I watched a documentary on him, blew me away. This kid is more than just a musical prodigy,he is a genius. Academically, he was home schooled by his mother, because he performed at a high school level when he was just seven years old. Musically, he is special, because only 1 of 10,000 people can do what he does; he has perfect pitch. His mother spoke Cantonese for the first three years of his life, and later introduced English and Mandarin. He's so incredible, in every way imaginable, he strives
1:33&1:37&1:56...playing wrong....well for a little boy like his age.its well done, especialy the cadanza he plays so good....i have trouble to play when i was 19...haha..顶你...希望你能破最年轻的岁数(rach 3)=16....的记录....
I played this cadenza as well. It's a very difficult piece of music to master. This child has done a great job to connect all the difficult passages together. He can definitely improve on the tempo though, it's meant to be an incredibly fast cadenza.
hes not that good, hes rly good for his age but performance is not STELLAR. some scales arent perfect, he slows down when hes playing them plus makes mistakes sometimes. but his musicality is great, and amazing to suppose he wrote his own freakin cadenza. i know i didnt do that in 6th grade when i played this! plus he makes a bunch of mistakes here and there, performance ok/good but hes little so has a ton of potential.
So true... I'm 14 and my friends say I'm a "... senior citizen in a teen's body". I find that classical music really keeps me in great mental, emotional, and spiritual shape. It's amazing how you can feel the music in you. Today's popular music doesn't compare.
Give the child time. Let him have the time and space to mature. He has made tremendous progress since a year ago but has a long way to go. I am sure his amazingly rare talent, commitment and determination will carry him through. Hope all the attention and glamour do not spoil him. Watch out for his Carnigie debut next year !
well done for the tender passages in the middle! i think marc is starting to develop his own style. i've noticed a certain elegance in many of his slow passages, in other pieces as well.
Thanks for recognizing his progress. A lot of people watch just one video/performance and make early judgements. He's worked very hard to improve his techniques and musicianship. Hope more people can realize that.
oh just ignore those armchair critics. chances are they probably haven't ever truly gone down the route of professional musicianship, so they do not understand the stages involved and all that. but good in a way - that means that they're comparing marc against all the masters they've heard, since all the pianists they've ever encountered are probably only from cds etc.. These are people who know a bit of music and think they know a lot.
