attempt narrative with their skating. Technically the two teams are actually equal, but D/W's OD here is a more complex routine, in terms of cultural representation and degree of difficulty necessary to maintain authenticity, and until they reached Canada, the judges agreed.

  • @samiracle I agree and I've been watching ice skating since Peggy Fleming took the ice!

  • The Dhoti is really one big peace of cloth like 4 feet X 8 feet and is wear by the special skiil and you have to wear ,fold and pass through your leg such a way that legs shold be fully covered and looks very typical view. And Lengha is one kind of big Paijama and is not to tight with legs. is like full parellel beggy pant made from cotton and to be tied with the help of cotton string named NAADU at your weist.

  • awesome!!!!

  • good job .i love this u guys looks so good.

  • the best i think this year!

  • Davis and White were totally robbed of the Gold medal at the Olympics and the WC. This routine by itself is an unassailable masterpiece, while the Canadian team had the least imaginative and most boring routines seen in years. Yet V&M were rewarded for their lack of creativity at the Olympics and WC, because in figure skating it is apparently still too taboo for Americans to be crowned Olympic and World Champions in ice dance.

  • @samiracle

    I agree with you

  • un rare chefs d'oeuvre de la danse sur glace !!! Bravo

  • AWESOME, NICE SYNCHRONISATION.

  • i loved it

  • it would have been hilarious if he did it in dhoti instead of lengha

  • @dashil I had followed figure skating for MANY years. Ad love this india-inspired dance. But do not know the difference of "dhoti" and "lengha". Please comment.

  • wow superb performance!! Is that the original audio or somebody just added it?

  • Excellent,Superb and fantastic synchronization. BRAVO...

  • you both are wonderful and for the viewer i request to watch this video in slow motion then you will realize how difficult this is WOW you both are toooooo gooooood

  • Perfect! The do the World of Indian Dance proud! And, GREAT costumes! No need for new ones...

  • fantastic

  • How can you repeat the same performance word for word in the Olympics?

Olympics are special, atleast buy new clothes lol...

  • It's because it's their routine.

If you do a winning performance at Nationals, you do the same winning performance at Olympics. You don't change it because it could ruin the routine, and it could make you lose your chance at a medal. They have to do the same routine. And if they ARE to change it, they would have changed it years before the Olympics. They can't do last minute changes.

As for clothes, they are custom made. Why change it?

  • all teams repeat the same routines throughout the year. it takes the entire year to cheoreograph, learn & perfect their performances which they perform at national & international competitions. they can't change them for one venue. it would be impossible and they'd lose.

  • simply awesome

  • The video is miss titled for 2009 - it should be 2010.

  • @asherch no, it's not mistitled - they actually repeated the same exact routine at the olympics

  • wow

  • that was great!!!

so how did they do? does Rank 1 mean they won??

  • Yes they won the competition :) They're undefeated so far this season, they're skating this program at the Olympics tonight!

  • great

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • Awesome performance Thanks for uploading

  • They're just AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! I think they'll win the Olympicsssss!!!!

  • Good luck Meryl and Charlie in Vancouver.

  • Great Job !!

  • as a figure skating fan and knowing the "theme" of the original dance had to be a folk or cultural dance I was SO happy to see somebody do something other then Flaminco or Country & Western or Russian/Yukrainian that's usally all you get. I'm also happy to hear that it's a big hit in India. I love the bollywood style from having seen in on SYTYCD and felt they really tried to keep the theme even in the elements unlike some other dance teams who have tried something different and offended ppl

  • Kudos go not only to these two fabulous ice-skaters, but also to their trainer, Ms. Marina Zoueva, who studied Indian folk dance in Moscow and the Indian dance instructor, Ms. Anuja Rajendra, of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

It would be wonderful to see more ice-skating danced to music from other countries.

  • This is great! does anyone have more info on the song? is it called "indian folk dance"? Who sings it, etc. i mean, i know there was a womans voice etc., of course i cant make out if they are words or whatever, b/c i do not speak their language. could someone fill me in?

  • @looneybun1 - There are 3 different songs, taken from two Bollywood (Indian Hindi Movie Industry) blockbuster movies - 'Bunty & Bubbly' and 'Devdas'. All starring very beautiful 'Aishwarya Rai' (former Miss India & Miss World). Song 1 - 'Kajra Re' from 'Bunty & Bubbly', sung by 'Alisha Chenoy', 2nd one 'Silsila ye chahat ka' from 'Devdas', sung by 'Shreya Ghoshal' and last one 'Dola Re Dola', from 'Devdas', sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shreya Ghoshal & Kay Kay. Hope this info fills the gap!

  • i am somewhat familiar with Bollywood...and i do know Aishwarya Rai. I just didnt know if it was one song or what. Thank you so very very much for explaining.

  • it is 3 songs

    1. Kajra Re

    2. Ye Chaahat Ka

    3.Dola Re Dola

  • It's not an indian folk song Looneybun1, it's just bollywood style of music and dancing which is a mix of a lot of indian styles. Answer to your query is 'discussed below' by another user Anshul Sharma! Thanks

  • The first song is called Kajra Re

    watch?v=plUxChXs3w8

The subsequent 3 songs are from the move DEVDAS

    watch?v=8qhkBTGE_Wo

    watch?v=s9oeBzNBIso

  • Great Energy & Artistry! A Perfect Tribute to the Beautiful World of Bollywood!

P.S. (The songs they use r from my fav. Bollywood movies to)

  • Amazing.....how they have incorporated some of the original dance moves from the movies here!!!!

  • magicccccc....

  • The songs selected for the routine was already chart busters in India, but thanks to Meryl DAVIS and Charlie WHITE (team), they took the song to different orbit / level / vision. I am sure Bollywood will now try to go one up on this.

  • awesom

even the mimic. great, they must have watched loads of bollywood movies

  • magic created with grace talent and awesome skills

  • superb..magical,,thanks ritesh for sharing..

  • Oh Goddddddd! this is amaziingggggggg

  • magical,..

  • most certainly my fav of the original dances this season

  • @ineurotrance Yes, I agree, this was the best original dance of this past Olympic season. Two very good young couples, D&W and V&M train together every day, with the same coach and same choreographer. Both are very talented and both learn from each other. I don't know what may happen between now and next Olympics (in Russia). I do not choose my favorites according to country. I look forward to what D&W do next.. I do not like new judging system, but we have to accept it for now.

  • I enjoyed watching . I loved it very much.

  • Thanks for posting, I loooove this spetaculare dance.
